Price keeps fluctuating, has been at this price before but not for a few days. 1200D specs look dated now but it is easy to use, handles well and is cheap!
£229 elsewhere but not in grey. Free Canon bag also available under "special offers".

I've got the dual lens version of this from Currys.
Fantastic camera, a big upgrade from my Nikon D40.
I use it for amateur aviation photography and very impressed with the results.
Can't go wrong at the price.

Good price. Jessops £10 more but "free" bag "worth" £40.
Yes you can get about £15 for the bag on fleabay minus shipping, final value and PayPal fees, so it works out about the same. More hassle though.

The Argos deal includes the bag too!

Those bags aren't worth the hassle. Can't fit much in them. I've tried many camera bags and I find that the best solution to to buy a waterproof messenger bag. Easy access and lots of room. Especially if you carry 2 cameras to save switching lenses.
In response to the deal, heat from me. Brilliant starter camera if you want to get into photography. Very capable, and able to take very professional photographs if used correctly. No need to spend £1500-3000 on a Canon 5D MK3 or Nikon D4s. Grab this, an external flash and a couple of lenses and you're away!

I'm looking for a decent camera and this seems like a good deal - good reviews on Argos website too.
Is there any other camera I would look at that is better or a good comparison?
Thanks

Not at this price and new. The Nikon D3300 is their entry level DSLR camera with a 24 Megapixel APS-C Sensor, The D3200 before it is a good camera with and came out around the same time as the 1200D but your only find refurbs or used models of those.

What's your budget? In terms of cameras people would class as "enthusiast grade", meaning a large sensor, interchangeable lenses and full manual controls, the 1200D is the cheapest first-hand option on the market, but there are other options in the £250-£300 space from most of the other big manufacturers that may be more or less appealing to you, so have a read around!
No mention of an IS lens, the lens in the images isn't the IS version, and it would be a very cheap deal if it was. I would bet on it not being the stabilised version.

Good stuff. Camerapricebuster didn't mention.

Trying to determine if the lens is an image stabilised version, any thoughts?

Not image stabilised. Look for IS in the lens description.

For some reason works for me on my PC but not on my iPhone. If you just navigate to Argos it is easily found.
