There is unlikely to be much of a connection between raising the wages and the changes in their promotions strategy.
The whole point of things like half price weekend deals was to get people in store and trying it (and then hopefully get them in the habit of going there). Since their growth is double-digit now and word of mouth and positive press is now getting people through the door for next to nothing, there is no longer any need for them to run loss leaders.
Personally I only ever visited when they had a good half price deal or sports gear. The shorter queues elsewhere were worth the (literally in my case) few pennies I would save queuing at Lidl.

Would disagree espcially about lidl their offers have gone crap since they made some changes at the begging of this year. Before as well as having half price weekends they also had quiet a few offers on different products throughout the week as used to be shown on the this weeks offers section which used to be quiet full on their website now it only lists 4 products. Overall we are getting a worse deal a lot of the meat in the pick of the week offers was included in the half price weekend promotions last year at a much cheaper price than these current offers. I agree with one of the other commenters that the cost of providing an increased wage for staff has had a negative effect on the prices they charge in store. It's starting to feel like just any other supermarket now.

No half price weekend offers / no £5 off £40 spend each month and even the the manager was fighting with a local smak head in the store last time I went in one of their shops. Not worth it any more; I will be back to Tescos or Sainsburys and get get decent customer service and reward points. Ok whilst they did the deals but falling flat on their Lederhosens now.....Aufiedersein Lidl!
