Sorry, being pedantic also but it's not 2 years old but only just 18 months, and in reality the 801 chipset is one of Qualcomm's greatest and if I were buying a phone for this price with an 801 chipset now I wouldn't be the slightest bit concerned. It's still very fast, doesn't consume too much juice and runs cool compared to the 805 & and 810. My Z3 which I bought on release day absolutely flies with it's Marshmallow update and has been solid as a rock. The Z3 is a truly great phone and never got the love it deserved. Still prefer it too to my G4, S6 and to a certain extent my 6P. Imho the only phone that can rival it at this price is the G4 and the build quality is not quite as good on the G4. This is a hot deal in my eyes.

Seems about the right price. Great phone, but about two years old now.

Not to be pedantic but I guess I am being...released IN Sept 2014 so 18 months old from first release. Sony were bringing z our every 6 months up to the Z5. Just divorced my Z1 after a love hate relationship. Sony great at supporting android updates but quality of updates often resulted I need for patches which they were slow to respond to. Sony mobile forum is very active and a great place to see if this phones bugs have been sorted. Based on my Z1 experience this z3 will likely be in its prime...sweeeeet! Unfortunately I am already in a relationship with a cheap floosie of an LG G4...I need to get out more! Good deal OP.

Not sure why this is getting voted cold as that's a good price! Shame they only have white left.

A very good price, and a very good phone. Battery life with the power save mode on gives me approximately two days use. That is with general daily use, for phone calls, texts, WhatsApp, web browsing via WiFi, YouTube via WiFi. Great phone.

Agreed, brilliant phone. Mine is 18 months old now, no battery degradation and still runs like a rocket. For the first time I don't think I'll be upgrading after 24 months.

Best phone I have owned. A few minor issues with it, but still better than any other Android phone I've owned. Powerful with a great battery.

They'll still be releasing phones just with a different series name, I don't see what the issue is.

Brilliant phone, shame about the flap over the USB port - fixed on the Z3 Plus and Z5 but that's about the only issue of note.

Great phone, get it and sign up for the Sony Concept Software programme and you can update it to virtually a vanilla version of the latest Android os.
Best battery I have ever had on a Smartphone. Tempted to upgrade but nothing out there really jumps out at me with the exception of the Nexus 6P.

Expensive for a 2 year old phone, the chip is outdated now

Ahhhh I'd love to be this naive about things and believe all the marketing gumpf that gets thrown at us.
The vast majority of Smartphones are massively over powered for the average users needs. People believe that they need the latest and greatest but in reality they 'want' rather than need. There is nothing wrong with that, but in the words of Public Enemy "don't believe the hype'.

still outperforms alot of current chips. faster than the octocore cpus. the is a reason why Qualcomm is returning to 4 cores instead of 8.
2.5ghz, not much faster clock speeds than that in current flagship phones.
cpu speed in any flagship phone from the last 2, maybe 3 years is enough to do everything easily without lag. battery life is now the weak point of most phones and the Z series is one of the best phones for battery life.
