I've been after the LG G4 PAYG and it appears to be out of stock in all Vodafone stores. Today, I did a check for contract phones, progressed the order and checked for available phones in my area.
I then visited the store, mentioned that as I understand it, PAYG is out of stock however, it's possible to convert a contract phone to PAYG having spoken to Vodafone chat and in their call centre - and that I could purchase.
I was promptly told 'yep, that's possible' and he phone was promptly changed to PAYG, and an additional £10 top up was required (unless you have a Vodafone Sim, which I didn't).
This is possibility the last option of getting your hands on one of these handsets.
Ways to check:
1 - Follow the link
2 - Choose your pay monthly phone (LG G4)
3 - Chose your bundle (any - doesn't matter as you're just aiming to find out stock availability)
4 - go to basket
5 - Under 'Free delivery or collection in the UK' click on 'Check Availability in your Store' there you can enter post codes and postal towns. You'll be able to find out if there is stock in your area or areas further afield.
I found ample stock in the Cambridgeshire area - Ely, Huntingdon, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.
There was stock in Hampshire, Cardiff, Stratford etc.
Where the store check indicates 'stock in x days' this means they will have stock then so gives you a heads up to check on that day.
Be sure to check for both the silver and red models as these show up differently and it's a good idea to check early in the morning - however the stocking system is updated within minutes - the store where I purchased mine said it had no stock when I checked 25 minutes after purchasing so the above method is a fairly good way to check.
I am aware this has been posted previously for PAYG however the above is a different way to get your hands on the handset that is oficially out of stock for PAYG.
I hope this is of some use to those who have missed out.
Lots of sellers on ebay will unlock your G4 within minutes - I paid £2.99 and the unlock was with me in 25 minutes.
Remember when you go in to the store to ask nicely but with confidence. This helped me and the staff were more than accommodating and helpful.

Confirmed as working [well actually it worked] on Monday, well worth *any* effort to get
one at £225, especially as it is a nowhere near "average" handset.. unless you of course
have paid £500-900 for a "very under average" Crapple iBone

This is simply the best mobile I have ever owned - yes I have had iPhones and several Galaxy S devices. The camera in manual mode is incredible, speed and stability of the OS is excellent. Battery could be a little better, but at least I have the option to swap it out without bothering with an external power pack and the risk of damaging the data port. Average no - exceptional at this price.

Purchased the phone via a Vodafone employee so he got me 20% off :-) .
It was a 512 series I got unlocked from http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160637322093
Their instructions was a bit odd as they said to "insert same network Sim card". Anyway it worked a treat and I can use the phone on Three.
I ordered a Snugg case but they sent me one for a G4 Note, very odd as I don't believe this phone ever got released... anyway it was too large, they acknowledged the problem and refunded me.
Got a Tuchh case instead, not as nice but it fits.
Phone £180 + £10 topup + £2.99 unlock + £13.99 case = £206.98

I've just posted a deal on Amazon for the black leather back cover - no idea if there is additional delivery to NI though mate. The leather is a really nice feature though (IMO)
They couldn't do it when the phone was boxed and unused but after activating with a Vodafone sim, they tried again.... Job done.

It doesn't actually come with a charger, it's just a little unit you plug the battery into. It has a micro USB socket so you provide your own charger to power it.
I read a review which states that it actually charges the battery slower than the phone does, by design - it's better for the battery.
Skymonkey
20 Feb 16#263
I didn't know the charger with the phone wasn't quick charge 2. I may have a look at this - useful to have for sure. Apparently the LG G5 will have a battery that slots into the phone, so no back that comes off. It will slot in from the bottom and up into the phone. Quite ingenious.
If it does quick charge 2.0 then that could be useful as the charger with phone doesn't.

I am with Three. I got the phone from Bluewater store (staff very helpful). Went home and got the phone unlocked via ebay. With the Three sim I could not receive or make calls. Data and everything else worked fine. Took the phone into Vodafone and Three to try and sort it but couldn't.
Thankfully my Three contract is the old One Plan which I have been informed I will have to close at some point. With the new Vodafone £20 sim only deal I was able to switch. I was fortunate to not be on a long contract with Three otherwise I could be stuck with a phone only for Vodafone.
My advice is that if you want to stay with your current provider, I would pay the extra and wait for Vodafone to unlock. If it doesn't work the warranty should still be intact (please correct me if I'm wrong). The ebay unlock route seems hit and miss. I've unlocked via ebay in the past no problems but this time not so lucky.

Try going to Vodafone in store and mention to them. Also I think you can return the handset within two weeks, if it's faulty, that may be for online purchases only, can't remember 100%.They could offer the option of unlocking if for you or identify that it's faulty in which case, as it sounds they should offer a refund or replacement as it's within two weeks. This applies if bought in store - was explained to me when I purchased. Let us know how you get on.

512 relates to part of the serial number of the unit. The first one I purchased has a 512 serial number (faulty phone) and the second one has a 511 serial number . Both were builds 1.1 (which detailed earlier in the thread suggests it has the fix for boot issues).

I've tried 4 bay unlock services and none had the 512 codes. So if you're in a hurry or don't want to risk holding out for X days/weeks then the web firm appears the only valid choice.
Just noted one of the bayers is posting that phones starting 35987 (s/n 512 no doubt) are not in their database.

what does your network mode settings look like, does it say 2g/3g/4g auto and then 2g/3g, 3g only and 2g only or does it say LTE/GSM auto and GSM only etc. mine will not connect to 3g on vodaphone or unlocked for three. My other 2 G4s said LTE/GSM.

Not had to unlock a phone in a while so can somebody confirm that unlocking the phone doesn't limit you using some of the features and that it makes it the same as a standard sim-free version? Does it still give the Vodafone symbol on power-up and will it effect you getting updates in the future or will you just get them from the new provider? Has anybody unlocked this and used 4g on O2 with it? What provider/eBay seller do you recommend I get the unlock code from and will getting the update before unlocking effect anything? Does unlocking effect the LG warranty? Sorry for all the questions I am a Noob and really want to get this phone but thought it was better to ask first.

8 Feb 16#207
Doesn't affect functionality. Updates are either from apps themselves or if OS then it'd be up to LG to go to next android version. Unlocking doesn't affect warranty and means you can use any provider no problem. However, if you have one starting with the serial number S/N512 you may have trouble getting it unlocked off've 'bay. Only one person on here IIRC has managed to find a 'bay listing that worked. Another couple of people have used a more expensive web service (£10.99 I think) which worked. The 512's are apparently new numbers and 'bay providers haven't got the updated unlock codes as of yet.

taken me 4 days but finally got one.
my local store are complete idiots, (barnsley)
according to them it wasnt possible full stop and id have to wait for payg stock, then told her that aint guna happen explained the entire thing twice with screenshots (thick as)
decided to leave before losing my temper as she wouldnt even check pay monthly stockb
went meadowhall for them to say yes if course bla bla and then they couldn't find the phone and launched investigation (ooopsie). they were fab and so apologetic and said barnsley have one left in grey, explained prev situ and said ask to see manager she shouldn't have told you what she did bla bla and its managers discretion. my store was closed at this point so turned up at 9am following morning and surprise im told again its impossible Vodafone cant do this that and other, and meadowhall were wrong to tell me i could have it (steaming by this point) told her to very politely to go f**k herself she had no idea what she was doing told her theres one at a store 20 miles away ill go there for her to snort theres no point same answer we cant do it.
obviously she was a lying little rat (which i already knew) walked out of that shop with it 5 mins later, if i thought i could hold my temper id take it to barnsley store and shove it in her nose to prove a point but hey ho ive finally got it. believe it or not until recently i worked for Vodafone customer service and i honestly wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
both Wakefield and meadowhall stores were disgusted both have advised to complain formally but i know there really is no point they will never follow it up. every single call to vodafone is recorded but stores are run by monkeys, they are such a bad company tosign a contract with peeps please be careful. with my job i got 50% discount and priority on devices and i still wouldnt have one if that puts it in a vetter context.

Glad you got one. There are some complete idiots out there - with no idea what they are doing. I have to say, the store I visited in Newmarket had oustanding customer service, in fact I would go as far to say the best service I have ever received in a phone shop, or many others for that matter.
Your problems sound like a training issue, and Voda should have a word with the manager in that store. Such a shame when you meet with awful service like you have but rewarding when you get what you're after in the end - a product that is available and you are willing to buy but the seller really cannot fathom that they are there to sell. Not to put barriers in the way!
Enoyo!

Not had time to update over the last few days but have carried out a quick random check on contract stock in store availability today at 13:50 - indicating this stock can be converted to Pay As You Go.
This was carried out for the red backed phone - there will also be ample silver backed stock. Please check your area.

Got a red leather G4 in Perth last week, serial 512, waiting for an eBay unlock. No sim in at the moment, connected wifi for the first time and software os update has popped up, I guess this is Marshmallow V20d-JAN-15-2016 ( 908.31MB) ?

Its a lot more than an average device, show me another phone at this price with these specs and an SD card slot and removable battery, not forgetting the QHD screen. Folks, if you can't get an unlock code from that well known auction site, just be patient and try a few days later. I had the same issue so i waited until code was available. Your IMEI is too new to be on their database. Give it a few days and once they update the database you'll get your code. There is no need to spend more than £3 for a code unless you are desperate
jstallan
5 Feb 16#163
Sent a request to that website to get unlock code which arrived 20 mins later. In the meantime the phone went through various software updates right through to Marshmallow. All seemed fine.
Put my 3 sim into the phone but it wouldn't come up with a prompt to enter the unlock code. From the phone dialer I entered 2945#*815# (my model number was H815) and this gave a menu to enter the network unlock code. Phone reboots. Seems to make calls and text fine.

I got a 512 serial numbered G4, and 2 ebay unlockers couldn't find my IMEI number.
Had a nice arguement with Vodafone customer services to get them to send an email so I can log into my vodafone online account, and as usual got no where fast, so I took the phone straight back to the Vodafone shop as I refuse to give anymore money to a company that has such bad customer services.
I got the phone for my wife, as she is actually on Vodafone pay monthly, but she can stick with her windows phone until her contract runs out in September when I will be free from the uselessness of Vodafone customer services.
I put my wife's Vodafone pay monthly sim into the LG G4 and tried to blag a free pay monthly unlock code from Vodafone's website, but got this in an email from them:
"Thank you for getting in touch about unlocking your phone. We checked the details you gave us, but could not find a match for the IMEI number (your phone's serial number) on your account.
We can only unlock a phone that we know belongs to you. This means you need to have used a Vodafone SIM in it. You need to give us details of this SIM when you fill in our NUC form."
I had put the sim in the G4, and got it working on the network. Worth a try, but no luck for me :disappointed:

it should say as part of a code xxxxxxxxx(1.1)xx on the back of the box above the barcode.
I think my unlock has failed as I can't make calls with my 3 sim in the g4 even though the seller tells me its now unlocked. looks like I'll have to swap to vodaphone from 3.

Also, does anyone know anything about this 50gb free data for signing up to the Big Value Bundle?
I got an SMS today after switching on the phone/sim for the first time saying they were giving me 50gb free for 30days and it will be added to my allowance - but my allowance is still 500mb and the only T&C I can see state the offer expired in December.

Lastly did you lose any data when you did the KDZ flash because I dont want to start installing my apps afresh.
Thanks in advance.

Credit to you! I've bought today at Harrow store! First time I've checked stock the went to the store, and ask if they have pay monthly LG G4, yes we''ve. Would be possible to convert to pay as you go yes! I have paid 225+10 top up. Thanks for posting this deal, be the I've been looking for long time and going nearly everyday to Vodafone store.

unlocked mine £2.49 simples - the process wording was morning confusing than actually doing it
You need to choose the firmware and download that to your PC. It's the relevant .kdz file (about 1.6gb) , which you don't need to root the phone to use. I've been using the v20d version for a week without issue. First, I tried "upgrading" to MM from LP but it didn't get rid of the splash screen, and then later on I "refurbished", but that didn't work either. From memory, when I upgraded, I was able to delete most, if not all the Vodafone stuff. Once I refurbished, all had gone - it's just the splash screen left upon start up and shutdown - hardly the end of the world.
One things that threw me before I did all this was you need to connect your phone to the PC and then put the phone into MTP mode and ensure the proper drivers are installed onto your PC before you do the above.
I'm obviously no genius about these things but it's relatively simple
As ever - all at your own risk, of course.
edit: MM firmware is here
Had to look for the .kdz file but it's in this post:
Click on CODEFIRE DIRECTORY link and download the .kdz file. That's the one I used.
Yet again, all at your own risk. Do your own research etc.

Brighton do NOT have one at the moment just incase anyone goes there - they had 1 left in store but had already been assigned to getting sent back to warehouse (someone bought online) - I got the last one in Hove.
My network unlock seemed to work fine - got a success message, however I now need to go back into town to get a micro-sim from EE as I've only got a nano-sim

Yep they've literally just done this for me - didn't even have to ask. They are advertising it as £225 PAYG in-store so just ask for that. You will probably have to buy their £10 sim alongside it but that's no biggy.

I'm sure Vodafone can unlock it. Just have to wait a while for the codes to get to unlockers, same thing happened with the 511 Nov phones.
AFAIK the UK is nearly unique in not requiring unlocks though it would take a brave carrier to refuse.

Go onto a well known auction site and search 'LG G4 unlock code' and you will find a whole host of sellers offering the service. You will need to provide you IMEI number which you can find where the battery sits, the current provider.
It will cost approx £2.50 - £2.99 and the code will be pinged back to you within an hour. You then need to insert your sim card - EE and access the sim unlock screen (you will receive instruction from the seller) and enter the code. That's it - the phone will unlock!
As for the Voda branding I am not so sure about.
I updated to Marshamllow via LG bridge software in the hope it would remove the branding (it did with my LG G2) but alas, it didn't work.
Let me know how you get on!

Some people expect far too much. This isn't as compelling as the epic G2 deal was 18 months ago but none the less its still by far and away the best value flagship Android phone deal out there. Great screen, great camera, microSD, changeable batteries (that can be picked up for £5 on the bay). People need to decide on which aspects of a phone matter the most and which areas they're prepared to compromise on before they make a purchase. There has never been a perfect smartphone at any price and the G4 isnt about to change that.

I note the Ulefone Power (3GB Ram,4G, Dual Sim & MicroSD, 6000mAh battery, 5.5" 1080p, fingerprint scanner, vanilla android) uses the Sony 13MP with a f1.8 lens. Perhaps not quite as good as the LG G4 camera, but the same f stop, so pretty good. Megapixles not really the most vital of specs.
And the battery is double the capacity of most phones. And it's £129 delivered new from GearBest. Took 8 days from pre-order to arriving at my house and having been sensible with the value I asked them to declare, it arrived with no VAT or import duties.
I just managed this week to get one online using the other thread announcment but this latest batch isn't being recognised by the ebay unlockers. Tried 3 of them so far and they said the IMEI isn't in the database whatever that means.

Hi,
Just a little confused, so you don't actually purchase the contract online correct? You just add to basket to confirm stock availability?
008 to zain2k11
3 Feb 161#37
>>>>>
Correct, the phone is held at the store of your choosing on the order, if you can find a store that states "available by 5pm today" [or whatever time your stores close] that means it is *physically* there for collection from held stock at
VF, if the cart states "available / delivered in 2-3 days" it is not in the store and is shipped from Berkshire holdings
or from a Kondor hub ;-)
Note:
Natural Android MarshMallow 6 is now being sent via *some* OTA handsets in the UK.. if yours is not finding
it, turn if off, take the sim and battery out for at least 5 minutes [maybe go and buy some more hukd deals!]
then put the battery back, NOT the sim card, fire up your LG software, plug the phone in via USB only and
make sure that Wi-Fi is off on the phone.. go to updates and wait, it *should* then force a MM6 upgrade to
the handset.. it might take a while to find it and you might need to repeat it once or twice but it should then
do it there and then.. once update to MM6 is done via LG software, then wait until it reboots, might be twice
again, once all setup, turn it off, slip your sim back in and your done..still not working after trying that?
Delete, as in uninstall one of the stock LG apps or if on a locked network, one of the bloatware ones that
came with the handset.. once done, turn it off, take sim and battery out, wait 5 mins, put battery back in
and turn it on, turn on wifi and then go to software updates.. it might say something like you need to put
the app you deleted / uninstalled back on, ignore that, press check for updates, then install MM6 that
way.. let it update, once all done, switch it off, put your sim back in, turn it on.. also once that is done
you can then click airplane mode, leave it for 5 mins and then switch airplane mode back off, this will
get you a nice new radio modem tag and a better signal than you had *sometimes* than before..
The LG G4 was already a top of the shop flagship and was very, very under rated for the price that
it was sold at before.. now it is £225 + Android Marshmallow 6 = stunning in all respects!
YES the LG G5 is coming, YES the Samsung S7 is coming, YES Cruz will be the next US president
but all of those will cost you a blooming fortune.. this will not!

The stock levels change a lot. I would check in the morning. I saw no stock in Cambridgeshire on Sunday or yesterday then it suddenly showed up. As per previous threads, you can unlock for £2.50ish and you lose all the Vodafone bloat bar the startup splash screen without rooting by using LG Up software. I will keep an eye out. Really want this phone for the "average" camera and "average" specs!
Just out of interest what's the serial number of the phone you got? It's not one of the 505-509 models which had the bootloop issues is it?
Skymonkey to quaium
3 Feb 16#17
I believe it is a 507 model having checked. I can take it back I guess, within two weeks to any vodafone store if I encounter priblems - thereafter it's straight to LG from what I have read on forums.
The camera is astounding compared to my trusty G2 - especially night shots.
I've just upgraded to Marshmallow via LG Bridge for windows and I've noticed no issues so far.

2 Feb 16#15
The 2-4 days don't mean that it will be in stock in store, it means if you order an LG G4 it will take 2-4 days if you order online to be delivered in to the store of your choice.
I actually got one and it's a cracking phone. It is also a phone with a serial number that starts 507 and I've no problems with it apart from sometimes when you first boot it up it doesn't latch onto the Vodafone network. I just switch data off and back on again and it latches onto the network.

I love my lg g4 and I change my phone every 3 to 4 months. I'm staying with this for a while as I tale a lot of pics and the camera is the est I have used on a phone. Front facing camera is 8mp and takes great shots. Like with any android phone to get the best battery just disable all the stuff you won't use. I easily get a day out of mine and I'm a heavy user. Expandable storage and 32gb built in. Love it

I had this phone for a month and ended up to sell it as battery life was less than a day( even after 6.0 update), leather back looked cheap as well- not a premium phone, above average. The only impressive thing about this phone is its display and camera (but only when used on daylight, otherwise very noisy pics).

Confirmed as working [well actually it worked] on Monday, well worth *any* effort to get
one at £225, especially as it is a nowhere near "average" handset.. unless you of course
have paid £500-900 for a "very under average" Crapple iBone
Opening post

Good timing too as my £10 vodafone bundle expires tomorrow, now I can just switch to my Three sim... although the **** just put up my plan price from £12 to £20!!
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lg-g4-leather-back-cover-black-14-99-amazon-dispatched-from-sold-ebuyer-2406967
They couldn't do it when the phone was boxed and unused but after activating with a Vodafone sim, they tried again.... Job done.
Best phone on the market for the money.
Way to do it is:
1. Buy phone and get Vodafone sim with credit
2. Make and receive calls
3. Wait 7 days
4. Buy unlock code from eBay using link from this thread
5. Get code next day and unlock
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160637322093?clk_rvr_id=973094762566&rmvSB=true
I read a review which states that it actually charges the battery slower than the phone does, by design - it's better for the battery.
Also the case I mentioned earlier in the thread arrived and is great. Really tough and protects it well.
On chat with them now to see if i can get the money put on my account instead

Looked for a solution on Internet tonight, tried factory reset etc etc.
Still not working with 3 SIM. Though works fine with Vodafone Sim.
Think I will have to cut my losses and sell.
Thanks for trying to help
Worked fine with the Vodafone sim.
Going to take it into a 3 store to try and sort.
Felt like my LG G2 looked a better phone, the back seemed much more solid.
I'm using Three and have encountered no problems. Have you tried performing a factory reset? Perhaps a new sim?
I know what you mean regarding the G2, which I had previously and was the best phone I've ever had. The G4 is a bit larger, I'll get used to it but if they made it in the G2 body I'd be eternally happy.
Battery life seems very good. I'm still on 55% after using it all day

Can someone explain please as to how to avoid the top-up fee £10.00? I got one available at my local Vodafone store but they said I must pay £235 including top up as I am not with Vodafone.
P.S I can't pay for it online as well as it is OSS for both contract and PAYG

Trying unlock-code-shop now. Got a near instant message saying no code from server so now working on another method. I'll post if un/successful so people on here know if worth it.
Update: unlock-code-shop can't do them either.
It seems like the company djnield mentions above is better though, so if you're unlocking I'd stick with that one.
I'm going to have a heck of a time trying to return this. I reckon I can fix it if I flash a new from but that'll invalidate warranty.
This is the last g4 I'm going to get. I cannot get a working one, hopefully get an S6 soon.

went meadowhall for them to say yes if course bla bla and then they couldn't find the phone and launched investigation (ooopsie). they were fab and so apologetic and said barnsley have one left in grey, explained prev situ and said ask to see manager she shouldn't have told you what she did bla bla and its managers discretion. my store was closed at this point so turned up at 9am following morning and surprise im told again its impossible Vodafone cant do this that and other, and meadowhall were wrong to tell me i could have it (steaming by this point) told her to very politely to go f**k herself she had no idea what she was doing told her theres one at a store 20 miles away ill go there for her to snort theres no point same answer we cant do it.
obviously she was a lying little rat (which i already knew) walked out of that shop with it 5 mins later, if i thought i could hold my temper id take it to barnsley store and shove it in her nose to prove a point but hey ho ive finally got it. believe it or not until recently i worked for Vodafone customer service and i honestly wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
both Wakefield and meadowhall stores were disgusted both have advised to complain formally but i know there really is no point they will never follow it up. every single call to vodafone is recorded but stores are run by monkeys, they are such a bad company tosign a contract with peeps please be careful. with my job i got 50% discount and priority on devices and i still wouldnt have one if that puts it in a vetter context.
Enoyo!
This was carried out for the red backed phone - there will also be ample silver backed stock. Please check your area.

Assuming it's defective and I'm going to have to return it.
I'm also thinking of getting one of the circle cases and a Wireless charging pad are they worth it?
Awesome phone. My old faithful note 3 seems unbelievable slow compared to this
Got code really quick and I bought it at 2200 he answered questions quickly too. Highly recommended
This is the G4 guys. Wake up and smell the Gold Blend. :smirk:
Put my 3 sim into the phone but it wouldn't come up with a prompt to enter the unlock code. From the phone dialer I entered 2945#*815# (my model number was H815) and this gave a menu to enter the network unlock code. Phone reboots. Seems to make calls and text fine.
I think you can also go to Settings > General >About this phone > software (or something like that) and see if there's an update. But generally you just have to wait for it to show up OTA, you can't really force it to update.
Also, can someone recommend a quick unlock company? I want to use my tesco sim, and the serial number starts with 506.

Been hours now and am just a tad impatient waiting for a response
Whats the eBay auction number for the code you used?
I've tried one auction but they couldn't find a match, the other auction everyone in this thread/other treads are getting success with is "on vacation" so eBay wont let me purchase.
I'm also on Three, so would be interested to if there are issues with calls too - seems unrelated tho surely.
Just because it didn't work for you, doesn't mean it doesn't work.
You Tube video
So yes, good idea.
If it doesn't work, I will swap over to a TalkMobile sim instead which comes with 1gb data
All I can say is I had a good experience with them, had an email saying about the delay and then woke up with the code, which worked. And I have email proof of it all.
I think my unlock has failed as I can't make calls with my 3 sim in the g4 even though the seller tells me its now unlocked. looks like I'll have to swap to vodaphone from 3.
Anyone know if gifgaf would work in a vodaphone phone?
Also, does anyone know anything about this 50gb free data for signing up to the Big Value Bundle?
I got an SMS today after switching on the phone/sim for the first time saying they were giving me 50gb free for 30days and it will be added to my allowance - but my allowance is still 500mb and the only T&C I can see state the offer expired in December.
I'm thinking if I can't unlock this 512 for a month or so then this 50gb would be very handy - but it's looking like it's not a current offer.
Lastly did you lose any data when you did the KDZ flash because I dont want to start installing my apps afresh.
Thanks in advance.
Asked a guy if they had any LG G4 PAYG and he thought about it for a moment then said he thinks he does so went and looked, came back saying there's 2 left so handed me to a colleague to process. She then said they were out of stock but the other guy said "no, we do have some" much to her surprise.
Turns out the manager who I spoke to just automatically switched it from contract to PAYG without me needing to ask!
So that's the good news. Bad news is its a 512 so might not unlock it seems...
Gutted :disappointed:
Just a guess mind...
Meanwhile, I'll run it on a Vodafone SIM.
Worst comes to worst vodafone will unlock it, but it costs £20 and you need to have used the phone for 30 days.

Will hopefully find one soon.
Also, I have 511 version and there was no problem at all with a £2.49 ebay unlock code.
I think the key element is for the phone to be connected via usb.
It first said the download initially said 2Gb but it is currently downloading 908Mb.
By the way Feltham seems to have stock. I went to a shop and it was advertised as PAYG £225 so should be straight forward to buy.
Got lucky myself because I met someone I know works at Vodafone today and he got me one from the shop where he works, with 20% off ! We were both surprised as it is already heavily discounted.
Be patient. Hopefully you'll get one!
Most also don't take inbound calls.
Been trying to purchase one for about a week now online. Checked stock for local store and they had stock of the grey one on pay monthly but none of the red leather ones.
Decided to just go without the leather back but had to smile when the salesman returned and asked which colour I'd prefer.
Ermmmmm.... Red Please
Lastly did you lose any data when you did the KDZ flash because I dont want to start installing my apps afresh.
Thanks in advance.
No problems at all

As ever - all at your own risk, of course.
edit: MM firmware is here
Had to look for the .kdz file but it's in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/stock-h815-20d-images-kdz-flashable-t3301366
Click on CODEFIRE DIRECTORY link and download the .kdz file. That's the one I used.
Yet again, all at your own risk. Do your own research etc.

Loads of other stores I've not checked....
And lots of others. Well worth searching for - there is lots of stock showing up in the random areas I searched above.
My network unlock seemed to work fine - got a success message, however I now need to go back into town to get a micro-sim from EE as I've only got a nano-sim
AFAIK the UK is nearly unique in not requiring unlocks though it would take a brave carrier to refuse.
Is there a step by step of doing this?
It is just a simple conversion on the MMP for the handset imei number / VF barcode held stock eg: Pay Monthly to PAYG, you still get the same warranty and when you register it on VF online account for payg, its the same as any
VF payg handset.. just get it OFF Vodafone as soon as you can by unlocking it ;-)
And the battery is double the capacity of most phones. And it's £129 delivered new from GearBest. Took 8 days from pre-order to arriving at my house and having been sensible with the value I asked them to declare, it arrived with no VAT or import duties.
http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_230567.html
Just a little confused, so you don't actually purchase the contract online correct? You just add to basket to confirm stock availability?
I am planning to do a charge back with my credit card company and they should sort it out with Vodafone if they want the phone back
Wow. You could just unlock the phone and use another network?
Just out of interest what's the serial number of the phone you got? It's not one of the 505-509 models which had the bootloop issues is it?
The camera is astounding compared to my trusty G2 - especially night shots.
I've just upgraded to Marshmallow via LG Bridge for windows and I've noticed no issues so far.
I actually got one and it's a cracking phone. It is also a phone with a serial number that starts 507 and I've no problems with it apart from sometimes when you first boot it up it doesn't latch onto the Vodafone network. I just switch data off and back on again and it latches onto the network.
Confirmed as working [well actually it worked] on Monday, well worth *any* effort to get
one at £225, especially as it is a nowhere near "average" handset.. unless you of course
have paid £500-900 for a "very under average" Crapple iBone
