You could probably also power it by potato power as demonstrated by this picture showing 3 potatoes generating 22.3012volts, easily powering this drill. Simply put a carrot in series to reduce volts down to 18v dc. Nice and eco as well, recycle the batteries by making them into dinner.

I can't be 100% sure but I'm gonna say yes*, sure why not? - probably work if you whittle down 12aaa batteries and ram them into the base.

OK, someone will ask this so I'll repeat what's above - this is for a Makita BHP453 drill body, no battery or charger is supplied so it won't work unless you already have those items. Ideal for replacing your worn out drill or to compliment your existing 18volt LXT range of products. 3 year warranty if you register with Makita within 30 days of purchase. UK Tool Mart seem a decent bunch when I've used them before.

If memory serves correct you need to connect in serial to increase voltage, 6 batteries should do it but don't expect it to last long before the batteries drain.

That's quality advice, I can confirm that doing this will power the drill.
for about 35 seconds.

you right, I will need serial and parallel connection then, capacity is also important

correct but what about voltage? 2 in serial will make up 24v, how do we take off the non needed 6v?? Also, can you recommend a good trolley to take them around?? Once someone brainy will give me the right answer, I will proceed voting for what it looks like an excellent deal

great, you should get a nomination for the next Oscar. Sorry, the nobel price I mean. So, a bag of potatoes and some fresh carrots will do then, ligther than 2 car batteries. you won, hot deal then

But all the juice would be gone. Better of as a snack - crisps

we would probably just need some sort of integrated circuit to drop the voltage down, job done
