This tablet is a compromise between looks, weight, battery life and CPU power, concentrating on the first 3.

It's a great tablet, but don't expect to run MS SQL Server + Photoshop + Visual Studio and loads of Chrome tabs without noticing a slow down.

Windows works great in limited memory and with lower power CPUs, but if you're a power user, a less attractive more practical solution might be elsewhere.

I suspect you could run Sysprep to take the machine back to an unused state, if you really wanted.

I love my surface pro 3. Got a 256gb 8gb ram i5 version off eBay for £500, plenty more deals like that for second hand ones.

Would the surface pro 4 with type cover and 20% code for £688 be a good deal? Really considering to go for the pro version instead.

I've got 2 x Windows10 devices running with 2gb ram. Anything more than a basic task will bog this down which is a shame because it has a pretty capable Atom Z8700. Definitely get the 4GB version.

Got the 128gb Surface Pro 3 (i5) for £400 in post christmas sales.

If you're a serious student, creative or business user then I'd highly recommend the i5 Pro 4 with 20% off (the keyboard is a major factor - over 93% of owners end up buying one). It's a great machine and unlike the iPad Pro it's geared as a laptop replacement ultra-mobile.

What the Pro 4 (or Book) won't do is give you serious gaming performance. The trade off for the design is very much that you won't be getting dedicated graphics card levels of performance. However, for light gaming or entertainment it's pretty damn good.

As for comparing the Galaxy S2 (that I have) with the Surface 3 - it really depends what you want. The S2 runs Android so it's just a great high-end entertainment and browsing device (although the speakers are a bit naff) while the Surface 3 runs full Windows 10 which gives great flexibility for use, but at the cost of Android user-friendliness.

Keyboard is a must but the pro 4 keyboard works with the pro 3 and worth the extra monies

I just ordered a new 12" Macbook using the 20% off code so hopefully it will be accepted! As others have suggested I'd just keep quiet and hope they don't notice. I dont see how they could legally automatically charge you the extra. If they genuinely refuse to accept the discount code I'm sure they'll just cancel the order.

I was tempted by the Surface 3 offer myself but I found it a bit on the slow side for general use and I couldn't see myself ever using it in tablet form so personally I'd rather have a lightweight laptop. Can't really complain for £300 odd with the keyboard though!

As others have suggested if you do buy a Surface make sure you get the 4Gb/128Gb model. It's easily worth the extra monies.

I ordered 4gb/128gb with keyboard at 8:50am yesterday, originally stated delivery today also was given tracking information but later in the afternoon eta was 9th june and still says the same sadly.

Verys dates are always accurate. I've ordered stuff before which has a date and then comes two weeks earlier than the ETA

I have had a text and email from Very apologising for the delay and advising the 9th as the estimated delivery date so fingers crossed. As it was an impulse purchase I won't be too worried if it gets cancelled and used BNPL so have no refunds to worry about. Interested to hear how those who have received are getting on with it.

Mine says "Sorry, not available" against the item even though the order is still open. I called them to query what was happening and was told that it's out of stock and more are due in next week at which point it will be dispatched. We'll see what happens...

If your going to get the ipad air 2 from Very using the 20% code just be aware that code will probably expire on the 6th of June, you wont find either the 16GB or 64GB cheaper than Very with the 20% discount, at least not from a UK retailer.

Customer service told me, they send list with customers to factory and they do not take responsibility after that. So if you want claim you have to write to factory... sounds like joke!

Yeah after a bit of thought I will hardly if ever use the extra features the surface can give users.

I mainly just want a device for youtube,facebook,web browsing and the odd game now and then.
For just those uses I think the iPad Air 2 is the better "tablet"

The surface is more than that obviously but I wouldn't use it and likely find it frustrating for my needs.

iPad wins on apps, games and security but that's it, you don't need an app for youtube and facebook though not on tablets with this size screen so you would have been fine with the surface.

I'm using an iPad Air right now and regretting not jumping on this deal when I had the chance, it was certainly a bargain.

I have an air 2 but really want a surface. Missed the surface 4 deal and was gutted.

But for all my needs the air 2 does it as good if not better than the surface.

For others needs I'm sure the surface would win.

Don't get me wrong I like the ipad air but it can be very frustrating at times.

So I have been using mine and all is well. I got the newer pen (Surface pro 4 type) and can only really make it stick on the keyboard sticking point - so it doesn't really work when the keyboard is on the surface.

Should I have got the older style pen with the loop attachment? Any creative ideas to resolve this - as functionally the pen works well - so would rather not downgrade it...
