I already had a Tesco card so I phoned them to see if they could give me the same deal but was told "we can't give you this but you can have 2 cards at the same time"
just incase any existing customers wanted this deal  I got a pretty good credit limit too!
I got one last year with 21months interest. great card and nice to get vouchers off my shopping

I phoned up as well and they said that they couldn't give me that deal and that a second card could be opened. I opted out of getting a second card since i don't want too many credit cards in my credit profile/rating.
Great offer none the less

Surely if you opened up a second card you could just close the other???

Does having too many credit cards have a negative effect on your rating then?
I used to have about four or five, maybe even six a few years, whilst now I got three.
I've only ever done the free interest balance transfers on a couple of big purchases many many moons ago and paid them up well before the interest free ran out.
Nowadays I don't seem to have the need to buy such big things and thus pay my balance in full every month on all the cards regardless how much or little the amounts might be.
I can't imagine that would look bad on any credit report?

Better to use them if you have them as long as you are good at paying them off. Late payments hammer you credit score. Having a big credit limit doesn't get you a better score. I called my bank and lowered my credit limit because I rarely use it, and clear it every month when I do.
