The new Moto G4 (2016), announced a couple of weeks back (this is the Gen4 model, not to be confused with the old "4G" model), seems like a good deal.
Price on the Motorola site is £169, but I used:
-Student discount (UNIDAYS) at 15%
This brought the price down to £143.65, which I think is a very good price for this phone.
If you cannot get a UNIDAYS discount, use code UKWELCOME10 to get £10 off.
NOTE 6-June: mine has just arrived and I can confirm it is a dual-SIM model.
Specification:

Also, strangely, this model does not have NFC.
As people have been asking, here are the main differences between the new one (gen4) and last year's MotoG (gen3):
Biger screen - 5.5 inch v 5.0 inch
approx 40% better screen resolution - 1080 x 1920 pixels (401ppi) v 720 x 1280 pixels (294 ppi)
approx. 80% faster processor (at least on paper, see geekbench benchmarks)
takes bigger SD card (up to 128 GB, gen 3 goes to 32 GB)
Apparently it has a gyroscope, the gen3 did not
bigger battery (3000 mAh v 2470 mAh)
Fast charging (with the right charger, see my comment above)

Some of us prefer branded models like Motorola with UK support. The Xiaomi us a decent phone but if it goes wrong......

Originally I had the same dilema.
They seem to be identical, except:
Moto G4 has better processor, runs MM (Ultra 6 is still on Lpop), G4 is water-resistant and 'looks' a bit more expensive - the Ultra 6 looks a bit plasticky. Also, the Ultra 6 has the Vodafone bloatware and you need to unlock it. On the other hand, it's only £130.
At the end of the day, I went for the Moto G4 because (1) it is newer and therefore it will be supported by upgrades etc for another 2-3 years, (2) it has a newer OS, (3) it's slightly faster (4) looks more 'classy' (subjective) and (5) does not need unlocking.
