EDIT: I went back today and they had an Acer AL1511 on display for 50p including a power cable which I got too. Works great.
I went to CeX today to get a refund for a broken 250GB HDD and spotted a sad-looking 17" monitor behind the counter. It had no sticker on whatsoever, but they ran it through the system and apparently the price was £1. They actually honored the deal! It didn't include the 14V PSU but I have one spare and they chucked in a free VGA cable too! It's a Dell Ultrasharp, an older model (2002) but has VGA and DVI ports. Just what I needed as a server status display that's only going to be used to setup new OSes and change BIOS settings.
They also had a (what looked to be, it was hard to see) Sony 20" TV for £18 and a couple of other displays.
I'd been previously also and managed to find a 19" Dell display for £6 which was also hidden behind the counter which works great as my main display. I had no idea CeX sold displays until recently - just remember to ask staff if they have any.
Proof for the display I got today (I lost the receipt for the other one) - http://i.imgur.com/QfFrd2B.jpg - it looks like any 17" monitor would be £1 looking at the product name
Picture of the display - http://i.imgur.com/QLyLfKq.jpg - yeah I know it's old but for what I need it for it's great.

Err...me, for one.
I wouldn't fancy cooling my 4690k @ 4.7Ghz in a laptop or tablet, I don't think my H110i would fit.
Are you always this stupid, or are you trying especially hard today?
Oh yeah, some of us don't have hundreds to spend on new monitors if we need something cheap.
No one uses desktops? Frankly I'm too tired to rant about how most of us do but that statement is so wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's national as I've seen monitors in other CeX shops too - it's just today I decided to ask. There's still a few generic ones left in Guildford. This post is more of a heads up that if you do see one it's worth inquiring about the price.
I did a store search and we have two in Glasgow
I've walked past these shops so many times and didn't realise what they were I thought they were - like cash convertors or pawn shops Thanks OP heat.

I read somewhere it was 36 months now...
I can't find a PSU anywhere for it actually - the one I thought I had was only 12V whereas this monitor needs 14V. To buy the PSU on Amazon is £10 so instead I'm going to grab another monitor from eBay for £10. However they normally include the PSU so if you find this elsewhere hopefully it will come with one - basically they explained that this particular model had been in the store for a while and they'd lost the PSU, but everything else they sell comes with one. Apparently they purchased the monitor for £0.30 lol

You'd be a lot better eBaying for that - I've found the desktop prices there to be a bit more that what you'd get on eBay. What are you looking for? Something like a Lenovo M57 / M58 or Dell equiv. would do nicely for browsing and can be around £17 + RAM and HDD or £30 prebuilt. If you're looking for something more powerful, eBay is still the way to go except in rare cases (like that system posted two weeks ago).
EDIT: I've put together a list of stuff that looks like it would fit your requirements that's still in the moderation queue but essentially you can get a dual-core, 250GB, Windows 7 system for £30, which is better than anything you'd get at CeX.

https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SMEM8CMD - 512MB RAM for 10p, I can only think of it being useful for testing desktops now (they also do it for the same price for laptops)
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SHDD460D11 - 40GB IDE hard drive for £1.50. Guessing it would be useful for fixing an old PC?
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SCPUIENA11 - Pentium E2180 for 50p. Could be useful for testing a 775-based motherboard I guess or including in a sale just to show it works
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SPERK2GE2PA1 - generic PS2 keyboard, 50p. Might be useful for an old PC.
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SMEMD7AA - 16MB (yes, MB) SD card, 5p. The only use I can think of is holding the boot files for the Raspberry Pi to allow it to load Linux from a USB. Same price as a plastic bag.
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SGRAAFHG4P10BAA - GeForce 8500GT, £3. Would add dual-monitor capability to a PC and allow it to play (basic) games
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SMP3GENR - 4GB MP3 player for £6 - useful for travelling or where expensive iPods might get broken?
