Text CALL ABROAD to 441 from your EE mobile and you get a free opt in to cheap call rates to 67 countries worldwide, e.g. Europe 5p/min landlines and 15p/min mobiles; India 5p and 5p. Normal rates are extortionate (around £1) so a good deal for no real effort. Was posted over a year ago but expired (I think they changed the text number).
Not saying it's the cheapest but it's a free, easy opt in so good to switch it on for the odd occasional use I'd say

Better to opt in just in case you need to use it to call abroad urgently.

Scroll down on the link and press one of the + signs to get a list. However, it looks like the site is down at the minute. You can still text to opt in though obviously.

Not for me, but it's a handy head's up. Personally I can manage just fine with Skype - I managed to get a deal on cheap credit through here a while ago and have hardly used any.
