Eton Mess Recipe
4 meringue nests
300g/10½oz strawberries, halved
150ml/5fl oz natural plain yoghurt
150ml/5fl oz double cream
Break up meringue nests.
Mash half of the strawberries until pulpy
Whip double cream & combine with yoghurt, mix half the meringues into this.
Layer in dishes, start with some strawberries, then yoghurt mix, then top with halved strawberries & some of the crushed meringues. Repeat until all the ingredients are used up. Serve immediately.

British ones are usually quite poor, although good if you're making a smoothie or something. I prefer Egyptian myself though.
Heat for the price side of the deal though!

I too am waiting for September when these awful british stuff has run out so the Egyptian ones are in the shops. They are massive and so sweet.

No, very wrong. The right variety & you can't beat them. We got two punnets from Morrisons. Both were from The vale of Evesham but different farmers. The one was just so lovely, as good as you can get, the other was average. Going back 30 years all British strawberries were sweet, their was nothing else, but different types wanting bigger yields & pest resistant, many now don't have the nice flavour.
