Currently gift subscriptions to Google Play Music are half their regular price, working out at £4.99 per month, rather than £9.99

I think it is better than both. Amazon Prime is the poor option by far but Spotify vs Google is a tougher call. But for me with a large catalogue of MP3's burned from my CD library, being able to upload these to the cloud and have access to them is great. I also prefer the album based approach in Google rather than the largely playlist focus of Spotify. yes, both can do the same as each other but Google was geared differently from the start.
Sound quality is on a par IMO but Spotify's desktop app is woefully slow and hugely frustrating. The desktop experience is enough to make me want so move away. And finally, the family options of google's offering is superior and cheaper.

Can you just double up the 6 month ones?
EDIT: Apparently you can stack up to 5 years.

I wonder if you added the credit and then upgraded to th family plan? Unless you're on family plan already, might be a way round it?

For those using the free three months at Christmas still, does the gift subscription stack on top (i.e. starting towards the end of March) or does it start instantly?

Mine stacked on top of an existing 3 month package I already had.

Thanks op - Google had given me £30 credit for a 3 month Google Play pass that didn't activate correctly - glad I waited to use it!
