Only the wording of the warranty can help you. Some warranties allow transfers like a cars for example, others don't and state non transferable. As you werent a party to the original contract, or as a named third party under the rights of third party act you have no rights under consumer law.

I know you have to keep your Costco membership open or it voids your warranty, so I'm guessing that it probably wouldn't be transferable

Here is the extended warranty terms from Costco online. I think the clause D applies to you. So if not a member, it might not transfer. Having said that I find costco customer care is brilliant. I got a faulty CCTV camera which they return with full money back some 6 months after purchase, I had lost my reciept as well, they just found details using my membership details. I would recommend becoming a member if you can.

No it has to be a Costco Card Holder that deals with any warranty claims, not transferable to 3rdparty. Costco Extended warranty has always been that way. Even as the original purchaser if you end your card membership the warranty expires.

Its not mentioned if warranty is transferable or not, but as far as I know, all other companies like sony, LG etc cover you with warranty if you have original VAT receipt?
I was wondering if anybody has any experience with costsco

If it's not mentioned then you can't transfer, such guarantees are explicit in what they cover. You're at the mercy of Costco who are unlikely to under take any future issue unless they are obliged to. Best you can do is write to them and ask. If you do so though they will then be aware their contact with your friend is at an end as they sold it to you.
If you've got the money buy an oled imo

Have a look on avforums for some reading

Thanks Snoopy, what is an imo? I will defo have a read through AV forums. Another thing I would like to compare is the OS, currently I own 49 LG with SmartOS, which I believe is incredible, would like to find out how the Sony OS compares.

cold. this price for this TV is not a special deal. I picked up the better one for less at Xmas just gone and that went down to 1700 since then as it got discontinued. http://kagoo.co.uk/tvs/sony-kd-65x9305
if you shop around you will find this for less as summer sales start
also I can tell you the android os on this TV is very good. allows you to installed kodi, showbox, etc
finally oled is definitely better but most reviews on the LG oled put me off. Panasonic and some others are doing oleds again now so check the equivalents of those if you're willing to spend that kind of money
