yeah and the dodgy Windows.... if you're comparing like for like it can't conveniently exclude key (expensive/critical) items
A Windows Pro licence, or rather a legitimately purchased licence is £120 and that's for OEM which could be argued is still wrong as retail should be bought by non PC builders, but I'll let that slide, it's still £120 for Windows Pro to compare another deal/parts against this deal which has Win Pro OEM included.
Average prices to build this are:
£140 cpu - i5 4460 incl heatsink/fan
£35 motherboard, your choice of budget mobo
£14 4GB memory, Crucial
£32 500GB hard drive
£25 cheap n' cheerful case
£18 cheap/n' blow PSU
£13 DVD
£120 for Windows Pro OEM
£5 for nasty keyboard
£5 for mouse
That comes to £407, ok so ditch the Windows licence cos you don't mind dodgy, and forget mouse/keyboard, so that's £277 for which you have to build yourself, order all the bits, hope it works and still have spent £27 more than buying this one

sigh.....Of course I know many people don't buy Windows licences, I do my best to avoid paying for them if I can too but when comparing one deal against another it must be comparable in every respect otherwise you might as well say a raspberry pi for £30 does the same as this Dell, they're both computers after all. You could argue that deals posted about food are pointless because you can just go steal it from Tesco rather than pay like other mugs, or a McDonalds is much better value than a £10 steak, again comparisons need to be fair.

Not content with my Dell deal from yesterday, I've scoured the globe and found the Dell i5 Vostro desktop at an even more fabulous price, change your underwear and take a look at this superb deal. Best price ever I think.

These 2 old deal links talk all about upgrade options etc.... hopefully will help answer some questions. Apologies for those getting sick of these Vostro desktop deals

A quick tot up on PC Parts picker and I got to around £400 to buy a similar (basic) motherboard, i5 4460, Win7 Pro licence, 4GB ram, 500GB HD, DVD, case, psu, mouse, keyboard. Then you have to assemble it
