Cat Mate Microchip Cat Flap keeps out unwanted feline visitors. Has been out a while now and is getting generally good reviews. I had a Cat Mate Electromagnetic but this fitted the same hole. Best price elsewhere is Pet Planet at £54.

What if another cat chases your cat and is right behind, will the flap close in time to decapitate the other cat?
What's to stop other cats learning the microchip code, making an identical chip and gaining access that way? Seems paw print identification and meow sound recognition is needed.

these are great... but when another cat tries and fails to get in, my cat go to investigate which then unlocks the cat flap!!!

I didn't know these existed, what a great idea, but now you have to lose the whole cat not just the magnet.

But they physically don't read the chip from the inside. They lock from outside to inside and the chip scanner faces out. These are perfect for keeping other cats out and it's almost certain other cats use your cat-flap at night and/or when the house is empty in the day.

Fantastic cat flap had the older version for years. Paid £80 and never regretted it

No decapitation but cat #2 gets a good bum sniff and if it tried following my puss into out hiuse6 my Jack Russell would bash cat #2 as she objects to anyone trying to hurt her mate.

I had to put an anti cloning collar on my cat to stop the other cats cloning my cats chip. It's actually quite easy for them to clone the details. They set up fake electronic doors around the neighbourhood and put chicken on the other side. A few days later...BAM.. They're in your house peeing on your sofa.

The customer service and warranty on these is very good, they never argue about sending replacements, 3 years later!!!

Does it support two cats? Is it battery operated? How long do they last and what happens if they run out? Lol

Battery last about a year from our experience, might not last as long if you have a very indecisive cat. When the battery is low the red light flashes...if it runs right out it defaults to unlocked. The light flashes for a couple of weeks before the batteries die so you get a reasonable amount of notice...as long as you know what the flashing light means, we didn't so only worked it out when it went flat and the cat's appitite apparently increased dramatically while we fed half the cats in the street.

It will register up to 30 cats. Batteries last 6-12 months. I have four cats and the batteries last about 9 months.

I'm not sure how that helps and presumably you have to catch the cat first to be able to do this...

they support something like 50 different chips/cats. I believe there is a low battery warning led.

I've had one for about 6 months, it's very good.
