This offer is back on again through Severn Trent /Homeserve.
I know Home serve have had problems in the past but I think £6 is worth a gamble.
Their blurb :
If you are a homeowner, you are responsible for the upkeep and repair of the plumbing and drainage system within your home and generally responsible for the repair to the water supply pipe, from your property boundary up to where it enters your home. In some cases this responsibility may be outside the property boundary or shared with neighbouring properties. With such complex systems, if you experienced a problem such as a burst pipe or a blocked drain, it could be expensive to put right. That's why Severn Trent is introducing you to HomeServe to bring you Plumbing & Drainage Plus.
With Plumbing & Drainage Plus, major emergencies such as burst pipes or blocked drains and minor repairs like dripping taps are all taken care of. In a plumbing emergency, there would be no need to search for a plumber, it would take just one call to HomeServe's 24-hour, UK based helpline to arrange assistance from a HomeServe approved plumber. Plus, there would be no repair bill or excess to pay within the claims limit.
This limited offer of £6 for the first year ends on 18th April 2016. Any applications received by HomeServe after this date will be processed at £12 for the first year.

Rubbish... Worth £6.
They sorted my collapsed sewer pipe.
Took them a few visits but it would have cost me a lot more if I didn't have the cover.
I've since cancelled because it was double the price after introductory offer.
I'm thinking of getting the Mrs to sign up to this.
Good deal op.

if u have a water leak ,on the supply pipe, even if it's on your property , the water board will fix it , free of charge , they wont leave water pumping out, or leave u without water, and they will try and reinstate the ground , though things like block paving ect will cost extra . As for the waste, they normal block in the main run , and how many times does that happen? unless u r stupid enough to flush things you shouldn't ...

Not true, we had a letter from servern Trent saying a leak was found on our shared supply pipe with neighbours and we needed to sort it out between us. They couldn't pin point it and we needed to get a plumber in to find it. As we are home owners but neighbours aren't, the leak was actually on there side but shared we was still responsible and if we didn't sort it, they could enforce action against us! We got onto council as they were responsible for that property, but we did Contact our home insurance which would of covered it less the excess, which was £150. So this offer is great, well worth it.

Depends as much on your neighbours and your layout of pipework, mine used to block regularly because of someone further up, but if it blocks your section, what can you do, first time it happened, got the council out, cost twice the annual cost of homeserve, this was after trying a spring and drainage rods, without the pressure equipment, it was possible for me to sort it.
Homeserve from my experience were excellent.

Interesting, I went with HomeCare Boiler Cover 8, and my renewal for year 2 was more than double the first year introductory rate! I know its an introductory price but to more than double it on the second year was disgusting!

can previous customers of £6 offer last year sign up again?

No you can't, but when they quote you a price for the next year, it's worth a negotiation as they will come down by a fair amount

Yes you can apply for this £6 over if your previous policy has been cancelled for more than 28 days.

Home Serve are soso.
I had them for years with mixed results.
Last call out was for a 3 way valve.the replaced it but drained the system down the wrong way.
This caused the valve that lets overflow water out to the back garden to let the system drain out.
They came back to fix this and damaged wiring and printed circuit board.six visits in all and half the boiler replaced. So good and bad lol.
The Anglian deal I was on just ended so will wait a month and take out this one.
