Some people are just so obnoxious about product choices. They think that because they make particular choices that everyone who doesn't make the same choice or apply the same reasoning is stupid. We see this with smartphone threads, car threads and, unfortunately, with threads such as these.
The people on here who are berating Windows users fall into the obnoxious category above.
The reality is that people make choices either based on what they want, what they need or what they know.
Linux is not a new operating system. Yet, it is nowhere near as popular as Windows and Mac OS, both of which generally carry a premium, directly or indirectly. That in itself says a lot not only about consumers but also the product and/or its developers/promoters.
Someone mentioned earlier that most computer users are "clueless". The reality is that most people who use a computer aren't computer experts; they don't need to be. Is everyone who drives a car a motor racing driver or needs to be? A car is a tool, just as a computer. One idiot said something about "what a laptop is supposed to be used for". Really? That's like saying a car is supposed to be used for taking you to work... A truly dumb statement! A car or a laptop is "supposed" to be used for however the owner intended, as long as it complies with legal regulations.
Linux is a wonderful operating system but so is Mac OS and so is Windows in the opinions of those who favour either.
As for this deal, personally, I think it's a good one but I wouldn't try to tell anyone on this thread what they should do with it if they bought it because who am I? Just another stranger who doesn't know any other person's on here individual needs, wants or thought patterns. Why the heck then should Linux-only advocates berate persons considering installing Windows on it? After all, don't people install Linux on PCs that came with Windows?
Sheesh...

Nothing wrong with OSX for general use. I tend to use it as my primary OS and I run Linux in VMWare Fusion. OSX has IRB (Ruby) and Python access directly from the terminal as in Linux, so I tend to just use OSX. I'll use Linux if I need to do some specific terminal stuff as I have it setup as I like.
You come across as a very set in your ways and inflexible character, with a strong air of arrogance, hopefully you won't need to present yourself for any IT job interviews currently.
Remember it's your opinion, one size doesn't fit all.

That's you. I have these things called games which require Windows 10, not got any other options.
Great deal, but was thinking the A8 Amd, probook with Windows for 250.00, seems better quality, not sure

Shame about the battery life, but looks ideal apart for a nippy laptop apart from that! Looks like theres a bunch of wifi issues and HP's linux support is less than stella though.

If you're quick you can buy a windows 7 Pro licence key from a scrap computer and upgrade it for free to Win 10 if Linux isn't your thing. I got mine for a tenner from a company that's been around for 5 years and they sent me the Win 7 holographic sticker through the mail

This one? The Ubuntu is a G2, the £250 one is a newer model the G3, this doesn't have DVD slot and is a bit slimmer.
This one?
