I've been after the LG G4 PAYG and it appears to be out of stock in all Vodafone stores. Today, I did a check for contract phones, progressed the order and checked for available phones in my area.
I then visited the store, mentioned that as I understand it, PAYG is out of stock however, it's possible to convert a contract phone to PAYG having spoken to Vodafone chat and in their call centre - and that I could purchase.
I was promptly told 'yep, that's possible' and he phone was promptly changed to PAYG, and an additional £10 top up was required (unless you have a Vodafone Sim, which I didn't).
This is possibility the last option of getting your hands on one of these handsets.
Ways to check:
1 - Follow the link
2 - Choose your pay monthly phone (LG G4)
3 - Chose your bundle (any - doesn't matter as you're just aiming to find out stock availability)
4 - go to basket
5 - Under 'Free delivery or collection in the UK' click on 'Check Availability in your Store' there you can enter post codes and postal towns. You'll be able to find out if there is stock in your area or areas further afield.
I found ample stock in the Cambridgeshire area - Ely, Huntingdon, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.
There was stock in Hampshire, Cardiff, Stratford etc.
Where the store check indicates 'stock in x days' this means they will have stock then so gives you a heads up to check on that day.
Be sure to check for both the silver and red models as these show up differently and it's a good idea to check early in the morning - however the stocking system is updated within minutes - the store where I purchased mine said it had no stock when I checked 25 minutes after purchasing so the above method is a fairly good way to check.
I am aware this has been posted previously for PAYG however the above is a different way to get your hands on the handset that is oficially out of stock for PAYG.
I hope this is of some use to those who have missed out.
Lots of sellers on ebay will unlock your G4 within minutes - I paid £2.99 and the unlock was with me in 25 minutes.
Remember when you go in to the store to ask nicely but with confidence. This helped me and the staff were more than accommodating and helpful.

Perhaps, but many on here are still after one and I thought having purchased one today, it would be useful to share how I went about it. Average to you, not to others.

Confirmed as working [well actually it worked] on Monday, well worth *any* effort to get
one at £225, especially as it is a nowhere near "average" handset.. unless you of course
have paid £500-900 for a "very under average" Crapple iBone

This is simply the best mobile I have ever owned - yes I have had iPhones and several Galaxy S devices. The camera in manual mode is incredible, speed and stability of the OS is excellent. Battery could be a little better, but at least I have the option to swap it out without bothering with an external power pack and the risk of damaging the data port. Average no - exceptional at this price.

3 months ago, the LG G3 was getting 1800 degree heat for being in Argos at £199.99. It got 550 degrees a month ago selling at 190 quid.
This is the G4 guys. Wake up and smell the Gold Blend. :smirk:

Bit much to go through for a fairly average device

Its a lot more than an average device, show me another phone at this price with these specs and an SD card slot and removable battery, not forgetting the QHD screen. With Marshmallow it absolutely flies, admittedly I had to unlock & root mine to get the official LG version as I dont believe Vodafone had rolled it out yet.

All the stores I check it says "Available for free collection in 2 - 4 working days"... would that mean I'd get it in store if I turn up?

The stock levels change a lot. I would check in the morning. I saw no stock in Cambridgeshire on Sunday or yesterday then it suddenly showed up. I would also hazard a guess that they will be getting stock in that timeframe - as Vodafone clearly have stock in their warehouse in order to fulfil orders.

Speak to customer support and ask them to give you the store numbers for your local branches. Then you can call and check stock directly. That's what I did and got lucky when it actually said no stock online.

I will keep an eye out. Really want this phone for the "average" camera and "average" specs!
Just out of interest what's the serial number of the phone you got? It's not one of the 505-509 models which had the bootloop issues is it?

I believe it is a 507 model having checked. I can take it back I guess, within two weeks to any vodafone store if I encounter priblems - thereafter it's straight to LG from what I have read on forums.
The camera is astounding compared to my trusty G2 - especially night shots.
I've just upgraded to Marshmallow via LG Bridge for windows and I've noticed no issues so far.

hi. genuinely confused with the 'average' comment. I want the best android camera, and this seems better than my oneplusone.
