without wanting to start a debate, i just noticed some turn offs:
no USB C
no SSD
but yes GPU, CPU and RAM are excellent

Comes with a GTX 980, in case it saves anyone else having to go to the website to find out!

Cheap and cheerful case, those internals! Only two memory slots and both filled, PSU doesn't appear even to have an 80 Plus rating sticker on it, never mind bronze, very basic motherboard, albeit features don't matter to a lot of people so so what... but... assuming it's as advertised, you win, John Lewis, it's cheaper than anything I could build with those components, assuming I wanted to, especially including that Windows licence, and that three year warranty is welcome. If I could find out a bit more about the PSU, I would even direct a friend to buy it rather take up a chunk of my time off building it for them. Have some more heat!

Doing a rough calculation it seems a decent price but I'm not 100% sure

without wanting to start a debate, i just noticed some turn offs:
I'm confused about the USB C part. Unless you mean something else, A/B/C usually refers to the plug/port. Majority of computers will have only USB A ports. Having a reversible type C port on a desktop would serve no purpose since it's used mostly as a device port rather than a host port.

Assuming the RAM is DDR4, the PSU is at least 500W 80 Plus Bronze and the motherboard is not proprietary, this is actually an outstanding price. I would challenge someone to build a PC of the same spec for less. The money saved could go towards a decent SSD and USB C pci card and still compare to a custom build.
Heat from me and good find

The ram doesn't need to be DDR4,even for video editing or gaming there's negligible improvements. As long as the PSU is good enough to run the system it should be fine, unless you want to upgrade in the future. SSD is a must though.

Any good for video editing?

Pretty much good for anything you throw at it. This is a Silverback Gorilla of a PC

Mostly fine yes. Single core performance here would be good and the 12gb would cover you mostly. If it's just sequencing & basic editing you're doing then yes this is 'fine', but any more than that and i'd be looking at older generation hex/oct core CPUs ('latest i7' isn't that important) or even older xeons.
The newer gear is technically 'better' and more efficient etc, however when it comes to editing/compositing/animating you want pure speed any way possible, and lots of RAM. LOTSSSSS of ram.
a 5820k rig or even an older 4790k, with a little overclock, would destroy this 6700 when it comes to multicore tasks (like video editing etc) Look at some cinebench scores to get an eye for prices etc.
The £50 discount code doesn't work, you sure about that?

That discount isn't OP, its hotukdeals detecting this is a deal at john lewis and that someone has posted that voucher code for this particular retailer.
OP says it's £829.95, and that's how much it costs on the site
The PSU is nothing special (Delta DPS-500) and I doubt it even has bronze efficiency, but you could change it further down the line. Cable management looks like a nightmare though in that cheap case with a 'gaming' fascia...

I was referring to the price of the PC, Not its relative performance. When you get pre-built machines at a good price like this, they tend to go big on the cpu and graphics, then use crappy low quality RAM, PSU and motherboard to make up for it. This one seems to be quality all the way (although, i can't confirm what motherboard it is using).
Either way, I heated and even mentioned it's a pretty powerful PC at that price

If this spec is correct then there are six usb3 ports. SSD are so cheap nowadays it's hardly worth talking about if the rest is so good

12gb is an unusual choice, surely it will lose dual channel mode if they selected a 4+8gb config?
