Looks like a great deal for the 20GB Sim only 12 month contract from Vodafone.

Unltd minutes
Unltd texts
20GB data (incl. tethering)
12 months free Spotify, Netflix, Now TV or Sky Sports Mobile

Reduced from £40 per month to £20 per month. Possible cashback from Quidco (£40) or Topcashback (£78.75) too

Offer ends 3 March 2016 (http://www.vodafone.co.uk/shop/bundles-and-sims/sim-only-deals/index.htm)

Netflix shows on link below:
http://www.vodafone.co.uk/shop/bundles-and-sims/sim-only-deals/b/index.htm
- kkh786

Beware that Vodafone is the only major network that doesn't cap data, so if you go over your 20GB limit it's £6.50 for every 500MB (inc. VAT) of extra UK data you use. This is automatic, too, so please keep a close eye on your allowances guys, otherwise it'll sting you in the long run.
- preecey

Quidco now £60: for 12 month SIMO contracts of £17 and £22

- messiahcomplex8

Quidco cashback £60 for buying it through Carphone Warehouse. £63 from TCB.

- nuttyphilt

Cash back now £84 @ TCB 24/2/16

I am so pleased that Vodafone has decided to do this.

I'm on the One Plan. Three want to double what I pay from £15 to £30 per month and limit my tethering to 12GB..

Now I can tell 3 to get lost and move to Vodafone and with cashback pay less than £15 per month for 20GB and unlimited calls and texts and get a year of Spotify or Netflix. If I don't get the cashback, it is still a great deal.

3 must be regretting sending all those letters now.

The Vodafone website even says 'Great news for Three customers. Offer ends 3 March 2016'

Serves 3 right for treating their customers appallingly.

Best three could do was unlimited calls, texts 4GB for £11 or unlimited calls, text, data for £20.

If you're with 3, don't forget to claim your six months of free Deezer before you use your PAC

http://try.deezer.com/three-web/

I've also just discovered that you get access to BT wifi premium hotspots, which is a nice extra, especially if you don't have BT Broadband.

Vodafone trying to attract all the three customers who have had their price plans increased and unlimited tethering stopped. I'm still on the one plan £14 includes unlimited net + tethering, until that is I receive a letter in the post telling me that deal is finished. I'll make use of it until then.

Yes, £19.20 a month.. but with 2 months chucked in free (was credited £38.40 on my account).. so averages out to £16 month.

I know there is cheaper options available like the virgin sim.. but this does also include the 12 month entertainment pack

I was offered the exact same must be their standard offer atm or for this contract. I refused it. Will probably take my number over to 3 with the 30gb tariff being down to £18/m atm. I'll have to act soon as thats ending soon.

30 Jan 17 #1357
I have 2 Voda contracts from last year, both due to expire in Feb.
Went on webchat and asked for retentions.. took a couple of transfers, but got there in the end.
Anyway, was offered 40% off any renewal + 2GB extra + 2 months free.
so: 20GB+2GB for £22.20
or 12GB+2GB for £19.20
or 8GB+2GB for £16.20

All came with 12month entertainment pack, and 2 months free.

I opted for the 14GB for both.

Hope that helps.

19 Jun 16 #1348
I sorted the £5 fee, it is with tcb. When you open a new account they automatically put you on a premium account and you have to cancel the subscription or they take the first £5 of any cash back you receive. I managed to cancel it so no fee
bunkum100

So it was tracking at £80 then changed to £50 once payable? That needs investigating, contact TCB.

I now have £80 confirmed too.

This week I have spent 2 hours on the phone to Vodafone and completed a 20 mile round trip because they cancelled my DD without telling me then stopped all services on the phone because they didn't take payment. Sorted it all out back then and Tuesday I got a bill for £4.17 for a late payment. Robbing barstewards finally agreed it was their fault and refunded it plus 50% line rental, not without threats of the Ombudsman though.

That allows you to opt out of Euro Traveller, not Euro Traveller Plus. I have called customer services three times and they've told me there is no option to opt out, nor can you do it from you account on the Vodafone website.

You are correct however on the calls back to UK landlines and mobiles. But you'll still end up paying the £3 daily charge if you use any data, send any texts, or call your voicemail, as detailed below from the Vodafone FAQs on their website.

If you’re travelling in our Europe Zone you can make free voice calls home to UK mobiles and landlines (starting 01, 02 and 03).

You’ll only pay the £3 daily charge for EuroTraveller Plus if you:

Call a non-UK mobile or landline
Send a text message to a non-premium rate UK number
Use data
Check your voicemail
DealJourno
25 Apr 16 #1298
WARNING EURO TRAVELLER PLUS: Just a note for anyone who signed up to this deal. EU roaming prices reduce by 75% on the 30th April.

You have Euro Traveller Plus (Not Euro Traveller) included in your contract which you can't remove. This could be useful for people who use their phone a lot when they are abroad.

But it will be expensive if you just make a few calls daily. Example: from 30th April you will be charged less than 5p per min to call the UK from Euro Zone 1 areas. Total cost of a 3 minute call would be 15p

But make a 3 minute call on Euro Traveller Plus and the cost is an automatic £3 daily usage charge (minutes are taken from your bundle)

Not much good for those who only use their phone for a few mins daily abroad and use wifi instead of mobile data.

Vodafone won't remove this from my account, I am trying to establish if this service forms part of my contract.
livreg to DealJourno
25 Apr 16 #1299
But as part of Euro traveller plus you can ring back to the UK using your bundle mins ie in this case unlimited as thats what this tariff is. I've phoned back to the UK and haven't been charged anything as it's included in the tariff. This does not apply to texts or data though. In that instance it may be cheaper not to have the £3 daily charge depending how much you use.
nuttyphilt to DealJourno
25 Apr 16 #1300
This is wrong.

Euro Traveller Plus is included in this contract and it allows you to call back to the UK from Europe without any extra charges.

Also, from the Vodafone website:
'When you buy a Red Value Bundle you automatically get Vodafone EuroTraveller Plus included.

You can opt in or out of EuroTraveller Plus at any time during your agreement. Text ADD or REMOVE to 40506 or call 5555 free from your Vodafone mobile.'

Have you tried texting this number?

Only thing they could do was cancel the previous request which would take 72 hours and then make another request. I phoned them last Friday to transfer my Three number to Vodafone. Had to explain to telephone agent that the PAC I just gave him was to transfer to Vodafone and not from Vodafone! Should have realised then that I wasn't dealing with a normal company. They then cut that off in error, so the shop gave me another SIM (new number on it so another 12 months Netflix) to connect and was meant to PAC my number on to, couldn't and eventually managed to re-connect my number onto it (so another 12 months Netflix)

Yeah all sounds familar... I've had about 6 bills generated now, all for different amounts/dates on 2 numbers, neither which is actualy mine.
Not paying any of them till its sorted, the best story I head on the phone to their billing team was that I got a bill generated for the following month that I could see as a PDF at my end on the appbut for some reason they say they can't see bills generated in advance LOL
Also getting different balances/bills depending if I look on the app or online, wtf?

Used Live Chat a couple times about this, hopeless isn't the word.

Eventually gave in and called again yesterday, got a Scottish bloke who went through them all and advised my balance showing is wrong and told me there was a credit to counteract the balance that I can't see but will resolve itself next billing date (9th April).
I've made it clear to them am not paying any bill until I can see it clearly billed for the correct dates/amounts and will not continue the contract until it has been resolved, 14 day cooling off period or not.
Still nothing on TCB, but not bothered too much about that as the £270 Netflix credit more than makes up for the hassles!

After a very shaky start, things seem to be getting better. Quidco have paid me out of their own pocket so not missing out there. CS is very hit and miss. Might have to redial a few times to get to someone capable of actually doing what's needed. Seems to be the case with all providers, once you are up and running, it's fine. Rarely need CS after the first few weeks.

If you read up a few posts yiu will see my issues, which remain unresolved. Today I realised they have simply delayed long enough to exceed the 14 day cooling off period. Do not accept anything Vodafone CS tells you unless you have it in writing before agreeing. Even my £20 credit hasn't been applied despite a text message 'assuring' me it was happening.

It's the blue light card police employees. Completed form which was asked of me on live chat, they verified me by emailing work address and that's it! Even though bill shows up as £20 pm I've confirmed 5 times with different advisors on live chat it is £16 a month. After the TCB it's less than £9 a month with Netflix too. Also used my phone in Poland at the weekend to call home as you get EU calls included and this worked fine too, no charges.

I went through tcb when this deal first was advertised. The consensus then was not to bank on getting the cashback due to the wording of which contracts it included.

That's what I got when I loge a claim about TCB not tracking at all

Hi There,

Thank you for your message.

Please be aware that claims are submitted in batches to the network for review on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis. Once the network receives the claims they have to review this with the merchants to receive a resolution. It is from the date of submission that we expect a resolution within 2-3 months, which is stated on the Important things to know on the make a claim page, as below:
'Once you’ve lodged a missing cashback claim, we’ll have all the information we need to investigate your cashback with the retailer. This process often takes between 1 and 3 months, although it can sometimes take longer. We’ll be in touch with updates along the way.'
Whilst on this page you were given the above and other terms to accept before continuing to lodge your claim, as below:
'I confirm that I understand the above and still wish to lodge a missing cashback claim.'

Please be aware that cashback is not guaranteed and should not be used to make purchasing decisions, this is stated on all our merchants pages as below:
'Some merchants may not be forthcoming with untracked cashback. We endeavour to chase untracked cashback but reserve the right to halt enquiries at any time. Please do not make purchase decisions based upon expected cashback as it is not guaranteed.'

We will continue to lodge your claim with the next batch of claims that are sent for review, and once your claim is submitted we will be in touch to advise you further.

Regards

Katie

For those that have cancelled, make sure you check your bank statements as I cancelled yesterday due to poor signal and although being assured no money had been taken, £20 was taken out of my account today.

I've just done a live chat on the website and it should be refunded in a few days, but apparently was taken on the 8th so the person I spoke with on the phone should have been aware of it.

Well, I should have known better than think everything would go smoothly.

Vodafone seem to have created a new order instead of completing my online order that was referred for further details. I went instore to try and complete it but it seems the store staff saw a chance for a sale and created a new order! Since then I've been getting regular emails asking me to pick up the now completed Web order. But when I go instore they tell me they can't find the order. I've called twice about it but they either tell me it's now cancelled or they can't find it!

Absolutely disgusted with Vodafone so far. I have spent a combined 6 hours on the phone to them since 01 Mar, the day the contracted started. Each time they have assured me that they will sort out the fact my first bill is for two months, a bill for £40 less than 14 days after the contract started. I even had a text message confirming a £20 amendment to the bill to fix this. Today I find they have taken £40 direct debit anyway. Another call to them and nobody at Vodafone can understand why I have an issue with this! I am happy to accept that the amount is correct for a full 2 months of the contract but my issue is that it shouldn't be billed a full two months, I certainly shouldn't be billed from the 28th February until 28th April as the service didn't start until the 1st March, when the SIM card arrived. My wife's contract was taken out 10 minutes before mine and has been fine apart from failing to track too.

Current call has been 25 minutes and seems I am now going to speak to a 3rd person as they just put you on hold each time and then someone else picks up the call, resulting in a further 15 minutes of explaining how unacceptable this is.

9 Mar 16 #1210
My argument is that both Vodafone and O2 are far more aggressive in pushing you onto 2G during calls when compared to EE. EE will hold onto the 3G signal for longer before dropping down a level.
spencer24
9 Mar 16 #1209
It's not really rocket science to figure out if you have a weak 3g signal it will drop to 2g for a phone call as a weak 3g signal is no good to anyone if you make a phone call or not!
On the other hand if I was on 4g and made a phone call it will drop to 3g not 2g.
preecey
9 Mar 16 #1208
Edited now.

But they do actually still have a small roaming agreement on 2G on some old legacy Orange masts out in the sticks. In rural parts of West Wales I've been able to connect to Orange masts that haven't been MBNL'd. When connecting to such masts Three only permits voice and text access only - no GPRS.

Three won't drop to 2g any more as they don't have any. Used to have a deal with Orange and before that O2 for 2g, but that stopped a couple of years ago.
preecey
9 Mar 16 #1205
My advice isn't rubbish; for the most part it is correct.

Vodafone and O2, in areas where 3G signal is medium to low, are more likely to drop down a signal level (in this case, to 2G) to prevent dropped calls. This obviously creates a nightmare for those looking to surf the web at the same time, as GPRS is slower than dialup.

EE holds on to the 3G signal for as long as possible during a call, and when it gets too weak they will also drop down a level to 2G. Three will hold on to a call for as long as possible while on 3G but if the signal gets too weak the call will drop as they don't have 2G backup.

Take a look on the Digital Spy Mobile Phones forums, there's a lot of people on there who can explain what I'm saying in more detail. I'm no expert, but I have certainly seen this network switch (3G to 2G) first hand during a call while using Vodafone and O2.

If you go into network settings on your phone and select 3G/4G it will ignore 2G completely. Obviously you will need coverage for 3G/4G or both. During a call it will fall back to 3G as Vodafone are currently only testing VoLTE. Meaning 4G is currently data only..

8 Mar 16 #1188
Because Vodafone and O2 nearly always switch to 2G/GPRS while a call is in progress - they've always been like this and is my pet hate of the two (primitive) networks.

EE and Three tend to stay on 3G while a call is in progress, providing the signal strength is good enough. Plus Three doesn't use 2G networks except in highly rural areas - so with them the lowest network type you'll be connected to during a call is 3G.

Really frustrated. Not sure how i am going to solve this problem. Egyp call centre's english is just the basic hello, hi, bye type. They cant deal with the complex scenarios.

DPD driver misdelivered the sim card on 2nd. Someone took it and made £240 worth of international calls to "red hot line" in Tahiti. Fraud team decided to place a fraud bar on the account and did not even contact me.

Called vodafone 5 times and only the 6th time they told me what the problem was. High usage in such a short time (within few hours of activation apaprently).

It has been 10 days since i placed the order and i cant even cancel the contract at the moment.

Because of vodafone and DPD, i am now going through so much stress. The credit search done for nothing which will effect my credit score now. No netflix, no tcb, no line and i currently have a bill for £240.

I am so angry i want to strangle the dpd driver for not doing his job the way he should have. Seriously, how can he throw the letter underneath the building door and sign the letter on my behalf forging mu signature. Surely, thats illegal. I will do everything i can to make sure this is investigated and he gets what he deserve.

Now i have to call vodafone over and over and not sure it is going to solve. Fraud team tells me to contact costuner service to open a dispute. Costumer service requests that i wait for fraud team to investigate which will take 14 days. That is pass my 14 days cancellation period.

not sure who is going to bother reading my rant but i had to say something to avoid everyone going with vodafone. Turn around and run...

Has anyone had confirmation of the correct amount tracking on TCB? In my case it's £84 but only showing as £1 at the moment on my TCB dashboard.

I am guessing TCB couldn't have promoted this deal unless they had a contractual agreement with Vodafone to offer the cashback on this particular 12 month discounted contract. So the question is are Vodafone planning to honour their agreement with TCB which should in turn lead to payments being made to customers who signed up for their contracts via the TCB site.

I think I'm just going to cancel mine, in my experience things either track immediately and you get the cashback, or they don't track, you wait months and the claim gets rejected so you don't get anything.

I had similar issues, running back and forth to the shop, started billing my account on the 16/02 - yet I only got a "working" SIM last Saturday - worked for a few days - then died - spent days trying to get it sorted out - in the end I took it back to the Shop - he told me it wasn't even registered to my account! - After fighting with them for nearly 3 weeks I told him to bin it and posted off a cancellation letter and letter of complaint, 3 had offered me a deal as above - today 3 said it was no longer available! - Very close to never using either again! 3 weeks ago there was a multitude of offers, now there's nothing!

I had exactly the same issue - tried to collect in-store, IT issue, offered to recreate the order, meaning Quidco wouldn't track.
I didn't agree to place a new order in-store, as they said that they weren't authorised in-store to give me any further discount.
Instead, I phoned to politely but firmly complain, saying that I would have got Quidco if it wasn't for an issue at Vodafone's end, and asking if they could give me the equivalent of what Quidco were offering - best to go in high! They didn't do this, but they agreed to give me two free months, so better than nothing.

No issues on either package here. Only issue I have is the two months billing in the first 4 days. I was promised a £20 credit to cover this but it hasn't appeared, neither has the re-bill they told me they woud do. Our company has over 45,000 contracts with Vodafone so I should have known better.

This happened to me.

I phoned up on Monday too ask why the two months free deal hadn't been applied, and the girl I spoke to said the girl who offered me the deal didn't put anything about it in her notes!

She said she's get a manager to listen to the recording of the call, and if the girl said it, which she definitely did, then they'll give me the discount. She said they'd get back to me. That's almost six days and I haven't heard from them.

You better take the 3's deal now and if you want to stay with vodafone, you can cancel 3 upgrade within 14 days. Thats what i have done.
When i called 3, they insisted i couldnt take that deal anymore as it was no longer on my account. I said i want to cancel all my other accounts. He transferred me back to cancellation and he allowed me to take the deal.

If you wait a bit longer, you may not get it as vodafone's deal is finished now. Vodafone is just pure pain. I will go to store tomorrow and see what happens. But in the meantime, i am secured on Three's deal...

Bitterly regretting my PAC switch to VF. I have very poor signal even in town centre. Often no data at all. Lost the chance of decent deal with Three. Guess I'll go onto a 30 day SIM only deal with someone as a holding pattern until something better comes along.

So today marks the penultimate chapter of this saga for me. I spoke to Vodafone returns yesterday to get a PAC code to take my number back to EE. The lady I spoke to (Ellie) was professional, efficient and as different to most of the live chat agents as is possible to imagine.

She was able to close down the duplicate account that was opened in error, after live chat agents telling me three or four times that it already had been. She couldn’t generate a PAC code for me yesterday because my number was only ported in to Vodafone yesterday, but promised to get back to me today. I got my PAC by text around half an hour ago.

If ever I come back to Vodafone, I will do all my customer service transactions by phone as the live chat agents are both not empowered to resolve anything of any significance, and happy to lie to suggest that they have.

Best of luck, all of you who have signed up. I suspect that like most services, once it is operational it is fine.

I ordered on Wednesday night via Quidco (£85 cashback). Went into the store to pick it up on Thursday, then again on Friday, but they told me that there had been a problem with the order, and I'd have to reorder. They were going to allow me to order at £20 (instead of £40), but they weren't authorised to give further money off.
I phoned up Vodafone today, and had a bit of a polite moan about missing out on the Quidco cashback etc. They gave me the £20 deal, with the first two months free - so effectively £40 off the overall contract. I went for this. Not quite as good as Quidco, but better than nothing. Including the Netflix credit (I already pay for a Netflix subscription), this will end up at (£240 - £40 - £89.88) = £9.18 per month. So not bad.
Just letting you know about this, in case you could phone up and they could give you something similar.

Totally agree and I'd put money on them getting some amount from vodafone through affiliate links. They need to be sorting customers out with the correct cashback seeing as they allowed the deal to be advertised on their sites.
Vodafone are hardly blameless too. Plenty of us were ordering via quidco/tcb but the orders didn't fully go through. Smells strongly of vodafone recognising orders placed via affiliates and seeing that they don't go through fully online which is a requirement for quidco/tcb.

Gets worse for me, got an email & text today to let me know that my order (WEB) was still waiting for collection at the Vodafone store!

On further inspection, when I have went to the store to collect the SIM under that order number, it hasn't went through, they said they had IT issues. So they have created a new order (SBL) so this will not relate to my TCB purchase at all!

Just off the phone to customer services, have cancelled my contract (still within 14 days) and have cancelled the DD, still have the Netflix credit on the account though the girl says this will be cancelled (not sure if it can be/will be?)

So awaiting my PAC code again, need to find another good deal.. any recommendations?

4 Mar 16 #1134
This gets better. So they cut my number straight away and not at midnight as they advised, so yeah didn't receive my PAC code.

Went into the store today to see if they could help, armed with my original confirmation email, the receipt they gave me and copied of my TCB claim.

They managed to recreate my original order so issued a new sim to that, obviously with another new number.
They then told me to contact customer services, who could reactivate my number onto that SIM. 3 phonecalls later and its still not sorted.

Apparently they now need to send yet another SIM out, with my number on it. Not holding out much hope, so currently have a temp number that I don't want and God knows what the billing is going to look like.

On the plus side, I did receive another text to activate entertainment package again so stuck another 12 months on Netflix so currently have £180 on there!

That will make up for the lack of cash back by looks of it!

Personally, I'm beginning to think the sales agents are on commission and are profiteering from Vodas lackluster process. You apply and it isn't clear if you've been accepted or not. Some new customers then phone in to inquire and the agent on the phone offers to investigate. They cancel the online order and then put it through again therefore claiming the sale. Just an impure thought, but I can't help wonder if some new customer inquires end up being new orders some way or another.
screamingninja to 8eaker
4 Mar 16 1 #1133
You're not being cynical in the slightest. More truth in that than anything impure! Sales weasels will try anything nefarious 'within limits' to get a sale and yes, they are commission driven - targets/bonuses are all part of it. They're not all bad but in general plenty in retail would sell their own grandma for a sale.

They ask you all sort of security questions online, and turn around and say someone tried to access your account. Therefor, we put a warning on the account for your protection. Protection you say? What protection?
I cant even use the sim. If its someone trying to access my account, you just make sure they cannot access the account and ask me to change my security details. You dont treat me like a criminal and block my use of the network. Who can try to access my account, i still dont get it. Like seriously! Why would you cancel the whole simcard. They dont even call me to notify me, nor send me letters. I am fuming with anger. What a terrible service. I am so glad it went downhill. Imagine 12 months with these crooks!

Now i have to go to Vodafone store to confirm my identity even if i want to cancel the contract. I will have to face those terrible people at the Vodafone store near me. Awful costumer service there. They think they own the bloody store!

Good point. But why would they offer a deal that won't pay out and therefore won't earn them commission. TCB claim to give users 100% of cashback so I've heard they way they monitise the process is they get big kick backs for volume of traffic, so if they send 10000 new customers Vodas way, they get a kick back. Can't believe they would post 'unlikely' deals just to get throughput as it damages their own rep.
leeeastham
4 Mar 16 #1127
I know TCB have their disclaimer at the bottom of the page but surely specifically advertising cashback for a particular package then saying '[Sorry but it's too good a deal so don't expect to get anything]' is in breach of some form of legislation. This is compounded by Vodafone putting the banner in their basket page, directly linking them to TCB and the expectation that you will get the deal you clicked through from. My screenshots above are clear evidence of the above.

Just had a reply from TCB about the bulk non tracking issue. I have to be honest, the reply shocked me a bit. As said before, its a good deal without CB, but not sure I can do business with a company like this now. Makes me nervous. I'll carefully consider it over the weekend before cancelling within 14 days. TCB quote below:

"Unfortunately due to the high discount this offer would give you it is unlikely that we will receive the cashback for this, but if this doesn't track for you within the seven days from your purchase date then I would recommend lodging a claim as we can then chase this for you this way and will do all we can to get the cashback for you."

Apparently the criteria is that you were on the 12 month contract and never went over about 5-10GB of data. If you complied with the contract they offered and actually used AYCE data (10GB+) they are punishing you. She left anyway and has the OP deal as well as a proper signal at home and work.

Now using my temporary Vodafone number so far everything has been working well in surrey and London. Number PAC requested last night and was given a date Monday 7th for switch. Credit was £80, which was at the time TCB showed me. Online team added this for me and I confirmed the credit by calling customer services who also confirmed. I did have to chase Vodafone up on several occasions but so far it has been worth it. I opened a support case with TCB as soon as it didn’t track I was given a long list of things to try (Clear internet browser, try and different browser, the list goes on.....). Basically a complete run around it register my clicks tried 5 times but didn’t track! Any cash back I would have received would have been paid into the Vodafone account anyway so this has cut the middle man out.

Three UK
I was offered the £20.00 AYCE Data plan when I first requested my PAC, and then again from the second team I spoke to who generate the PAC. This was the £30.00 plan (12 Months) with loyalty credit of £10.00.

Three’s deal almost won me over. Outgoings would have been (£20.00 + Netflix monthly charge)
Netflix free for a year which I was paying
£80 credit Vodafone
Works out around £13.3 over 12 months = win win.

Sorted for the next 12 months.
Reminder added to my calendar for next year mobile haggling time.
Good luck for all the rest on this deal

Two new Voda accounts on two different TCB accounts that normally track fine.

I've called Vodafone and despite explaining to them that I am ready to move another package to them if they can do something they just kept telling me they don't know what TCB is so can't help me. I'll keep my package with three as it's a £6 saving from my old one plan rather than a £2 increase for a data package I'll never use all of. We have a Spotify and Netflix account from the other two contracts and NoeTV doesn't appeal, neither does Sky Movies.

A further development of potential interest to some posters (thinking of moving to Vodafone from EE).

After the catalogue of woe set out in my earlier post, I tried my Vodafone SIM for a 50 mile round trip to an appointment at lunchtime. I was a bit surprised to notice that for a lot of the time, I was only getting GPRS, even though I was on A-roads for all of the journey. I came back thinking that perhaps I was a bit spoiled by EE’s 3/4G but it might be difficult enough to use 20Gb of data with Vodafone, however good the deal was.

A little while ago, I got a call from EE retentions offering to check if they could give me an offer that would make me stay. I thought they wouldn’t be able to get close but they offered unlimited calls & texts, and 18Gb of data for £15.99/month on a 12 month contract. My previous contract entitlements such as calls and texts roaming in EU, free 080 numbers, and double speed 4G data are still included.

Even though it will be a bit of a palaver, I accepted their offer. It was too late to stop my number port to Vodafone but they advised that once it does, I ask Vodafone for a PAC and port back to EE, cancelling within the 14 days which I am entitled to do. The only obvious loss in this arrangement is the entertainment offer, but I’ll cope with that.

Best of luck all with your efforts. I’ll keep an eye on the thread to see how this plays out.

That is shocking if true by Quidco. TCB actually had a clearly advertised 20Gb £20 section for £84 cashback and a button next to it. If TCB\Vodafone try to say this is not the case, then someone should get in mighty deep water.
Does anyone have a screenshot of the TCB offer? Its very clear and feel a very interesting story unfolding here.
I love Quidco and TCB, but if there is any misleading advertising, then there needs to be so tough questions answered. Maybe the blame lies with Vodafone for offering up the deal to TCB/Quidco (I find this more likely than the cashback sites themselves).
On paper, its a cracking deal without CB, but it takes the edge off it and is very deceitful.

It's not the best is it? I thought I would double check before taking the plunge, as had talked myself into going for it finally, but was worried about Quidco as they didn't specifically mention the deal in the rates section like TCB did.

Turns out it's a good job I did. £20 a month is still a good deal for everything you get, but more than I want to pay on a monthly tariff at the mo. Hopefully this helps others in the same situation, who may want to cancel their orders in light of the above.

The TCB deal should be fine, as they had it all clearly setup. It's only Quidco, our overlord and master on here, who could be seen as being a bit sketchy. Legally they are perfectly ok, but the page does seem set up in a way to possibly mislead people.

I am familiar with most of your problems, unfortunately. My wife ordered (well I did the ordering on her behalf) this deal on Monday night (29th Feb) via Quidco. Story from there is as follows:

- Got an email from VF saying "we need to check more details etc".
- Spoke to VF via live chat on Tuesday morning (1st March) to see what the order status was and told that it hadn't gone through due to a technical fault
- submitted a second order through Quidco, which resulted in the same "details" message. Decided at that stage to give up
- one hour later, got confirmation that the first order had gone through. An hour after that, got confirmation that the second one had gone through.
- no Quidco tracking for either order. Raised cashback claim for first order
- got emails and texts on Wed morning (2nd March) that SIMs were being delivered yesterday.
- waited until received and then raised Quidco cashback claim on second SIM
- contacted VF via live chat to cancel first order
- received email to say that bill available on first SIM. Checked and details correct - £20/month. I didn't insert first SIM as it is being cancelled so don't know if text inviting redemption of entertainment offer would be sent
- received email to say bill available on second SIM. Checked - £40/month! No text for entertainment offer.
- contacted VF via live chat re billing issue. Got unconvincing response to say that extra cost would be refunded, but I vehemently advised that I didn't want to pay it in the first place. Also requested Wifi calling to be provisioned but thus far, hasn't happened
- contacted VF again today via live chat re billing and Wifi calling issues. Was advised that billing issue would now be corrected and the bill would be £20/month. Also advised that Wifi calling would be available within 24 hours.

Position as of right now is that bill is still showing at £40/month, no sign of cashback tracking, entertainment offer or wifi calling. I would be tempted to cancel except there is a number port in progress which is due to complete by 4pm tomorrow. Given the catalogue of disaster so far, I shudder to think what might happen if I was to cancel.

It's a shame as fundamentally it's a good deal but the administration is a complete shambles.

Mine showed £40, and still does, as they have billed me for March and April in one go. Both my wife and I ordered this package and despite on the orering page having a banner that showed 'You're on your way to Topcashback' neither of us have had it track but at least she hasn't been billed at £40. I was going to get another for myself as the one I ordered is for my daughter (I know I won't get two lots of cashback) but I'm not going for it if there is no cashback on my first order anyway.
Very disappointing all round and frustrating hte deal will end today.

3 Mar 16 #1087
Yeah, not too hopeful, but have had reasonable success in the past. I guess its just a case of cancelling within 14 days and giving up on deal which is pretty good on its own, or sticking with it, hoping cashback finally gets resolved.
Ultimately, I believe its in TCB and Vodafones best interest to resolve this as both will have damaged reputation with affected customers who will think twice about renewing or using the service going forward.

I'll probably stick with it, but we gleefully leave VF at the end of my contract if not resolved.

TCB on the whole have been good so it would be a slight chink in their credibility for me, but not a reason on its own to make we stop using them just yet. You're guaranteed nothing if you don't use cashback sites, but might get something if you do...

If this whole saga turns out to be a stick without a carrot on it (to lure customers in with the intention or wriggling out of paying as many as possible. Much like the redemption cashback deals of old), then the affected customers should make it as awkward as possible for the parties involved and ensure the negative press it deserves is achieved.

I had a direct debit email after I had already cancelled, so that was yet another phone call. I don't know why I bother going for mobile deals, they are always a pita and they are the worst companies to deal with. For topcashback and quidco not to work suggest a systemic problem..

My 12 month £10pm 10g (after redemption) finishes next month so am looking for another contract...phoned voda yesterday and no deal on this deal, the only offer was just over £10 for 5gig. Hi Riggie1 my daughter was on an excellent £10.00 plan on vodafone so haggle with them request that PAC if you have to. She only left as she wanted a new handset. They are valid for 30 days and if not used expire. When it comes to the end of my 12 months I will not be paying £40.00 for this contract I am pretty sure nobody on here will. I have been onto Quidco and Topbashback and I am slightly lost with it all. I have just cancelled my three contact so need to get myself onto a new one.

Also does anyone know when the Vodefone deal runs out? I thought I saw something about it finishing on 03/03/2016 which is today.

Had an auto response from Vodafone that my application had been cancelled. Just phoned customer service and they sorted it. Very helpful lady. Probably screws up the TCB but to be honest this is a great deal without. I've been with Vod before on contract and had the same issue signing up. Lady said that have been a lot of issues like this today...so if you do have a cancellation email and are willing to risk your TCB cashback - give the customer service a call. Just a heads up from my (very recent) experience.

Mate it's a nightmare two shops first after topcashback didn't track, second after quidco didn't.

Torquay guy takes my phone with top cashback page to his manager in backoffice. Manager says "you don't get cashback until you've paid six months, we never offer credit on deals this good. Vodafone don't offer additional credit on manager's specials." Basically seeya.

Plymouth didn't want to know either. If we did cashback we wouldn't make any profit, I can't help you.

Online Chat cancelled the order and didn't offer anything until after the order was cancelled. Definitely didn't offer any account credit.

Pawan: As I can see you have order of (12mth SIM only Unlimited Min Unlimited SMS 20GB 4G Red Value Bundle)
Pawan: This is order is placed well and is currently in open status
Pawan: Cheers ****!!
Pawan: I have Cancelled your order as per your request
Me: Thank you
Pawan: You will not receive this order now.
Pawan: Your welcome ****
Me: Have a nice day
Pawan: Are you looking for best available contract??
Pawan: Our sales team can provide you best deal
Me: I wanted that, but wanted the £85 quidco I'll try again and see if it tracks
Me: If they match the cashback I'll buy direct
Pawan: I'll request you to look once for the available contract from here because the deals available on the chat is unmatched sometimes
Pawan: And you will not see these deals on the web-site

Sometimes you just have to accept your flogging a dead horse, so I guess I won't be a Vodafone customer.

I don't see why not. When you choose netflix and click the link use mobile network ie not WiFi and then it takes you to netflix page where you sign in if you've already got an account so if you sign into the same account it should just add the credit twice.

I've got 7 days left of my 14 day cooling off period, and will cancel it if they are not going to pay out.

Shame, as it's been smooth so far for me, first Vodafone bill out and is correct at £19.31 (24th Feb - 23rd Mar), and got a great signal both inside and out and about in Nottingham.

My Quidco tracked and has paid out already (£40) which is the fastest I've ever had from them, and Netflix credit went through fine too. Vodafone did however screw up my first bill, which is for £40. When I phoned up for this deal, the girl from Vodafone offered me two months free. I received an e-mail saying £20 would be coming out of my account straight away, and another in early March.

I phoned Vodafone yesterday to ask when I'd be getting the two free months, and the girl on the line said the girl who offered me the deal hadn't put anything in her notes. She said she would ask her manager to check the recording of the call to find out if I was offered the two months free, or not.

As I was definitely offered this deal, I'd imagine I'll still get it, but if anyone if offered a discount from Vodafone, I'd advise them to say to the guy/girl from Vodafone to make sure they leave a note of it in their records.

I just said there seems to be a large number of people that aren't seeing tracking from Vodafone over this weekend for the £20/20Gb deal. Is there any problems?
I don't expect they will reply though.

As I'm sure most others are well up to speed with the pitfuls and procedures to maximise tracking chances (clearing history, turning off ad blockers etc), I think it would be interesting to keep each other informed of progress over the next few weeks if raising a missing claim. See if we all get the same excuse/outcome. Don't blame those cancelling if not tracked within the 14 days though. That alone might spark VF to credit accounts etc, but we'll see.

So, so far, no-one over this weekend including Friday have had TCB track? Please step forward if you have tracked TCB since Friday for this deal. Not sure if no-one tracking gives me hope or not tbh.

Decided to go for this in the end but my TCB has also not tracked. I know cashback is never guaranteed but in this case I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known it would not track - there's still time for it to track, of course.

TCB ask to users to wait 7 days before submitting claim:

"Although they can show within hours, transactions can take up to 7 days to appear on your account. Could we ask that you make sure to allow this time before getting in touch?"

Did everyone else see this banner on the Vodafone website after clicking through from TCB?

Ordered on the 25th, picked up from the store. Apparently my order got 'stuck in the system'. Up until today my sim won't receive signal. Customer service is terrible... And I cannot cancel my contract as well, as it has to receive signal first.. As soon as it does = straight cancellation and never ever Vodafone again! Customer service is a joke

Given the information that we have been provided by the merchant we would expect to see this become payable around the end of May, this is based on the payout speed of previous transactions made with this merchant.

I am not able to provide you with a concrete date as to when you will see this transaction progress to confirmed and payable as this is something that the merchant does and we have no control over.

I ordered through TCB on Friday to pick it up from a store. Received all the emails including the confirmation to pick it up from my local store the next day. TCB didn't for more than 18hours so I decided to lodge a claim.
I picked up the sim yesterday (Saturday), put it in phone and it hasn't activated yet (Sunday). I rang the customer services, a lady in the USA said the account is under someone else name (previous owner that had the same number) and I will have to wait 48 hours. I got fed up so I told her I just want to cancel. She transferred me to the cancellation team in the UK, the guy said the same thing and I will have to wait until the sim activate to cancel. He then transferred to another team (Caribbean), at first he wouldn't even listen to me because the account is still in the previous owners name. I explained to him that I just want to cancel and he said he can't do anything until the sim activates.

I am just thinking of ordering it again though TCB, hoping it tracks this time.

I ordered this deal on Thursday, it was delivered on Friday, and up and running inside 10 minutes.

I got the text for the entertainment deal and all four options were showing (I went for Spotify)

TCB has tracked at £1, but it does say clearly on the listing for this deal on TCB that it tracks in 24 hours and will be confirmed within a month, and payable in 30 - 60 days.

All gone very smoothly for me, had no need to contact CS and see no reason why TCB shouldn't payout. It's not unusual for TCB to take a few weeks to show at the amount advertised.

Man, what a faff. So it turns out I should not have believed the coverage checker which showed good 4G signal inside and out where I live from VF. There is no 4G and barely any 3G. Apparently I failed the credit check, which is very odd - My credit report says my rating is excellent so don't know whats going on there. Got passed around a few people, its being escalated - he said I can put it through over the phone which I didn't want to try as I would get zero cash back.

Just for info, Vodafone use Experian apparently so see what they tell you. Of course, none of the credit reference agencies can tell you that much as all they do is provide info to the retailing company - Vodafone in this case - who then apply their own criteria to determine whether they want you as a customer or not.

It is almost amusing that I can get a substantial mortgage, sizeable car loan, operate these and all utility bills throughout my adult life without a blip, and Vodafone thinks that I am not worth the risk for a £240 SIM contract. Actually, it's almost insulting.

I also got a free credit score report and its basically excellent, 5 out of 5, right near the top end, "highly unlikely to be refused for credit and can take advantage of the best deals in the market place".

A lucky escape from a vodafone nightmare i think.

As well as telling me my PUK code over the phone, 3 sent me a text containing the code.

If 3 had offered me the same deal I was on, The One Plan, for £20 I would definitely have stayed with them. I've noticed others on this thread were offered all you can eat everything for £20, but I wasn't offered either of these deals, so I'm with Vodafone now, my number ported over yesterday.

I've done speed tests at home, and where I work, and Vodafone speeds are better there than 3's in both places. I managed to get the NOW TV deal that other don't seem to be getting.

Cashback is never guaranteed, tho. So I would never factor it into the overall discount.

That said, I have never had TCB let me down, but Vodafone seem to be the sort of company who will do anything to get out of paying.

In this case it's obvious they allowed cashback for this specific deal to counter CPW. This was done to remove any bargaining power from the customer, and enable them to try and get out of paying. For example: All these mysterious orders that don't work via the referral link, but magically go through when they ask you to ring them.

If you're unsure about customer service or signal, get your PAC off 3, sign up with Vodafone via Quidco or TCB and then check that you get Netflix, signal and cashback tracks. Then, and only then use your PAC. If you aren't happy, you can cancel with Vodafone in the first 14 days. 3 are going to charge you 30 days in any case from the date you ask for your PAC, so you might as well wait.

My experience buying this in a Vodafone shop was perfect. I later had £60 credited to my account to match the CPW cashback when I threatened to cancel and reorder, I'm getting billed £20 per month, Netflix credit of just short of £90, no problem with PAC, signal is great and I'm particularly pleased with indoor and rural performance in comparison with 3. I also think BT premium hotspots is a big plus for those who don't have BT Broadband.

So close to pulling the trigger on this, but after these comments I don't see this company are fit to trade in the uk.
The deal certainly is good (if you can get it).
I also took the payg 50gb sim to try them out and the data speeds in london are impressive compared to three, however, the 50gb failed to materialise and only have 100mb left of 500mb. Tried once to get this resolved with CS and failed. They gave me a link saying I need to register online account but the the link says "We're working hard to fix the issue, so please try again later." I'm sure its been the same for some days.
They registered for me on their side, but still no 50Gb and I have no details to login to account other than on phone with sim in.
With all this and the netflix scam, I think its time to walk away.

The cashback stinks of a dirty trick to get you to phone to lose the cashback. Netflix to intice you in, but not available when you try. Surely Voda are going to get in a whole heap of trouble for this, or more likely they will get away with it!

Looks like their CS is crap. Had a similar experience.

Ordered online to collect from store, received email to collect. Store guy said they cant find the order despite me showing the emails from Vodafone. He wanted me to create a new order from the store, which I declined. Contacted them over phone, who said they have stopped people collecting orders from store (not even bothered to answer my query why they still sending emails to collect from store) and that he will send it via post, for next day delivery. Nothing came for three days, so eventually cancelled.

Saw the TCB cashback, ordered again online. No contact at all or confirmation email except for we need to check a few things more! COntacted them via chat, who said the order cancelled due to credit issue and asked me to ring. Rang them, who magically fixed everything and that my order is accepted. Its been two days again and still no sign of sim. Had an online chat, who said the order is complete and that i need to give a voice authorisation on 191 for it be delivered as it is a costly contract. Bizarre.

Such a shameful customer service.

Addendum (they address me as bro always via online chat!)

I guess I was one of the lucky ones.
I ordered online after going through quidco , but realised the cashback was better through TCB.
After I received my sim I put it in the phone and about a dozen texts appeared.
So I rang vodafone on 191 to cancel and gave the cashback as the reason, they offered me £60 credit to stay.
And because so many people seem to be having problems with cashback I accepted their offer.
Using one of the texts I had received I followed a link to the Enertainment offers, selected Netflix , signed in to my Netflix account and the voucher for £89.88 was applied to my account within a couple of minutes.

I just wish the galaxy s6 offer on O2 refresh had been this uneventfull.

Having asked that I don't know if I want to go with this deal after reading comments here and elsewhere.

Poor customer service is only a major problem if you need to use it - unfortunately it seems I'll have to use it from the get go with this offer.

There is a thread on MSE about people being called and offered a free tablet to thank them for their loyalty. What they don't say on the phone is that it comes with a new contract. Seems to be going two years after it was first complained about on the site. Pretty disgusting behaviour from Vodafone.

Edit: that people are having a problem getting Netflix and TCB tracking is also putting me off.

I've been told by Vodafone it was an option when I upgraded on Wednesday, then when it didn't come up was told over Online Chat " i am sorry, netflix is not a part of our subscription now", which when I queried was then told " i have added netflix on your account".

It hadn't appeared later that day so when queried again was told " I would like to inform you that we now , do not give the option of the net flix to every customer,we only provide that to selected customer, because of that you might not be able to see that option", to which I pointed out that it was offered when I took the upgrade, and was then told "I have checked and confirmed that it is added on your account. "

I checked later - it wasn't. So called CS, was told they had sorted it and would send me a new weblink which would include the Netflix option. They sent me the link - it didn't. Called CS again, was told that they would fix it and to expect a new email which would contain a link with the Netflix option within the hour, "although it may take up to 24 hours, or in some cases 48 hours". I am currently 26 hours into that 48, still no email.

I followed the link I got in the text, was asked to enter my number, did so, got a 4 digit code via text to continue. The resulting page had all four options on it.

Click on Netflix, you get taken to ask to login and it applies credit to your Netflix account

I've just found out that the PAC code I got from Three won't work. Possibly I have misunderstood what was said on the phone. Annoyingly they don't text it or send it, just read it out. Anyone know what they usually start with? It should be three letters followed by 6 numbers but I have one starting 8TG.. which is not correct...

Ordered this deal yesterday and collected sim from the store. Sim won't receive signal and when going into my Vodafone account online it says no services have been linked to my account ? (Maybe because they are still setting it up) ?? Any ideas guys? TCB hasn't tracked either ?? If I want to cancel all this thing, what do I do ? Can I just go back to the store and cancel this contract and direct debit ?

Finally bit the bullet and went for this via TCB. It's tracked at £1 so have contacted them to query this. Will have 14 days to cancel this. Three offered me the AYCE everything with 12gb tethering for £20 but didnt need the minutes ideally wanted to stay at £15/month but they wouldnt budge for any tariff was basically the £20 deal or anything from the website. The netflix part of the deal is what swung it for me so if that has been removed I will be cancelling this.

Oh dear! Sorry to hear that.

I spoke to another agent, Anthony, earlier just to try to get this closed off one way or another. He firstly tried to tell me that as I had ordered through CPW, it was them I would need to speak to as Vodafone "had nothing to do with any credit check" in such cases. When I responded advising that 5 of his colleagues had advised differently during the week, offering to escalate and come back to me (although none did), he changed his tune and said if I hadn't had a reply, it was because there was no change in the Vodafone decision. He also advised that this would remain the Vodafone position for 90 days.

So that's that then. Off to 3 I go.......

Still no TCB from yesterday and when I went to order a second line today (wanted to see if first one worked ok) surprise I had same as others, unable to process online so had to call which they then processed the order for me ie dropping the link back to TCB/Quidco, as some have noted I suspect this is deliberate to stop the hundreds of claims going through.

Sounds very suspect particularly if it magically goes through when you call them. If you fail check automatically, why would you suddenly pass when you phone?
What happens when it fails? Does it say to call them? Do you get the option to say no, I don't want the deal as no cashback?

I've had quite a few issues, the customer service certainly is bad. If it wasn't such a great deal I think I would've walked by now. Initially they billed me at £40 even deal was meant to be £20 a month, so I had to call a few times about that. Even something as simple as getting a SIM card was a pain. They sent it via a courier, so had to be signed for, courier only delivered in working hours (unless you paid extra). In the end I just picked one up from the shop. Took a couple of attempts to activate it. I had problems setting up Spotify but got that sorted in the end (hopefully). Still cannot get the mobile (iOS) app to work. Called & been on the online chat a few times about this but no one seems to be able to fix it. It's not a major inconvenience but it's good to be able to check your balance, bill etc. on the phone rather than the awful website. I just hope that's it and I don't have any more problems!

Had a similar experience. Ordered online and collected from a local store. Sim appears active (gets a signal) but when I try an outgoing call it just says "balance too low" as if it was a PAYG sim. No welcome text or contract details email, nothing. Every time I contact CS they "helpfully" offer to forward me to their PAYG team as the sim's showing as PAYG in their system. Eventually someone says the sim should activate "within 24 hours" which I suspect is BS to get me off their back. Naturally 24 hours later and then 48 hours later, still no dice, still "balance too low".

Eventually someone claims order is still showing as "pending" in their system; this despite me supposedly having collected it more than 2 days previously. Offers to escalate it and personally guarantee to chase it up for me (yeah right). At this point I decide to cut my losses and ask to cancel the order. Whether it actually has been cancelled is anyone's guess.

Hmm, seems the best bet might me to see if Vodafone will honour cashback directly by crediting account.
Anyone had any luck directly with Voda and the higher cashback amount?
Or maybe, if it fails going via TCB and you have to ring them, ask to confirm deal hasn't gone though then say not interested as will miss out on CB and see if they offer the credit?

My SIM just arrived today through normal post, didn't have to sign for it. I ordered on Wednesday morning but had to ring up as the order wouldn't go through online. I am guessing I have missed out on the cashback.
I had my call today from Three as a final go at getting me to stay on for unlimited phone data/12GB tethering for £20.

If I could reliably hide the tethering I would consider it...

When you sign up, they usually send you a link to a Vodafone offers page which (after you've logged in) displays the options available for your "Entertainment Package", you select one and it gets processed (in theory). When I did this the page only displayed Spotify and Sky Sports as options, no sign of Netflix or NowTV.

Contacted them over Online chat and was initially told when I queried this (copied from the transcript) - "i am sorry, netflix is not a part of our subscription now" and "I would like to inform you that we now , do not give the option of the net flix to every customer,we only provide that to selected customer, because of that you might not be able to see that option"

Still waiting for them to fix this, even after two online chats and two phonecalls with CS.

But it only runs on TCB for a couple of more days and Voda finish the deal next Thursday I think.
As its black and white on TCB site for this specific plan, I can't see they can decline it.
What worries me is the amount of rejections we're seeing on here which results in a phone call that then means its not an online transaction = no TCB. Deliberate? Lets be honest, its not in Vodas favour to make all deals go through smoothy is it. Must stop having these untrusting thoughts ;-)

Would be interested to hear if anyone has managed to go direct and get the £84 credited to the account. Might ask on chat later.

Oh btw, I did ask online chat and they said netflix IS still part of the deal.

I applied this morning, as a new customer, and its all gone horribly wrong!

Account created but application failed.

Called up sales, took 10 mins to tell me it had been declined - discussion over.

20 mins later, received a mysterious call stating I was adding a number to a family bundle?
I was very confused, didn't realize it was from voda and hung up.

Called sales back a second time, they had a closer look, and my address wont validate!?
After some messing around, submitted over the phone - declined again.
Now been 'escalated'

Should have taken note of the voda reviews, probably got a load of credit searches now.

I too have had 5 promises over 3 days that someone would escalate my declined credit check to a second level team, and come back to me. You can guess how many calls I've had - yep, none.

My cut off for this is tomorrow when I get home. If I haven't heard from Vodafone, then I will consider it a lucky escape and walk away. To be honest, there isn't that much in it for me, when I compare the offer versus the Three retention one.

With TCB, I would get it for £13.26/month net, but as I am in the Republic of Ireland quite a bit, I would add the £5/month Ireland Plus. So £18.26 vs £20 in favour of Vodafone. The differences are that for that extra £1.74, I can use the Three SIM in any of the feel at home countries. But Vodafone gives me calls to the UK and includes Netflix/Spotify etc.

Either looks good though. It's interesting that O2 and EE haven't made any effort to compete against these tariffs.
