Cheapest this version has ever been from Amazon. I don't expect this to get hot (bring on the usual "better spec phones available for the price" comments) - but price drop may be of interest to anyone looking at getting the Moto G quickly.
A few points:
1) Better spec phones available for this price (zzzz...)
2) £10 cheaper (with codes) delivered direct from Motorola, but currently quoting 24th March for delivery from China
3) This has a 5 inch screen. It's not a 5.5/7" "phablet" as most people offer up as an alternative

Don't know about nice but I'd sure settle for people not being complete d***s. Thinking about quitting hukd and saving my blood pressure. Who needs it?
Maybe I'm the only one but I came here for the heads up on the bargains.

Would much rather buy from Argos. Amazon are tax dodging scumbags.

My son has the 1Gb Ram / 8Gb version of the 3rd gen MotoG and I have the 2Gb / 16Gb. I know on raw specs there are better phones but we couldn't be happier. Unspectacular but solid and reliable performers... I like to think of the MotoG as the Skoda of the phone world! I only paid £10 more than this deal on release last year so I'll add heat but thought this would be £30-40 cheaper by now!
I also drive a Skoda

Most people would throw in the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 (better spec, larger screen) or the Huawei P8 Lite (similar spec, cheaper but with a bloated version of Android).
If you're buying the Moto G it's unlikely to be on tech specs alone. This version, with 2gb of RAM is no slouch, but it's the form factor, the smaller (5") screen & vanilla android that appeals to most people. Gets great reviews too.

Just to be a pedantic ****, 'cause I'm killing time: You've got your memory types all messed up. It's got 2GB RAM, 16GB flash, and ROM is probably in the KB, if there's any at all.

To be pedantic, you got your memory types messed up as well. Smartphones use a form of ROM flash memory called EEPROM for all their internal storage purposes. So this phone would have 16GB of ROM storage.

is it worth paying £40 more for the moto x 2nd gen using moto maker?

If you prefer a larger screen, I'd say so. I have a note 4 and a moto g & I personally prefer handling the smaller moto g - but for those who like or don't mind a large handset the moto x play is a great option.

It depends on what you are after.
The Moto X 2nd Gen has a much better quality screen than the Moto G 3rd, and also has a faster processor (in reality it only makes a difference in 3D games, the Moto G 3rd 2GB is quite responsive otherwise). However, the battery life on the Moto X is quite poor (due to the small battery capacity and less efficient processor), and the 13MP camera is not as good as the 13MP camera on the Moto G 3rd. Also, the Moto X 2nd Gen is limited to 16GB storage, with no option to expand, whereas the Moto G 3rd has a Micro SD slot for expansion.

Send me a pm for 10% student discount code and you can get it for 180£. (Or just use UKwelcome10 code for 10£ off).
I have owned a Moto x 2nd gen and it is a great phone. (I have jumped ship to Moto x force for 300£ on cpw).
It is a far more premium device and is not much bigger than this, has a way better screen and faster processor. The downsides are battery and camera, although both have been significantly improved since the reviewers had their go. With doze it lasted a day easily, sometimes even 2. Camera go pretty ok with updates, in good light it was really good, it struggled to focus in low light but would eventually get there.

Cheers. won't be taking the Huawei route got one before off the back of everyone on here raving about it, it's the only phone I've ever had to take back to the shop due to problems with it **** poor build quality. This is just edging smart ultra 6 from what I've read.
