Decent deal, though to me being forced to pay for line rental is a waste, as it isn't needed with fibre optic broadband. No need for a landline phone for 99% of people anymore. Businesses a different story.

Totally agree there, My virgin bell has crept up by £15 in the last year.
I have rang to see if they could do me a retention deal, nothing doing, so I have given them 30 days cancellation notice. Time to shop around for deals like this then.

I just did the same thing and posted the deal after you (didn't see it was already posted so expired my one).
Same deal, 12 month contract, no activation fee and they also offered 50% off TV packages but I didn't go for TV.

I pushed them on the tv deal and got 60% off and £100 credit {though it was supposed to be £50, so I don't know how I managed that!) but just shows what deals the CAN give if you push them

You can't compare virgin to sky, virgin is a far superior connection.

sky do not throttle or shape your traffic at any time. at one point they were the only company to be able to say this. Although I dont know if that is still true. in my experiance they also have second to no customer service although a cant say that for their TV as I have never had it.

I can and have literally downloaded anything I wanted on Sky Fibre. I managed to get get half price deal again last year on renewal. I wish they had a better router than the SR102 they provide, however I did manage to use wireshark to packet sniff the username and password from the router, so I could buy a better router and use it on my Sky broadband. I have the SR102 hub, the Sky Q hub might be better but I don't want a TV package from Sky.

Yes they do slow down your speed between 4pm & 8pm. Although they say they don't. ...!!!

This.
I've had sky fibre unlimited for 8 months and it has been perfect, not a single occassion the internet hasn't worked or speeds have slowed down.

There's no such thing as unlimited and no throttling. to use an analogy the Internet superhighway is like the normal highway. capacity issues. At peak times more cars on the road means slower traffic. so suspect that you've either not noticed you've been throttled or you've not been on the Internet at the busiest periods

Pretty sure that EU law now states that for consumer broadband it is a maximum of 12 months service contract (not phone, just BB) - could be wrong if there are specific "terms" but came across it recently.
Might help

Is Sky fibre any good? Their old broadband service was awful.
