Each to their own, I think it's a classic design personally, not ugly at all

1992. And regarded as something of a classic by many. :man:

buy a used elitebook. they were £1500 new and you can find them under 200 nowadays. a 2540p i7 at >140. a G1 elitebook from 2014 4th gen i5/i7 from £230. Much better than most flimsy plastic rubbish laptops

I would say the £10 for a new battery offer is well worth it.

Well I don't know about any specific ebay listing, but the 14" version of this would have been Thinkpad T420, while the 15" was called the Thinkpad T520. The 14" are far more common, as being built like tanks, the larger ones do get a bit heavy.

I bought a Dell E6420 on ebay for about £110 for my Mother, did the free windows 10 upgrade and all is good. The HDMI out is really handy. Incidentally, if you need something to speed it up a tad, pick up a cheap ssd and move the hdd over into the dvd bay with an adapter. This worked out well enough that I bought myself one and did the same

wouldnt touch with a barge pole, and that "new" battery for £10 is either going to be dodgy, or dangerous.

I picked up an x220 and one of these £10 batteries with the ebay 20% off, the laptop is great, the battery on the other hand was advertised as having 5200mah capacity but lenovo battery stats report it as having a design capacity of 4400mah and an actual capacity of 3600mah or less than 70% of that advertised.

It says it has a 12.5" screen but doesn't state the resolution - anybody know?
Thanks,

It's 1366 x 768 for the normal non-IPS screen, not sure if the IPS variant has a higher resolution, but I would imagine it does. It outputs to 1920 x 1080 via displayport and VGA.
