I have a gas bbq that I purchased from B&Q last year.
I haven't had to change the gas yet... does it matter what gas I use? (i.e. Propane, Butane or PatioGas).

I have binned the packaging so can't remember what we have at the moment.

I have always had to swap an empty bottle for a new bottle and then to pay for the gas within.
Is this definitely an all in price?

You order as many as you require, without any deposit. When re-ordering, in the comments box, just put down how many empty cylinders (if any) they can collect.
I have found this gas much cheaper than "Calor" cylinders, the only downside being sometimes I have waited 5+ days for delivery.

Had a bottle from them about 2 months ago which just didn't work - flame lit, then pulsed, then went out no matter what I tried it on (2 x gas fires, bbq etc). Gasdeal were no help at all, customer service was not bad just completely none existent.

In the end I got bored waiting for an answer and started messing with the cylinder (DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS). The cylinder was hideously over pressured. After letting a fair bit of gas out it started working normally.

They still have not got back to me with an answer.

Its a good price but servicewise I guess you get what you pay for.

Yes normal selling price, but I always find on these threads, (I've posted it a couple of times myself) that there are plenty folks who are unaware of it, and furthermore are unsure that they can change there cylinder to a different brand.

With the propane you can use it in a mobile heater in your garage at freezing temperatures. The butane could be frozen and so would not work.

i try to order and rang on tuesday and they told me they wants 50 something pound, if you haven't got empty bottle.
they told me that the 19kg propane cylinder don't need deposit.

Sort of missing out on the fact that this deal is for butane, so it was a fairly valid question if the bottle doesn't match what they already have. . . .

Its the lack of response that has p****d me off as opposed to the problem with the cylinder. It was interesting that when I have ordered from them in the past I get invited to place feedback on the FEEFO thing but on this order that invitation has not been forthcoming.

I know some people who are filling their bottles at the petrol station. They just install on their not so expensive cars outside filler with adaptor on the inside and pretend that is a lpg car. I think 13kg is about 20-25 liters so £0.50 per litter comes around £10-12 per canister. Just for the negative comments after I will say I would do the same thing if I used gas for heating.

It wasn't meant as a criticism, it was to show that there is no great rush to buy, as the offer price is unlikely to disappear.

As has been stated previous, your link says it has a propane regulator, to utilise the cheaper butane cylinder you would have to change the regulator.

See post #1 with pic of the 21mm clip-on butane regulator, these aren't unique to this deal, they are industry standard and the vast majority of butane cylinders use this same regulator.
GasDeal do them for £8.99, or are also available at your local caravan park/showroom, also seen on Amazon/eBay and such like, Amazon example

These are simple to change, only required a screwdriver and soapy water in a spray bottle.

Remove old one (as its new you may find its not even connected to the hose as yet?)
Fit new one with worm drive / jubilee clip.
Spray on soapy water over the clip and hose end, open valve gently until fully open, if you see bubbles forming then close valve and tighten the clip.

Done!

If you try the 7kg butane, it gives the option of return / new bottle so this is a fantastic price for 13kg with no return, thanks - ordered for caravan and bbq!!

Butane, calors blue bottle's are normally used for heaters and the propane, calors red bottle's are normally used for cooking and some blow heaters. All that being said, if you change the regulator as shown above both bottles will work in either.
The forklift bootle has a 'L' shaped pipe inside and enables the forklift to work off the liquid lpg not the gas like everything else.

Got this last year, bought the tank and the regulator to replace B&Q standard one. It's still virtually full unlike the dwarf B&Q one i had that needed filling about twice a year at the extortionate price B&Q charges.

Excellent company aswell, i phoned up for advice on regulator and they were really helpful and delivery was very quick.

Use these at work on my twin burner for cooking, boiling water etc. Its kept outside, inside a plastic tub to keep the frost off, and works fine all year. Good price and delivery was fast enough. Heat.....:laughing:

Most **** and mobile home residents use 47kg propane for cooking and heating. That being said , the bottle is outside, but obviously the hoses /pipes go inside.

My heater currently has a 15kg Calor bottle in it, how much physically smaller are these 13kg bottles?

Payed £20.00 yesterday from lpg4u for a 13kg bottle of gas yesterday with a 21m fitting with no bottle to exchange and no deposit.
They only deliver in Lancashire and Cumbria though.

They only charge £45.00 for there 47kg propane bottles which I found cheaper than any where else

It does, but you specifically asked if propane can be used in a heater designed for use with butane.

I'd be wary that using propane in a butane designed heater would produce carbon monoxide in a larger qty than in normal use.

The difference between a calor 15kg butane bottle and a 13kg propane bottle (apart from the contents) is a coat of paint. The bottles are made to withstand outside temps.

Propane cylinders would I imagine last longer before corroding as propane freezes at a lower temperature than butane, with butane freezing at -10 I think it would affect cylinders quicker...?

There's a calor supplier in Luton who stores all his bottle's inside his shop, now that is dangerous, over 200 various bottles but it's Luton so doesn't matter.

'Propane bottles are NOT allowed to be stored indoors because they have a higher risk of leakage because they contain a greater gas pressure in the bottle than Butane bottles.
Butane has a lower bottle pressure so is considered safer to be stored and used indoors in room heaters etc because of the lower risk of gas escaping.
