2k is 2048x1080, a cinema and broadcast standard. For consumer equipment the 2048 is downgraded somewhat to 1920 but the vertical resolution remains the same, 1080.
For 4K, the resolution at a cinema is 4096x2160, again downgraded for the consumer market to 3840x2160.
The clue is in the first number, for both 2k and 4K the number approximates the horizontal resolution. (2k = 2000, 4K = 4000). You can probably guess what 8k equates to :-)
But hey, I don't know what I'm talking about

Bought this.
I have a U2515H but the KVM feature looks to be worth the upgrade, and I managed to sell my U2515H to a friend for £220, so an upgrade for a tenner inc. postage isn't bad at all.
