I was having the same dilema Samsung or LG , but after speaking to experienced and knowlegeable sales people and reading forums went for a LG Machine.
It was 9kg 1400 and down to £400 from currys reluctantly. Got promotional 5years on machine and 10 years on inverter motor.
TIP:
Which ever one you get watch out for a hammer / banging noise when the machine fills up with water, nothing to worry about just turn down the water pressure going into the machine.

How do you reduce the water pressure going into the machine?

Had one (probably a slightly different model), broke about a month after warranty ended. Had someone look at fixing it, cost almost as much as a new machine, he recommended an LG too.

I had similar thing happen to me too had the washer dryer couldn't fault the machine when it worked though but was put off by the way it broke down after just three years

I would hang out for the 9kg model at that price.
Bought one a couple of months ago as I'd seen it on here £399 but got quidco and a further discount code.
Think that was Currys but John Lewis would no doubt price match.
Good machine though.

This site makes me laugh this goes hot yet nearly every other Samsung post goes cold despite being good deals with the miele nazis

The drum came away from the motor on the direct drive LG we had. Was great for a few years but once that went it was done. We actually got longer service out of a Beko than that.
Think ultimately you'll find horror stories about all brands. Would love to be able to afford a Miele but they're just too expensive when generally these damn things tend to break down when money is not exactly at its most abundant.

I have an 8kg LG steam washing machine for 4years & my folks own a 9kg for 5 years. LG was £200 more expensive even though I got a £150 discount by googling for a code online. I sometimes wish I got the beko because the programs are faster. 17 min quick wash on the beko as opposed to a 20min quick wash on the LG (without the steam function) that goes up to 43mins if I select the 1400rpm spin (41mins 1200rpm spin). Where as the beko is always 17min on the max spin 1400rpm.
Direct drive or not both are silent. I can't agree more about appliances stopping when the funds are limited. I can feel the LG will go first as I can smell burnt rubber most days after a complete wash cycle lately. hopefully I'm wrong because I'd hate to beaten by a beko lol. both are great machines.
