What's the point with the 1000 series coming out next month? Now is not the time to buy!

I guess so, but you'd honestly have to be out of your mind to buy a flagship/high-end gpu at this time...

Gamers want performance not efficiency. I'll be amazed if the price of these come down much more than this.
The previous 780ti's and their massive cuts were another story because the lack of ram on them made them almost obsolete in comparison to the 980ti replacement...

Looks like a good deal to be, but I'm not sure whether I'd rather wait it out to get a 1080 next month, which won't be quite as quick but I reckon it'll hold its value a bit better

Hey, do you guys think my 290x will lose value? I plan on upgrading soon but don't know whether to sell it now as prices may be higher than in the future. Opinions?

Yes but looking at the first batch of the 1080 cards are only marginally faster and will cost £550

seems very low for new, low enough maybe to buy and hope the abilities of the 1080 are published within 30 days, so it can be returned or kept based on an actual comparison

On my second one of these and have coil whine. Loud enough that I think my motherboard is amplifying the sound through my speakers, only solved by using a ground loop isolator. Plays everything I chuck at it though.

Which isolator did you buy? How did you attached the ground loop isolator?

no point buying a gpu now, cold

Surely only "cold" if the price is not a "deal" for this exact item? The vote isn't about whether you think someone should buy it or not, that's their decision. Certainly offer an opinion and provide advice (I happen to agree with you), but don't vote based on that.

Good deal, ok brand. If you need a graphics card *right now* then go for it. But if you can wait to see what NVIDIA and AMD put on offer, even if you want to still buy the 980ti, you will save money or get a better card.
So, patience, yes, there will always be something better... But this is an exception.
