Comes with 'Android 4.4 KitKat Operating System – Re-Flashed from Fire OS Sangria 4'. So no rootin' about required apparently. I bought one, seems like a good deal.

Sounds like the best of both worlds - as long as the benefits of Amazon Prime are still available (music, video access etc), then the addition of the google play store and everything that offers makes this the perfect hybrid...
