I'm not sure if this is a pricing error but it has been reduced even more making it the cheapest iv seen it.
Found this on the Johnlewis site. it works out cheaper than the student price on the Microsoft store. All the surface pro's have been discounted.

Good spot. Still a bit high for my pocket but as you say, it's best available.
I may just go for the M3 after all as I'd only really want a windows tablet that I can do some drawing on, a bit of Google SketchUp, and the usual wibbly wobbly web and Office.
