This thing is rated at 20 watts RMS - your TV might be just as good but as most flat tellys have speakers at the back (ie not pointing at you) I'd expect this would help add depth to the sound and some stereo separation if the speakers are placed correctly. Be interested to know myself if this adds much to a bog standard telly (which are normally rated at around 20 watts).
