Vodafone is giving lots of 4G data for as low as 10 GBP. Recharge with a value bundle and you get 50 GB data bonus for 30 days.

Vodafone are the worst company I've ever had to deal with. Absolutely shambolic customer service every time. Avoid them it will save you a lot of grief if anything ever goes wrong.

it's bad enough that they charge you per GB but to say you can only use that within a set period of time is ridculous, OFCOM need to step in there.
Imagine if (insert petrol station name here) took back any unused fuel they sold you if it hadn't been used in 30 days lol

Every mobile deal we get: "worst customer service ever" and "you won't get a signal" - no matter which provider it is.

It's pretty obvious with millions of customers they won't please everyone. For me, I've had endless problems with Three - someone in sales sending a new phone and starting a new contract without asking, wife got a text saying it's coming, when she called they realised someone was boosting their sales and the account had fraud blocks on it. From that day forward we had endless issues until we cancelled the account, which was an adventure. I had great customer service with O2 and was with them in one guise or another for 13 years but moved to the middle of nowhere and O2 have zero service here, so we have had to switch to Vodafone. We get good signal pretty much everywhere, people round here have to use Vodafone or EE if they want a signal, and our data speeds are several times faster than home broadband which struggles to get half a meg on a good day.

I have found Vodafone service to be very good, got several devices with them now and zero issues, I tether my iPad through my phone as that's quicker and more stable than my home internet.

Sure, your experience won't be the same but to state a provider is terrible everywhere for everyone because you didn't get good customer service or have a good signal is a bit strange.

I live in a new build and Vodafone have the right frequency to go through buildings so just now I have had 20mbs upanddownload where as I would need to go outside to get this, so really it's down to us all to get the Free sums to check coverage

that wiki link has to be the worst backup to an argument i have ever seen,
but to clarify, for the dumb asses out there, a much closer analogy would be
if you hired a cab to take you from manchester to lancaster, the cab gets stuck in traffic on the ring road and after an hour the cab returns you to home saying sorry but we ran out of time oh and you still have to pay for the miles done!

2 Mar 16 #64
LOL - a personal insult to round off a quality post or were you signing off?

No I don't work for a mobile provider (I actually hate how they operate at times & don't get me started on mobile retailers). So you have never heard of limited mileage car rentals... oh dear. Have a read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_rental#Rental_conditions

Next you accept that you pay sky per month not by how many channels you watch & yet you accuse a mobile phone provider working the same way of being terrible!

It is a service, they can offer whatever terms they wish & you can choose to take up that offer or not - accept that & put the anger to bed. I would understand your anger if part of it was hidden or changed at short notice (heck I'd be angry too).

I take it you work for a mobile provider? no one else could have come up with such an idiotic statement since when does hertz hire cars by the mile lol
also you pay sky for access, not per film(tho u can if u want) or station, its a fixed fee they don't charge you more or less for watching more channels or less channels which brings us to mobile data, do they refund you for unused data?
dumbass.

Absolute rubbish - Hertz I haven't used my 450 miles in my 3day rental can I bring it back in a week? Or Sky you say I can watch hundreds of channels for a monthly fee, but I need 6 months to watch them all! This is a service, not goods. If you don't like the way mobiles work, don't have one or go pay & go.

Worst EVER customer service - DO NOT TOUCH. I won't bore you with the details; please ignore the apologists, they ARE the worst of all providers in terms of customer service. If anything goes wrong YOU ARE STUFFED. Never dealt with such a messed up system of call-centres, web chats and automated phone systems - each and every team contradicting information that the others have told you. AVOID

Unfortunately it seems the same can be said of a lot of the big companies in the UK now. Check out the CS feedback for
ThreeUk
BT
Talktalk
British Gas
Scottish Power
Barclays

The list goes on and on :-(

It seems these days, you have to have some faith that the service will be set up correctly initially and then pray you don't need to contact any of the scripted CS agents to deal with any problems.

I guess some of you are following comments on the 20Gb contract deal.
Seems the contract deal, there is no netflix despite advertising it, lots of failed credit checks that miraculously get resolved with a phone call (therefore losing £84 cashback) and CS haven't got a clue.
On this 50Gb deal, it never turned up even after a discussion with online chat.
Shame as the in building and central london speeds are pretty good.
I think I've seen enough of Vodafone to make my decision.
8eaker
25 Feb 16 #56
Will update here. So far so good though.
Not too worried about speed at home as have wifi there and it was fast enough for most things (7Mbs on 4g). In Central London, Speed tests on 3uk I was getting 2.17 down and 0.10 up. On voda 14.3Mbps down and 11.6Mbps up.
As for CS, I've seen multiple comments on CS, where one said they are bad but not as bad as EE and 3. Myself, apart from having a selling agenda and very scripted, 3 have been ok on CS unless its off script. To be fair, little remains off script these days anyway.

Hmm, been 36hrs now I think. showing I have 200mb left of 500mb allowance :-/ Might be time to test the dreaded CS before switching to contract.
On other matters, the data speeds at home (4g) were way behind 3uk, but here in central london, things switch completely on their head. 3 is near on unusable on 4g (better to force 3g!) where Voda is very good.

I got sim last week and purchased the £10 value bundle.
How do you get the 50gb? Do you have to txt a phrase to a number or something?
MyVoda is showing usage out of 500mb. Not too bothered as just using it as a tester in my regular locations before committing to the 20Gb pm sim only contract .

Yes I currently move between EE & Vodafone as the we have very poor broadband EE 100GB data is very value however they are currently making it difficult if you have ordered it before. Vodafone good value pay the £10 the sim arrives just pop it in done would like too see the same off as EE £10 for 100GB instead of the 50GB currently.

Amazing 10gb is so much you cannot use it all. Not because 10gb is ablot of data but because voda is slow and patchy signal

That's a bit broad brush IMHO. For example LIFE mobile CS is excellent, prompt answering, genuine efforts to resolve issues, call back to check everything is OK once sorted (plus a UK call centre which helps). I also find Sky CS very good as well.

Vodafone is worst customer service. It took me 6-7 calls in 4 months to get refund of £50 pounds they overcharged me. Each time I called, they promised to refund, but never did in next bill. I thought it might be me, having bad experience, but then read their trust pilot reviews, which are shocking. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.vodafone.co.uk

That does seem strange. It's definitely compatible. Although, I can't say I really hear anyone praise Vodafone for their coverage these days. I'm on the fence of if to move to the BT deal or this, but I think I am swaying to BT now.

Good point, but it's a UK Nexus 5 (D821), so should fully-support all the UK 4g bands. I've read quite a lot about Vodafone removing masts, so maybe that's it? Also noticed total loss of signal on a few random occasions and generally quite a weak/poor signal compared to what I got on Three and what my girlfriend gets on O2. On the fence at the moment as to whether to stay, or cancel and jump on the BT deal (esp. as we've just ordered Infinity).

NEVER EVER EVER EVER cancel the direct debit!!

When you take out a contract, they WILL record a mark on your credit history which will affect your ability to gain credit in the future.

I took out a contract, cancelled within the cooling off period (unused sim-only). Customer service was shocking, they told me that they will be kind and not charge the cancellation fee. I kindly told them, it is against the law to charge a cancellation fee under the Distance Selling Regulations.
Two weeks later, bill for £192 appeared on my door mat. Rang CS, 6 times I was told, "just cancel the direct debit". I told them, if they wish to charge me illegitimately, I will expect £192.06 refund, £50 for going overdrawn and £20 for the hassle it's caused me.

A couple of weeks later, I was charged...even though legally they should not have. Rang up customers services, spoke to a lady in South Africa, India and then finally the UK. They had to send me a cheque for £262.03 in the end as they recognised that I should not have been charged and their own customer services was incorrect in advising me to cancel the direct debit.

Yep, they're all rubbish. Then you leave the country, go somewhere like Scandinavia or Ireland where the government took more of a hand in the shape of mobile network coverage and cry that in a place with 10x the population and apparently the healthiest competition in the mobile industry, we can't get close.

If you read my post, clearly stated the service has deteriorated. I was happy with them till a year ago.

I would just cancel dd like other member suggested but my mobile contract also with them.

Plus the fact they have been billing me wrong for 6 months kind of sums it up.vodafone has made some changes in fear of the upcoming competition from the 2 major mergers and it hasn't worked out.

I've just moved to Vodafone on the 20GB/month Red Value deal that was posted on here. I've yet to see a 4G signal on my phone with it (and I work in central London!) Was with Three before and even got 4G at home, which is in a rural location way outside the M25.
