I admire your optimism for the UK summer
On one occasion last year, my car was parked in direct sunshine with an outside temperature of 31°C. The car dashboard, after 1 hour, was at 70°C according to my IR thermometer. Plenty hot enough to crucify a dashcam containing a LiPo battery. For my capacitor-equipped dashcams ... no problem.

Better to get the slightly more expensive variant with the super capacitor instead of a lithium ion battery if you plan to leave it permanently fitted in the car. I dread to think what could eventually happen to a cheap lithium ion battery after repeated exposure to hot car environments over the summer!
The Aptina sensor is great for daytime, but is bad at night, but then there is the low price.

I concur. Better still at this pricepoint get an a118c/B40c and you can do away with the ungainly side-entry cabling for a more discrete fitment too.

The batterys quite small but it is a slight worry if it's running in the heat but the most likely effect is the battery will fail. Now the dashcam will still work but when power is lost, it will immediately turn off meaning the last recorded footage won't be saved or become corrupted. In the event of an accident modern cars switch off all power.
I was going to buy a nexbase cam but rrad many reviews of the battery failing however you can purchase a small battery (150mah) and solder the joints

I have this issue! so I think going by what's been said on the posts here the battery is fried! the camera still works perfectly when plugged in, but when I turn off the engine the power stops and the last file is lost. oh well! time for a new battery or camera
