I've been toying with picking one of these up on and off for a while, but always managing without. This is the cheapest I've seen it so finally picked it up - cheaper than the lower end model in the range and a fair bit cheaper than anywhere else I've found it.
Bare tool, appropriate case (141354-7) is £20 at toolstop, which is a pretty good deal as well, if needed and if you can find £5 worth of other stuff to put to good use to qualify for free shipping.
Happy sawing.

Makita UK: "Model DJR182 has been developed as a sister tool of DJR181. Featuring higher cost-competitiveness than the current model."
Translation: "We cheaped out a bit more on the 182 as compared to the 181 to save a few pennies"

If I had the kit already I'd be tempted, but can't justify extra on batteries that fit nothing else I own. Still voting hot as good if you own compatible kit.

Yeah, definitely one for someone already bought into Makita's 18v system - a single battery and charger on their own would probably be more than the tool again.

Have one of these, highly recommend for rough quick cuts. Had to chop up some old fence posts 4" thick with big nails in and it was like a knife through butter. Eats batteries though so make sure you have two.

I have one of these - awesome bit of kit. Thought I'd seldom use it, but there is rarely a job I don't. Great for demolition, cutting steel, pallets, nails, or just getting a saw into awkward places. Heavy on battery but so good.

Just how heavy on batteries? I have a stack of BL1830s but none of the larger ones - I don't mind the odd swap, but too frequently might be a bit of a pain.

Bought this a few months back and I must say it's fantastic. From speaking to others it's the preferred 18v recip saw.
