I am so pleased that Vodafone has decided to do this.

I'm on the One Plan. Three want to double what I pay from £15 to £30 per month and limit my tethering to 12GB..

Now I can tell 3 to get lost and move to Vodafone and with cashback pay less than £15 per month for 20GB and unlimited calls and texts and get a year of Spotify or Netflix. If I don't get the cashback, it is still a great deal.

3 must be regretting sending all those letters now.

The Vodafone website even says 'Great news for Three customers. Offer ends 3 March 2016'

Serves 3 right for treating their customers appallingly.

Best three could do was unlimited calls, texts 4GB for £11 or unlimited calls, text, data for £20.

If you're with 3, don't forget to claim your six months of free Deezer before you use your PAC

http://try.deezer.com/three-web/

I've also just discovered that you get access to BT wifi premium hotspots, which is a nice extra, especially if you don't have BT Broadband.

Phone them and select the I'm thinking of leaving vodafone option. Say you want to leave and see what they offer you.

If you want to transfer your number to a Vodafone Sim you will have to port it to a non-vodafone provider first (with a 1 month sim only deal) then once you've done that you can port it back to Vodafone, so best to see if they will give you the deal without all the mucking about first - they should if you point them to the page with the deal on...

can anyone confirm the corporate discount can apply to discounted sim deals?

I have just spoke to an advisor on chat and they said the corporate discount is for non offer SIMS

In any case the corporate discount will not work if using a cashback company and it works outs just a bit cheaper to take the £50 cashback rather than a 20% discount over 12 months

Of course cashback isnt guaranted - but shame you cant do both

just to counter the "slow speed" comments. I get 48mbps down and 16mbps up constantly on vodafone 4G. so much so, I turn off wifi at work as the broadband here tops out at about 8 down and 1 up. luckily I get fibre at home else I'd use 4g there too. when I was on EE, i would have full signal but no connection, even texts wouldn't send.

£40PM? This £20 pm is what the standard price should be and even then its not a bargain. Im still using my 100gb pm payg superfast EE sims which effectively work out at £2.50pm.

The corporate discount is such a joke if it cant be used on offers like this. The standard Vodafone prices are just so uncompetitive that 20% discount on standard prices is still ridiculously expensive.

I haves been with Vodafone - but recently their service has been shocking, so I had discussed with them and they arranged a "Prime Contact" in the UK which they advise they usually charge for but had given free due to the fact I had been having issues, well since last week I have called left messages and had no joy with call backs and when I finally get through to someone all I do is get passed around the building, they have also failed to reply to my emails from last week.

I am sorry to say- there standards have dropped drastically and maybe the reason for the deals "fire sale!" due to the loss of so many customers. I am so disappointed...... but time for me to move to another network (just remembered it feels at the moment like the issues I had years ago on three network!!!!!!..... where are my options???? BT, EE, O2) all we want is a good price with good service .... can it be so difficult?

I'd jump at this if it wasn't for Vodafone.

I have three issues with Vodafone:

1. Inept customer service teams
2. Terrible 3G/4G coverage in South Wales compared to EE
3. Their reluctance to cap data

Voted hot anyway, because it really is good value for money for what you get - providing that you:

1. Don't need to ever call customer services
2. Have decent coverage in your area
3. Keep a close eye on your allowances AND set a data warning in iOS OR set a conservative data limit in Android/Windows Phone to allow for discrepancies e.g. a limit of 19950MB should be fine

I have gone for this. I was on the one plan with 3 and their customer service was cr%p. They seemed to have my card marked

They would only offer me AYCE data for £30 as stated in the letter or a deal that was advertised on the website for 4gb data, no in-between. I was then transferred to retentions and the deals were the same. I then emailed Exec office due to the way customer services lied stating they did not have a complaints dept, kept me on hold repeating over again what a great deal the 4gb plan was (which anyone can buy on the website), then said I will transfer you to complaints and cut me off!!

Exec office were worse, smarmy and abrupt. Said I will send you a letter stating what we have discussed but if you are considering speaking to Ofcom I would not waste your time as this is a business decision and they will not interfere. Awful, awful service.

I have 2 other plans with 3 and as soon as they are at the end of their term I will never darken their door again

I have heard the customer service is bad with Vodafone but to be honest I do not have high hopes for any of them now.

My cashback has tracked with TCB but at £0.00

Just ordered. Went for the 52£ cashback option though as can't see how that won't track!

Effectively £6 a month after spotify and cashback deductions.

I've been with Virgin for about 8 years but sick of waiting for 4G. All they say is 'it is coming within the next few months'.

Virgin seems to be the only one that 4G covers my house too!

Thanks OP, heat!

From my own experience VEA can be hit and miss. They can argue that this contract has already been discounted. But if they palm u off the first time, u can complain again and again if you have the patience for it. More often than not, u can get somewhere with them but no guarantee. For example, I took out a discounted 6gb contract £30 down to £27. Applied for VEA and they rejected it for that reason. Got through to a very helpful member of staff and she gave me 26% off rather than standard 20%. They even messed up my billing twice but they wiped the Slate clean for those bills too. I'm only paying average of fiver a month now with quidco, goodwill payments and discount. Can't fault them for trying to make their customers happy but can be frustrating over the phone depending on who you get. Also the chat facility can handle most things. Better than ee in this respect.

It wasn't on my account (last year I got a good discount without it) so I put the code in and it accepted it, I think it's a decent deal for £20 so the VEA is a bonus for me.

Silly question. How do you compare the network upload and download speeds. I downloaded a couple of apps but they use locations of Newcastle or Carlisle but I live in Perthshire. I would not want to switch if it meant coverage was poor and speeds were worse than Three who I am with now.
helmethead to chuckies27

You can't easily compare speeds but you can compare (estimated) signal strength at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/mobile-coverage
preecey to chuckies27
10 Feb 16 2 #152
You will find that Three, who use MBNL's 3G network, offers almost blanket 3G coverage even in rural areas when compared to Cornerstone's network.

MBNL: A mast sharing joint venture between EE and Three.

Cornerstone: A mast sharing joint venture between O2 and Vodafone, but not in as many places.

MBNL>Cornerstone

The MBNL arrangement with EE and Three is only for their 3G networks. They don't share each other's 4G networks.

The Cornerstone arrangement between O2 and Vodafone is a little more complicated. They do share each other's 3G and 4G networks, but only in areas where they've installed new equipment. Plus their signal doesn't travel as far as MBNL's.

I do wholeheartedly apologise if I haven't made much sense here, I usually talk more technical over on the Digital Spy Mobile Phones forums.

For those complaining about Vodafone customer service, I'm genuinely curious who you rate as having good customer service? I've been with all the networks and can't say I've ever had good service with any of them, O2 have been by far the worst with Orange closely behind them - at least with Vodafone they have a higher CS team that have always sorted issues I've had whereas I could never find the same for O2.

Even that aside, Vodafone and O2 are the only choices where I am anyway.

John

I highly rate EE for their customer service nowadays. I didn't before - they used to be terrible.

O2 used to be great but since going back on their 'dedicated UK based customer service centres' promise, they've gone to the dogs.

I don't find Three bad nowadays. They were great the last time I called them.

Vodafone have been consistently bad. A couple of years ago when their call centre was handled by a company called Conduit in Swansea I was dealt with extremely poorly. Even now with their call centres in Egypt they are still as bad. Would never touch them again.

Ok so I'm one of the unlucky bunch being forced to upgrade from Three's ONE plan soon (£14pm!!). Overall, this seems like the next best thing. I just have a 2 questions if anyone can help me out please;

1) How good they are with their retentions offers? (and I am assuming at most it will stay at £20pm after the 12 months and the discount will not be lifted)

2) Do they have an app for using their calls over wifi and abroad?

Thanks in advance
Dauffen86 to azyk
12 Feb 16 #376
forget the retention migration team, go through to them and ask for a manager, they will put you through to customer services complaints. There I managed to stay on my cheap plan, but 2gb tethering cap. They asked me to hush. (unlimited everything else).

I didn't threaten to leave or mention this plan. Just explained as a valued long term customer I bought my plan under the promise they won't price hike my plan. I explained that they are using the term 'phasing out legacy plans' but nevertheless it's effectively a hike. And that I am not a customer who has abused their network nor could I afford the hike....

If you play your cards right you could get a good deal private deal through CS complaints.. Migration & retention absolute waste of time... And that doesn't mean saying someone told you this information, it just means using your brain...

Voda have a great deal, but I'm closing three at home over Netflix. Also the 50% voda discount is likely to be indefinite. Because if the double it after the year they'll get as much bad pr as Threeuk are getting or even worse.

Those with Santander bank accounts might find they've got an offer for Vodafone to give you £40 cash back if you take out a contract of over £17 a month. You have to activate it through the offers bit of the online banking site, closes 18th March but you've to have had two direct debits taken out by then. If you're quick with this, might just make it (you can change your DD date once you sign in to the Vodafone account website thing)

I've used O2 since the Cellnet days and could never rate their CS above appalling, twice they billed me for closed accounts then hassled me for money they actually owed me which went on for months and months - I understand companies make mistakes but to keep making the same mistake over and over again is just poor.

I've never heard of anyone be positive about Three CS and never had any good experiences with them either. EE reception is almost entirely non-existent up here so won't be using them.

At least unlike the others (to my knowledge), Vodafone have a higher CS team that have sorted out any issues on the spot whereas others it's the same nonsense, over and over and over again until finally getting someone who has a clue and sorting it. Certainly their basic CS is completely rubbish but I don't find that any different to any other network (bar EE who I haven't used) and I don't ever hear of anyone having great CS with the other networks either although to be fair other networks do seem to get panned in their own threads as well.

I have beeen with Vodafone on contract for 8 years and never have issues with speed or customer service.

All networks have issues in places as none of them offer 100% coverage. It's finding one that doesn't have issues where you are regularly. "Urgh Vodafone", "Three is rubbish", "EE signal is terrible". You won't find a single network that doesn't have complaints about coverage.

No you either call them and send Proof of ID or pop into store to show your NHS ID and they will submit the form for you (confirming they have verified the ID).

Had to be done in first month of contract. I had an issue where call centre advised it was easiest to go in store, but didn't bother to tell me the time limit in doing so. Eventually got it sorted after some complaining.

The NHS employee can use the discount for friends and family (up to 5 total). So you just need to know someone that works for the NHS.

I've had no problems with network and services, but can confirm CS is poor. Lots of being passed around, hung up on and promised call backs that never arrive :/ However, email to CEO gets you someone who sorts things relatively quickly.

Signed up a month ago, for a Sim for my mothers phone, and a data sim to use in a 4G router, Sim was £30 and extra data sim that uses the same data was about £5.60. Seriously annoyed that 3 weeks later the price has been reduced to £20 a month, so im tied in and paying £120 extra a year.

Called them up and explained this, nothing they could do, even though i told them i will cancel after 12 months, and i would of been willing to stay with them for at least 3 years, and switch over to them myself, but know they just don't really care at all. Will see what they say after 12 months, and if they are willing to refund £120 and reduce the price further il stay, these companies (all of them) really are vultures.

I'd like to know this as well. Just signed up with Life, but if I can get the cashback deal with Spotify for a deal, then I'll give it a go.

Edit: Actually, given how much hassle the mobiles.co.uk cashback looks, will probably just go through Voda and get some back via TCB. I'd rather lose £50 than have to remember to post off 5/6 cashback claims over the year.

That's merely a misconception. I have BT mobile and believe me tethering works fine. BT Mobile simply say they don't support it - so if you call up about a problem with tethering they don;t need to help. I think only apple phones can have tethering blocked at the network level but not sure if BT even do that.Don;t think android or windows phones have settings to allow networks to do that - tethering is generally managed by the device.

On iPhones, they can actually determine if you are tethering even if they don't turn the tethering off. So, are you saying that if you tether they will allow it? I know some network say they don't support tethering, but they don't turn it off. However, if you tether they give you a warning letter and if you do it again they cancel the contract or slow down your data to about 300kb/s.

I would be worried because their t&c are ambiguous in this respect.

unless you're still paying off a subsidised handset with your EE plan you are entitled to reduce your contract to the lowest one they offer and then leave it a few weeks and pay it all off. I looked on a forum a few years ago and found out that if you are unemployed or at least say you are, and unable to afford it anymore, they will be a lot more accommodating ^_^

If you're not fussed that's fine, but sometimes it pays to play dirty. I think if anyone pays more than £20 (simfree) for a reasonable plan then they are being conned. Remember, it's getting cheaper for networks to maintain 4g than 3g, rip off Britain is just capitalizing on ignorance

Quick question i'm hoping someone can help me with.

Any way of seeing monthly usage on 3 network? I get unlimited data and absolutely pile through the it every month, and the data usage on my iPhone has not been reset since I got it (looks like I average 10GB a month), but just wondering if there is a way of seeing exactly what i've used each month?

Currently on £15 a month for unlimted SMS and data, but only 200 minutes. Would seriously consider this deal if I clearly never ever reach 20GB data usage just for the unlimted minutes and better 4G coverage in my area.

"My internet is too fast" – said no one ever! Get up to speed on a Vodafone Red contract and enjoy network benefits like Spotify or Now TV subsciptions.

Might as well order the contract through them. If they wont give you the entertainment bundle you can always cancel within the 14 days cooling off period but with this statement on their website I think you would have a fairly good argument for getting the entertainment package.

As an ex Vodafone employee, just some tips:

You can't add VEA discount as the plan is discounted

When downloading your entertainment package always do it off 3G/4G, not wifi

All Red Value packages include the entertainment package and Eurotraveller calls not texts and minutes.

abusers probably use vpn and tether 3 data without three knowing. Non geeky unwitting abuses.. Whell, threeUk should have put in a fair usage policy. Or at least shifted 'legacy' contract users onto a new fair usage. Instead, they are effectively doing what they promised not to do last year - which is to price hike. But using the terms 'phasing out' and 'legacy' ofcom won't touch them. Nevertheless, in my opinion this is all just greed. They are making more money from new customers, absolutely no need to screw existing ones. Especially with their opposing marketing campaign: when stuff sucks #makeitright ha!

Vodaphone charges 45p a minute (inc. VAT) to other UK mobile networks. Just ask yourself do you know anyone else who has a vodaphone sim. Also £6.50 for every 500MB (inc. VAT) of extra UK data you use.

12 Feb 16 #390
The inclusive minutes are to other mobile networks. The info you have read on the site is just generic spiel, which only really applies to tariffs with a set amount of minutes - the charges per minute are for calls made after you've used up your inclusive allowance. As this tariff has unlimited minutes, there's nothing to worry about.

They've cut off Spotify early from my current contract so I've got calls to make. Also the link you are sent when you sign up makes it look like you add spotify as an extra (click to accept £9.99 per month) so may put some people off.

No, there is no cashback.

To be honest, £20 p/m for 20GB data, unlimited everything else and a year sub which would cost around £120 is a really good deal on it's own. Of course it's always nicer to be cheaper, but it's still a decent deal.

12 Feb 16 #397
I am a new customer, jumping ship from three, yes I haggled the £40 credit as I said there was cashback available from topcashback if I purchased it online...

Although, three have offered me unlimited everything for £20 all in per month to stay with them.

Vodafone are now refusing to apply the extra discount that I was told I could have yesterday when I quoting the mobiles/e2save deals...

Not too sure which to stick with.

This deal seems to be more about Three than Vodafone.
Saying that, when Vodafone themselves put "Great news for Three customers" you can't really expect anything else I guess. And also, "Offer ends 3 March 2016", so that's 3.3.2016 (The '3' network started on 3.3.2003).:laughing::laughing:
lukeburtonavfc
12 Feb 16 #399
£128 with the extra £40 account credit.

Although Vodafone have now refused to honour the £14 per month deal I was offered yesterday stating that the most we can discount the deal is by 50% and its already at that price.

Three have offered me unlimited everything for £20, not sure what to do if I'm honest...

They've offered me ultd everything for £20 per month... 12GB tethering (which I don't use anyway), not sure what to do...

I have been trying to sign up to this online past 30 minutes.. keep getting error on the last stage.. might have pressed place order button 5/6 times.. lets hope I do not get that many SIMs!

I might try over the phone.. online is a shamble.. I am same as you with Three.. I think Vodafone might have better 4G reception at home and work.. hence that is the decider for me.. I currently don't get 4G neither at home nor work with Three! :disappointed:

Worst case.. I don't get cash back with Quidco.. but £20 per month for 20gb plus Netflix for 12 months sounds decent to me! Will try the VEA later on though.. bonus if it works!

PS. Three did offer me the £20 AYCA package but all the faffing around has put me off Three!

My contract expires in September, if I upgrade early, I will need to pay £76- atm I get 500 mins, free texts, 500 mins, should I pay the £76 and resort to vodafone?
doncoop
12 Feb 16 #404
Although no cap on tethering, you still only have 20gb to play with, which isn't much more than the tethering allowance offered by three.

In addition, you have to pay £3 per day to use your inclusive bundle on vodafone. With three, the feel at home countries are given to you free of charge, which is quite a difference.

Also, no dig at you, but 4G varies by area A LOT. It's great you're getting a great signal, but it doesn't mean everyone will where they are.

Too much choice giving me a headache also

made a mess of things as had ordered the three deal for £17 per month and when i went to cancel they offered unltd data and 200 mins for £20 a month. I turned this down as was hoping to get the vodafone deal with cashback but this has all expired now.

with the three deal cashback of £50 had also tracked with quidco so could have effectively cost just under £16 per month

my vodafone sim is coming today but probably will cancel - no VEA and my topcashback has tracked at £0 and very unlikely this will be paid

maybe i dont need so much data and will stick with 6GB....

Mobiles.co.uk sim card came today. Got a text off them saying I could pick a free gift - 1 year Netflix/Spotify/Now TV or a Sky Sports pass. Took Netflix and it worked great, adding £90 onto my Netflix account.

Awesome deal. We pay for Netflix usually anyway so this has saved us £90 a year. As long as I make sure to do my redemption cashback I'm getting 1 year of unlimited calls, texts and 20gb of data for £30 a year/£2.50 a month.

Vodafone is the worst network around - Achieving a high title of the most complained network too!

When they generate customers bills , I heard the billings team blindfold the each other and throw a dart at a board with scores ranging from £50-£200 then post this bill off to a name picked from a hat.

I've been with them for 5 years (Okay the first 3 years then took a turn, signed another contract on the 2 year mark and it was too late!) and can guarantee it won't be £20, they will find some extra charges lying somewhere and add it on.

The worst network and I would steer clear !

Yes it's a bit misleading. The Red Value only includes calls so its not actually Eurotraveller even though they advertise it as such. To get data you need to pay £3 per day.

Three on the other hand give you your contract calls and data for the countries on their list. An unlimited calls/texts 3 contract is pretty expensive though (probably £27-£30 a month sim only - no spotify/netflix). IF you will use spotify/netflix this is a better deal imho. £120 (the difference between this and three) a year gets you 40 days in Europe at £3 a day

Otherwise Voda is he only network round here with decent indoors reception
drizzydrake
12 Feb 16 #419
That is true, the signal has been good and roaming too. But the CS and the charges are just unjustified and I'd rather have a network where I can cap the limit hence the move to giffgaff, a few people over in my work have the £20 giffgaff bundle and it's great. Will be buying the phones outright too.O2 seem to have good network and giffgaff rents their coverage so when 3 takeover O2 the signal coverage will be greater.

This Vodafone deal comes with Eurotraveller plus which means you can use your unlimited min in ALL of the European Union for Free without triggering the £3 charge. You only trigger the £3 charge if you use your Data and Texts. Three offering free roaming is easy cause they cover very little of the continent and some very obscure countries. Three cover 14 nations compared to Vodafones 39 in Europe. Plus Vodafone offer the ability to use your mins txt and data in World Traveller which is the whole world virtually for £5 a day. Regarding reception, that just depends on every individual and where you live. Three allow tethering of 12gb while Voda is nearly double that at 20GB. You can also upgrade after only 3 months. Vodafone deal is a no brainer.

I combined this deal with the LG G4 deal from Vodafone.

I had a great experience in the Vodafone shop (Dereham).

I received two months of unlimited data.

Received an £89.88 credit to my Netflix account.

Was paying $2.39 per month for 100GB Google Drive. Now get 100GB free for two years from LG and can either have 200GB or I can cancel my 100GB plan and save £39.55.

I can sell the leather back of the G4 for very good money.

Often, on voice, I nearly exceeded my 'unlimited' voice minutes with 3. I don't need to worry about that any more.

Enjoyed telling 3 what I thought of its attempting to double my bill.

Very pleased. Thanks to OPs.

I had the dreaded letter on Friday :disappointed: So looking for a new contract sim only.

I am looking at this, how do I apply the NHS disc? My wife is a nurse, do I just take her card with me or does she have to be present?

I cant stand 3's network coverage. I hardly ever have any coverage, I have stayed purely because when I do I can stream 4g but I am willing to give that unlimited 4g up. My wife is on vodaphone and she has better coverage then I do.

They credit your account to the equivalent of the middle package which I believe is 7.49 a month. So you can choose that package and get 12 months, or you could choose the higher or lower price package and get more or less. So they credit your account with just short of £90.

Received my SIM yesterday. Logged-on to My Vodafone to manage my account and continually got an error saying 'we're working hard to fix the issue'. Contacted CS via online chat and she had absolutely no clue! Wasted about 15 minutes trying to activate my SIM (which didn't need doing), then when she said my SIM is already activated, I reiterated what the problem was and she replied with 'our website is working properly'. What a joke. Eventually, she reset my account details and I was able to log-on. NOW, I get 404 errors on some of the 'my account' links, when trying to change my user name, I get a Java exception error and the billing section makes absolutely no mention of the offer and says my next payment due will be £40 and that my package is £40/month. Considering this is my very first few steps with Vodafone, the experience so far is LOUSY.

My cashback tracked still at 17-22 option from topcashback. It would seem topcashback has now had a change of mind in the last 48 hours. Or is this a system glitch from topcashbaack ?

Please can someone share their past experience on this if any, i emailed topcashback support team when i only got £1 track for the £20 vodafone deal and i was specifically told this

Has anyone have had cashback tracked by topcashback and did not get paid out? i ask because i would rather cancel this purchase now and go ahead and make another cashback purchase try from either carephone warehouse via quidco who will payput £63 or giftcloud.com. for £60

Considering vodaphone direct cashback from quidco is no longer avilable. there is now £60 and £63 directly for grab via quidco on carephone warehouse in my link below

I've had a similar bad experience so far. I also got my first bill at £40, had to call and correct it - which took about half an hour. Also they sent the SIM via DPD, which required a signature. I'm out all day and they charge £5 for weekend delivery! So I picked one up at a Vodafone shop - they were supposed to activate it but it didn't seem to work so I had to call again to get that sorted. I'm porting my number over today - god knows what'll happen. Not a very good first impression I must say! I think they've been overwhelmed with people signing up and can't cope.

I called Three yesterday and the best they would do is unlimited data, unlimited texts and 200 mins for £20.

If they had thrown in unlimited minutes too I would have stayed but I asked for the PAC code.

Am I likely to get a call in the next day or two to improve their offer and tempt me to stay, or is that likely to be it.

I'll probably go for this Vodafone deal but might as well wait until 3/3 as Three will be charging me for my 30 days notice period anyway

.

I wouldn't take that deal because i haggle a lot and that is not good enough. for me atleast.

The first thing you need to do is first find out how much data and minutes u use every months for 3 to 5 months average. The 2nd then becomes are you happy to pay that and also do u have better or equal reception of vodafone to 3 network in your locations?

Personally speaking, Vodafone wins in this case for me. but every body use case and need different. If you travel alot and outside Europe in the countries 3 network have free roaming and then you have to put all of those into consideration as well. those don't apply to me so it was no brainier for me to switch.

You look at these factor and make the best situation for your usecase and needs. I hope this is helpful.

Ordered yesterday through Quidco (nothing yet shown as tracked) & got a DPD delivery this morning! opening a "My Vodaphone " account was simple and got an app for the phone all working fine. Got a Pac code from Tesco, whom I'm sad to leave after so many years of brilliant service but with lots of work in Europe this year this will be great to have all the data.
A few things I noticed, I did a quick speedtest when I got the sim,
Tesco 4g gave me this, it actually seems slow compared to previous tests.
http://i63.tinypic.com/ei14qa.jpg
Vodaphone gave me
http://i63.tinypic.com/29ptcmh.jpg
So my first test shows it's not as fast as O2 for indoors not that it matters much as I'll be on wifi, but be interesting to see if there is any noticeable difference to the Tesco/O2 coverage when out & about, I've had incredible speeds and great reliability with Tesco for years for only £10 a month so it's a big step to leave such a good service.
Not sure what the Grade difference is shown by Speedtest.net.
The other interesting thing to see is the app shows unlimited UK data  not that it means unlimited anymore

However my accounts shows 20gb. so thanks Op for posting.

You are right about them offering to do better. I guess it depends on who you speak with in the retension department. They seem unpredictable and choosy in who or how they offer better deals. i was with them for 6 years and the action i got was like they didn't care. I didn't care too much about staying either because i never got very liable network in my location . so will be good to try another network like vodafone who seem to have better coverage in my location. I was offered a better deal by vodafone with additional £60 credit to not pay 3 months upfront on this deal.

I'm curious how it works. I'm not one of the high users that has caused all this (ca 6-8 GB and 250 mins per month) but I wanted to stay on AYCE data and unlimited minutes just so I don't have to worry about things. I knew others had been offered that for £20 a month and if they had offered me the same I would have stayed (and would happily have signed up for another 12 months). Clearly 4 - 5 years of loyalty and fair usage counts for nothing. I'm now at the point where I'm glad to be going - I feel very badly treated.
I want to delay signing up to the Vodafone deal until as late as possible as I've still got my 30 days notice with Three - does anyone know if CPW have a time limit on their Quidco offer or does that last til 3/3/ too?

As I understand it Vodafone pay money into your account to fund the subscription of your choice. Before I buy can someone confirm this, as I'm thinking of just choosing the most expensive subscription as Netflix is 7.50 per month but Spotify/Now Tv is 9.99. So theoretically although I want the Netflix subscription should I just sign up for the Spotify and pocket the difference?
nuttyphilt to robm612
18 Feb 16 #617
No, it doesn't work like this.

When I just activated my Spotify subscription you have to link your Spotify account to your Vodafone number, then they do some kind of authorisation to your Spotify account. No money changes hands.
robm612
18 Feb 16 #619
Ah, thanks very much. If it is linked to your phone does that mean you can only access it through your device? Probably not too much of a hassle for Spotify but if I go with Netflix I tend to watch it on my xbox. Sorry for all the questions but any idea?

Well I've just had a text from Three saying they don't want to lose me and asking for a convenient time to call and discuss some "exclusive offers" so I'll see what they come up with.
Much as I am really annoyed at what they have done, and a large part of me wants to leave anyway just to teach them a lesson, I know the £15 a month for the All-In-One Plan was a great price and if they can do the same for £20 (as they have already offered to others) I will probably stay with them and avoid the hassle of changing. Better the devil you know - especially as I have no great use for Spotify or Netflix.
In case anyone from Vodafone is reading this, if you were to do a 20GB / month standard package without any entertainment option for £15 per month.....

Just called Vodafone and told them carphone are offering me 60 quid cash back. Call took 10 minutes to sort out, first the returns agent said he can't do it and spoke to his manager, his manager said no because the quidco carphone warehouse cashback doesnt show on the site. I asked if i can send him a link to see it on the quidco.com site nad he said he can't access links, so I said well its there and eithr way i'll get it and i'll be on the same network.

So, he put me through to a senior agent or somat and she added 60 quid on to my account

I spoke with three today from the £15 one plan I was offered
£12pm for unlimited calls and 4gb data on a 12 month
£16pm for unlimited calls and 8gb data on a 1 month rolling contract
I took the £16 tariff knowing that I don't use as much data as I used to having wifi at home and work.
My wife was on the £20 one plan and moved her to the £16pm too.
Saved a bit overall and with the flexibility of a one month rolling.

One thing am unsure of with this voda contract is after the 12 months is over does it go back to £40pm or stay at £20.
skula to shortguy4u
18 Feb 16 #638
It will go back as this a half price discount for 12 months. The contract is a 12 months one anyway. I Would however be cautious to follow up a month before end of 12 months contract. This things are always open to negotiation. the haggling will begin again in another 12 months.

I don't know how they choose who they call or not. clearly 6 years of loyalty means nothing to them. When a company who has been seen as the underdog network provider to the other big and they go and Buy O2, this is what happens in the end. they want to compensate for the £10.8 Billion they spent by increasing customer tariff. Ofcourse i have no evidence but less competition points this.

Regarding your 30 days notice. It was my understanding it is from the moment once received their infamous letter of tariff change and increase. i would be watchful here. vodafone offer may not last long if u are relying on the cashback. but do make your decision before 3rd of march

Well, I've got my sim, swapped my number and am back with Voda after being an O2 customer for years, and then TPO for a little while (although they've just massively mugged me off on data charges so F them!).

I went for the Netflix option as I use Apple Music anyway, it is worth noting that if you use the Netflix on Wifi (so I was told - don't know how it works) that you *may* get charged and they are only offering it as 'free to watch for 12 months' using their 4G!

This is a great deal - 20GB data, unlimited everything else! £20, wow.

19 Feb 16 #643
Thanks, thats what i thought. Sticking with three would take that hassle of haggling away. That and the realisation that i dont actually use that much data any more.

The three advisor was keen to say that i dont use more than 4gb anymore (including tethering) as am using wifi almost everywhere, so am better off with the £12 plan and paying £5 for 4gb of data for the odd month that i use all my allowance. What a scary thought when I used to use 10gb+ a month easily!

I got my sim thursday and ported over on the Friday however my mobile data is not working, gave it all day, end of the day spoke to a Voda help rep, could barely understand him (I miss Tesco customer services) he went through all the settings , restart phone, take out sim , polish it, give a kiss for good luck , check settings again, nope nothing ok he says I'll restart your data then phone you back, within 5 mins I get a text "your data is now blocked" great! an hour later the guys still hasn't phoned back :disappointed: this time I chat to an online rep (takes forever), I go through the same procedures,(painful as I work in IT and have tried everything already) he finally says he has have fixed it, great what did you fix, he replies "your data is now blocked" !!! what the $£%&^@ I don't want it blocked.. so I go to the MY Vodaphone settings, sure enough there is a data block, I slide it to off, it kindly tells me "we will let you know when it's done", I go to bed..
Today same problem...still no data & data block switch is still on, the online forum I post questions to is useless. A rep tells me I might have to wait till Tuesday for it to work as it's now the weekend! Lots of others with same problem

On top of that I go get a Vodaphone signal but it's only 3g, in fact been out all morning and everywhere was 3g, I'm hoping thats a glitch as I got a full 4g most places round here with O2 (west london). So far I love the deal but I'm not impressed with the service..

Jamie.

It has been posted several times in the thread that TCB would not payout on Vodafone's deal. You might get lucky and it'll go through, but I would ring Vodafone and tell them you have just see that TCB are doing £60 cashback on the same deal through CPW, and you're thinking of leaving for it. Hopefully, they credit you 3 months. If they don't, then you can cancel and go through CPW

Obviously TCB/Quidco is never guaranteed, so the outcome you most want is Vodafone crediting your account.

In regards of the account, they credit your account with just short of £90 which is the amount for 12 months on the middle package. FFS! I wrote a massive response via the HUKD apps and it only posted 'haha'. Great.

To summarise;

1) Yes, I took this deal with the Netflix add-on. I don't have use for any of the others.
2) You MUST sign up for the Netflix (or whatever you choose) via your phone, on 3G/4G otherwise it doesn't make the offer of the 'paid for' access.
3) The Vodafone CS rep told me it was 'best to use the Netflix via the 4G because if I used wifi I may be charged extra'. I guess this is just to keep them on the safe-side?!
4) The Netflix deal is the HD + 2 screens, I've been using it on my iPhone 6S (Vodafone), iPad Mini 3 (O2) and on my HTPC. All logged onto the same account, with no issues at all.
5) As a Brucey Bonus I appear to be getting double cash back - one lot from Vodafone directly via TCB (even though I cancelled as soon as I placed the order as I realised going via CPW would garner more cash back) and the second via CPW.
6) People complaining about poor signal on Vodafone in your area - you can always check before-hand as to how the signal is. It's not a deal if you can't use it!!! Plus you have 14 days to cancel. Use it!

I bought this deal and an LG G4 in a Vodafone shop (Dereham) for half the CPW price and the staff were lovely. Everything went smoothly, they did the PAC, set-up the online account, gave me the SIM, told me about the BT wifi hotspots and that I'd have completely unlimited Internet for two months and that I can use as many minutes or texts as I want rather than the 2000 minutes on the One Plan which I did sometimes reach. When I got home, Vodafone credited my Netflix account with just short of £80, the number changeover was painless and when I rang Vodafone about the CPW cashback my account was credited with £60. Reception is better indoors than I ever had with 3.

I managed to get £76 credit on my account so works out about £13.66. I was paying £12.90 with 3 for everything unlimited until they started asking for £30. So I'm satisfied.

Signal is perfect, see attachment of 4g speeds. However at times customer support is silly and takes time to get through. However I've only ever had to call to get my voicemail switched off and that was it.

If I have any issues I'll definitely be demanding compensation every single time

Update to previous post, I finally got the mobile data sorted, the customer service isn't great, but they did ring and fix it finally. Once fixed my worry of only getting 3G was relieved as it jumped to 4g ! So it wasn't connecting properly for some reason. Putting my old Tesco sim in the phone then replacing it with the Vodaphone sim was the thing that sorted it, well after they finally removed the stuck data block the CS put on. Looking forward to unlimited data over the next 2 months

i was going to go for this deal but wanted to hold off to see deals on new S7.
Currently with EE but coverage is not great at home and work and find my battery draining quickly as it searches for signal, also one of the worst for data costs when abroad.
Anyway, looked at the S7 deals on Vodafone as i qualify for a 20% discount through their Employee advantage Scheme,
Finally decided to go for the top S7 package, 25 gig data, unlimited minutes and texts. Also get to make free calls from Europe. Can tether as well. Also get free Virtual Reality headset, and either 24 months of Now TV, Sky Sports or Spotify, or 12 months netflix. This package is normally £55 but should get it for £44 a month. I also went through quidco and it has tracked at £90 cashback, hopefully this will go all the way through.
Vodafone dont give a list of participating employers but i managed to find this list on money saving expert website.

I'm in the same boat. I guess if it all goes right then it is probably okay. They seem alright in my local VF store. But I could do without being put into some sort of customer service hell. Asked for a PAC from Three the other day who put me on a month to month contract of £15 for 8GB which I accepted whilst I considered my options...

On paper this is a really good deal.

23 Feb 16 #743
Hmm, very tempted. Even with my discounted Netflix (going to regular price in May though) this is a real good deal.
I understand there is a 14 day period where you can cancel if unsatisfied?
Does that include getting a PAC code to keep number if already ported in?
What happens if you have taken Netflix deal and ask to leave within 14 days?
Come to think of it, its cheap enough if its really bad to pay off contract early and leave if really necessary.

I've taken out a payg sim with them via TCB to test out data in various locations first. Get £6 cashback on £10 credit.
Bought one of their bundles which for the first top-up gives 50Gb to test with :-)

First tests at home side by side with 3 not encouraging. 7mbps Voda on 4g 30mbps on 3uk :-(
Central London will be the real test though as 3 pretty ropey for me up there.

I decided to just stick with Life. The only thing I really wanted from Vodafone was the extra data, as have the 6 month free Deezer sub just starting and all calls/txts I need, but Life's UK call centres and rolling month contract are enough for me to not bother switching. Probably upgrade to £15 for 6GB data, and that's good enough for me. EE network seems good, and 4G coming soon.

....well, that and Vodafone 'losing' a £5 top up I did on a PAYG sim. Bought a 500mb data bolt on, and no data 24hrs later. I gave up with support and took it as a fiver lost, but a year of possible headaches removed :man:

Yes - you can watch Netflix on any device as Vodafone credits just under £90 to your account for the '2 Screens + HD' pack.

Tempted by this deal but got a couple of questions, apologies if they’ve been asked already but I’m not reading 38 pages 

1) I’ve got three months left on my current 18 month contract with Vodafone. Am I able to switch over to this deal now and pay whatever difference I owe them up to the end of the contract?
2) If the answer above is no. I assume there is nothing to stop me having two Vodafone SIM’s running on the one account and I just PAC over my mobile number when the 18 month contract ends?
robm612 to redarrowrules
24 Feb 16 1 #768
I had this issue a couple of years ago with Three when I saw a decent offer. You could phone customer service and see about option 1, but I ended up doing option 2 - however you will require the additional hassle of porting your number to a network other than Vodafone then port it back to the new contract, as I don't think you can port a number internally i.e to the same network (may have changed but when I did this 2 years ago it couldn't be done - had to buy a cheap Tesco mobile sim card and port it to that then back to the new sim)
robm612
24 Feb 16 #754
I searched for EE on the same site and their score is similarly poor. I have friends on EE who would recommend the network, so I assume it's the classic "only the unhappy people write reviews" and I just went for this Vodafone deal.

newfoundglory stated the price of netflix, and then said that the cost would be £5.51 per month. So I'm wondering are you able to get credit for not having the netflix service on the account?
mankymanning
24 Feb 16 #762
Actually I don't think it will work for me on the cashback, my order number starts FBL- and not WEB-
screamingninja
24 Feb 16 #763
That's not nfg meant, He (assuming it's a he!) factored in the cost of netflix to reach £5.51 as a value of just the sim minutes/texts/data. He's not paying £5.51 and that £89.98 'credit' is applied to his netflix account so that he gets 12 months of netflix, not his vodafone bill. He'll be paying £13/month to vodafone.

This kind of determination of value only really makes sense if you are already or plan to be a netflix subscriber.

Well I've rang Vodafone twice now and quoted topcashback and they've said its a 3rd party site not affiliated and wouldn't offer me any of the discount like others have received, wondering if its best to go quidco cpw or topcashback Vodafone, anyone got any suggestions?? I was ringing Vodafone on their free joining number
sohighicantouchthesky to jameyballs

That won't work. Vodafone couldn't give a toss if you go via TCB, or via them. Just sign up o TCB or Quidco and guarantee yourself the extra money back, no?
jameyballs
24 Feb 16 #766
On the 4th time of trying they did actually listen and like others i managed to grab £40 off (2 free months) i know its not the £60 or £80 but its far less hassle and just credits my account with £40 so no worry of not getting any of the money, im sure if id pushed i could have probably got the £60 tbh

I also have a feeling they do care as the cashback does come from there so they'd rather give you abit less directly which saves the hassle of it not tracking
robm612
24 Feb 16 #767
Went for it, I phoned up 3 and - seeing as I pay for Netflix anyway - I said he would need to get as close as possible to £12.50 a month, which they couldn't do (although they did offer unlimited everything for £20 per month if that helps anyone moving from 3) and as I only get H+ in my area I decided to move.
Signed up through Topcashback which is showing with a purchase price of £1 and £0 cashback, but hopefully that goes through, and my existing Netflix account will be credited at my next billing date. And to top it all off I get much better data coverage with Vodafone (rural area North of Glasgow) so overall this has been a great deal for me.
Thanks op.

I think Three are offering that £20 deal to everyone calling for a PAC code. Their network sucks in Swindon. Fault on it since 8th Feb, so easy for me to ditch them after 13 years. Their churn rate must be going sky high.
