Windows phone hardware Is fab, software is really bad. Just wasted another hour of my life trying to get my 640's mobile tethering to work. It now goes off as soon as the screen goes to sleep. Apparently it was in the last update. I have reached my end with Windows phones, (must have had 10 or more) but to be honest, so has Microsoft according to the rumours. Save your money, there must be better phones out there.

its a great phone for the price, if I dnt rely on apps so much then get it.
I was using galaxy s3 and I can say the 640 is a better phone especially with the battery life.

Just tried a 640 sent from Microsoft, phone itself is quality, really liked it but, and this is a bit but, if you like your apps then it's a letdown which is a real shame. For example Instagram is like taking a trip back 2 years, Google photos non existent.

Just depends on how many apps you want and need. Those that do not exist I either just go online to their site on the phone or wait until I get home and use my PC. I don't do games.

Unfortunately many official apps are poor quality on the Windows platform, although the situation has improved where devs have updated there apps for Windows 10.
For those that haven't you have to look for superior third party alternatives. For example: 6tag is the most feature rich instagram client, Tubecast or Metrotube are excellent YouTube replacements.

Those "Windows Phone Is Dead" articles are pure click-bait. Technically they are true as the software is now named "Windows 10 Mobile", not "Windows Phone".
Also, just because you are having issues with tethering, it doesn't mean that it's a universal problem on Windows. On the odd occasion that I have used tethering on my 830 it has worked perfectly.
