Have you tried testing it using Linux?
Just to make sure it's not Windows that causing the issue.

I had a similar issue with an old laptop but I tracked it down to one of the memory modules which sometime played up.

I think the i7 4790k is the fastest chip for this board but people who are more familiar with the Xeon range may know better.

If you have a Phenom II x6 1100T you can compare the passmark score to the commercial i7 4790K in this link.

Since I have had this mobo I have trouble shutting down. The PC re-starts on its own after shut down. I can then shut down from the login screen. I have tried everything to cure this to no avail. Windows 7 ultimate. Pentium G3258, latest firmware. :disappointed:

Very good price for spec. I prefer Asus though, but could be swayed by that price if I hadn't just built a new system with an Asus Z97M Plus for £74 (which i thought was a bargain).

It is fairly modern, just last generation. Z170 is for 6th Gen i3 i5 i7 CPUs.

Ah I see, I have a Z97 but bought it a few years back; it works with an I7 processor so I thought it was fairly modern.

Look for other processors around the 6.5k mark.

I just got my board exactly 24 hours after ordering. Not bad for a 5 day service. For anybody interested, in the box was a manual, installation guide, driver CD, back plate and a sata cable.

I guess it depends what you're using it for. For gaming, this site just processes pure numbers.

I have a 2500k at present starting to get win10 voltage blue screen from overclocking (4ghz) will I see a noticeable upgrade with this paired with a i7 4790k?

Because it's outdated. Can't use current processors or ram so it's only of interest to people replacing an existing board, like most above seem to be, or those looking for a cheap build using other bargain bin parts.

You need to get NUS extra card. Just go to NUS extra site, create an account. The card is £13 or so for a year or £33 or so for 3years. Before the card arrives you can start making use of the online discounts, you get a unique code from them you apply to you Amazon account. Discount will always be applied to any purchase you make on Amazon that is eligible for student discount.

I am a little surprised that Amazon haven't price matched it, yet, though I am not sure how you price match with Amazon, anymore. Do they have eagle-eyed spotters out on places like this? They often price match even when they have no stock but at the moment, with stock expected at the end of this month, they have it for £58. If I remember correctly, they got in relatively little stock, last time around, so perhaps I shouldn't be holding my breath, so to speak.

By which I mean, hot, especially for the spec and because Gigabyte are usually near the top for reliability (though I know some people had problem with faulty memory slots with this model, presumably just a bad production run batch but another reason that I like the ease of returns with Amazon).

I bought a used i5 chip 4570k for 80 on ebay a while ago , works great with my old ddr 3 overclocked and one of these motherboards , DDR4 offers very little difference in performance

There's a lot of DDR3 still out there. I personally went with this board because I want to transfer my 32GB from my FX6300 system. Even though I've got a non-K i7 this is the cheapest board I could find with 4 DIMM slots on the socket 1150.

Great board for the price but its only DDR3, i'd rather spend the extra 5-10 pounds and get a DDR4 board.

To be honest, you could sell that time machine and then you could buy any mobo for any price XD

I had this on my watch list on Amazon. They probably won't match it until they have it in stock. The only sellers of this board at the moment are 3rd parties.

When they did price match before it was the £57.99 price which was what the price was on Ebuyer before today.

Yep the mobo will fit in your case. You have a mid tower which will take a full ATX motherboard (which is what this is).

Nope, you would need to upgrade both the mobo AND the CPU.
Probably not worth it - better to upgrade the GPU if you're mostly after games performance.

I have this mobo along with an i5 4670K @4.4GHZ. Cheap and cheerful with no frills, no SLI support only Crossfire. Would recommend though if building on a budget.

@ck12111 you need a Z77 board or B85 board which suit 2nd or 3rd generation processors. Yours is 3rd generation. You will only get these 2nd hand

no re i5, that cpu 3rd gen is socket 1155 and this board is for socket 1150 - 4th and 5th gen cpus
