What I don't understand is that if vegetarians don't like meat, or don't eat meat for ethical or health reasons, why are they so keen to have meat - like products? there are a massive range of vegetables out there which taste a lot better than this rubbish and can be prepared and cooked instead of meat in almost all recipes.

sometimes you just need protein and a change... and i cant understand why every time a quorn product comes on hukd someone says a similar comment... why cant meat eaters just eat meat not vegetables surely that goes against the meat ethos

And not all vegetarians eat this
It allows people who like the stuff but don't enjoy the slaughter of animals to still have an alternative

Thought a sausage had to have certain percentage of meat to qualify - which is why Richmond do not. I have BBQ'd these and they just ---- do nothing, not even a sausage of a sizzle. COLD.

The minimum meat content of a pork sausage is only 42%. The equivalent figures for most other sausages are around 30%. These figures are low but they are the legal minimum and most producers will use more meat.
The definition of meat is based on new regulations which came into force in 2003. Broadly, pork can contain up to 30% fat and 25% connective tissue and still be described as meat. Beef and lamb meat can contain up to 25% fat and 25% connective tissue.
