Maybe on southern flies. Though as you'd expect, northern flies are rock hard and though a rolled up newspaper to the head stuns them for a second, they then spring back to life.

Quite un nerving these. The one we had when you swatted a fly there was a loud pop sound and big Blue flash! You would think it was powered by a car battery!
