Or what about siblings who amalgamate their smaller shops just to take advantage of offers for bigger spends?

In my experience Waitrose are a good reliable payer at TCB - no arguments or refused cashback.
Waitrose.com accepts John Lewis prepaid cards and vouchers, which potentially gives you a bit more off if you have access to those at a discount.
