Tell me about it? .. those HP Micro Servers have ALWAYS intrigded me mind? (I don't own any Servers by the way, be they HP or otherwise?).
But at that eventual ridiculous final price bracket?, then ..... I may just look to reconsider?, lol. :-)

More than enough. only thing that should be going in a server are HDDs which average less than 10w each.

I have a HP N54L that i retired for the Xenon version of this so i know a little about it, i have 2x8gb of HyperX 1866mhz ram and its fine although it only runs it at 1600mhz so you dont need error checking ram like you do with the Gen8. I have Windows 10 pro on mine as i didn't need a server OS for media serving in the home and via Plex because Windows 10 with a few reg tweaks was fine and a server OS would of caused issues with software i run on my server the issue with the Dell is its not suppose to run a home OS and their are no drivers for them on the Dell site so you have to beg borrow and steal them off different home machines with the same hardware i suspect the Pentium may be a little easier than the Xenon as its a desktop CPU. It was a bit of a pain but its been fine now for months i have turned off updates though as i dont want it updating drivers and causing it to crash because they are not comparable. This is not a machine the average user could stick a GPU in and use it as a gaming rig as it takes a little know how to get it running but as a server its great, i cant speak to the Pentium version but the Xenon is nearly as fast as my Haswell 4690k.
You've linked to a page of server 2012 the Dell doesnt support home Os's like ive said and some of those drivers dont work and theirs some missing i know ive been through it. Your making it out to be a desktop replacement and its not heres the Dell page. This is not going to be like sticking ram and a HDD in a Intel Nuc and installing windows although it is possible its not for the average home PC user its a bit more advanced than that to get all the drivers needed and installed.
Your PowerEdge T20 supports these operating systems:

Interesting comment there?, thanx.
Note 1, HOPEFULLY some of my above supplied links would help a little bit in regard to firmware/Software drivers & the like?.
Note 2, Ironically I WAS coming back to my original post just now to fan the ever increasing waters of the ever increasing waves of the Media Streamers/KODI Fanboy people out there with a wee comment of my own!, but ..... hahahahaha (you beat me to it!) :-)
You can install the Chrome OS on this, Android OS on this, &/or KODI on this via some fancy Partitioning using things like GPart, Partition Magic & the like? (that would be AWESOME!, hehehe), knock yourselves out people? (figuratively speaking ofcourse?, lol). :-)

Does anyone know which out of this server or the HP Microserver Gen 8 uses the least power and which is quieter?
Thanks
Kevin

I have both, The HP Gen8 is quieter, power consumption (at idle) is roughly equivalent (within 5W). The T20 has a more powerful CPU and hence a higher power consumption when running the CPU at 100%.
