I am genuinely mystified with comments like these and others when talking about customer services for any network.
Personally once my phone has been moved onto a contract the next time I usually speak to someone is usually when I need my PAC code which can be a year or two later.

Do people actually call mobile operators that often with a problem?

I was with talkmobile for 14 days and couldn't really fault them. Their CS was very good at sorting out issues. Only reason I left was the £20 Vodafone deal.

You can cap to £11 per month. Not the best but good enough.

The funny thing about talk mobile is i took out a contract with them about 6yrs ago and only had it a day because i couldn't get a signal.
at the time they said they couldn't cancel it but i had a good read up before i went back and there terms and conditions said that i had the right to cancel but they still wouldn't have it even in black and white writing so i said get the manager.
In the end the manager rang TM and they said it was right but in a few weeks they would be changing it.
The moral of the story is that after all that time they are still on my credit file which by all that time they shouldn't be
i never missed any payments because it was cancelled and i still pay all my bills on time.
Optimus_Toaster to sdduk2
22 Feb 16 #20
To be fair to them that was 6 years ago. I cancelled this contract after 13 days (due to a better deal) and they were absolutely fine. Got my PAC and will only pay for what I got.
sdduk2
22 Feb 16 #21
Yeah but have a look on your credit file and see if it goes on there.
To be honest its not stopped me from getting anything its just i thought after all these years it would have been gone or not even mentioned on there because never did anything wrong to be put on there.

Quidco/TCB are offering £47.50 if you go through them, it's not guaranteed you will get it.

It still costs £10. amonth the £47.50 is a bonus if it pays out.
mk-donald to asdasadidas1

Posters were not saying it was that to BUY, but that you could get that amount of cashback potentially by purchasing via a £back site eg see
http://www.topcashback.co.uk/talkmobile/
mk-donald
22 Feb 16 1 #29
Potential likely downside... It's likely their automated voice prompt re 'this month's allowance remaining' system will give you the same half-complete info it's giving with my TalkMobile plan as it appears the offer is a DOUBLE data allowance for a fixed period ie contract is likely going to be for 2GB/m with 2GB/m bonus for first 12 months.

If so then their automated announcements would ONLY tell you about your remaining 2GB "Inclusive data" and NOT the 2GB "data Free of charge", for that you'd have to visit their website & log in and NOT via the synthesised voice announcements.

ie the Usage: "Check for free from your Talkmobile phone by dialling 5888 and choosing option 2 then option 1 followed by option 1"

PS: While checking that I heard my out of allowance charge cap is £50 not £10 mentioned by a poster earlier and their help says:
"Unfortunately it’s not currently possible to cap your data but we’re working on it. Once you've used up your monthly allowance, we set a limit of £50 to reduce the risk of fraudulent activity on your account if your phone gets lost or stolen. "

PPS
I'm only using them as saw a HUKD deal in 2014with a 100% cashback of the monthly contract fee from their sister company e2Save - which has paid out as promised

I signed up to one of their sim deals 9 days ago , i was sent an email saying the sim card would be posted first class and arrive 3-4 days later.... I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I rang this evening to be told they are having issues with standard and micro sim cards at the moment and hence haven't dispatched any. Pitty they haven't let me know !!
I'm now waiting for a nano sim to arrive and I will have to go out and get a sim adaptor , however they are adding £5 credit to my account to pay for it.

I've moved on from talktalk after having nightmares trying to close my contract with them , this is still with ofcom .Lessons learnt maybe in future I need to put my hands deep in my pocket and go direct to one of the major network providers for some "service".

Update on my previous post ..... my nano sim still hasn't arrived and yet the sim adaptor I ordered online has ..... , almost two weeks gone and I still haven't got my sim. What with the issues I had with talktalk before and now talkmobile I'm sick to death of mobile phone companies.
Has anyone recieved a multi sim card from them since this started ? My order was placed before this deal was announced.

22 Feb 16 1 #34
You signed up to a contract sim, so even if you cancel immediately it will show as settled (closed). As long as there are no late payment markers etc, its perfectly fine.

It will drop off after 6 years like all credit accounts.

So how do people find virtual networks that piggy back off of Vodafone, from a data perspective?
I was with Sainsburys Mobile before they shut up shop in January and they used Vodafone's network.
I live in Northamptonshire and no where in any towns or even in Northampton or Milton Keynes. Could I ever get decent data speeds. It was nearly always GPRS speed (2G) and on the rare occasions it was 3G the speed was never more that 300kbps.
I bought a SIM with 1GB of data a month, and with awful data coverage never managed to use more than about 75MB of data in a month.
Put in perspective I use 8GB of data with Three a month and get 3G speeds of 13-16MBPS.
Every time I called Sainsburys mobile they confirmed the settings on my phone was correct and the network was running well.
Will never use a virtual network on Vodafone again.
Optimus_Toaster to gilesrdavies
23 Feb 16 #47
It depends on where you live. I cannot use anyone but vodafone or one of their MVNO as EE, 3 and O2 sims don't get signal indoors in my house or at work. I don't think O2 or 3 actually know the lake district exists. Elsewhere the story is different.

Anybody know if you can port a number from Vodafone to Talk as my Vodafone cheap deal is coming to an end soon and as I currently get a good signal I would be happy to stay on a Vodafone related provider. I know there are some good Sim only cash back Voda deals around (such as net £5.50 after doing the submit bills routine) but this would save having to port number across to say a Three PAYG for a bit and then getting new Voda sim and having to port back.
stevebarrett86 to stevebarrett86
24 Feb 16 #73
Spoke to CS on a chat screen and you can port from Voda to Talk no problem. Would be good to know when they are getting 4G and whether they are to charge extra for it or have it as an option (as LIFE mobile appear to be going to do from what I can glean from a survey I have just completed for them)

Odd. I'm with TalkMobile and the few customer service issues I've had were along the same lines as the previous poster - very clearly dealt with via an offshore centre with robotic scripts, which in one way is good (in that if you have a common problem that can just feed through a flow chart it will eventually get resolved because they just follow their processes), but anything out of the ordinary becomes an issue to resolve (although admittedly that does feed back to the UK).

Cheap and cheerful. I find the network calls and data service ranks below the best but well above GiffGaff in terms of data speeds even without 4G (not that comparisons with GiffGaff on data speeds mean much - pretty much everyone beats them!)

I used to be a Talk Mobile customer and they are sly. They charged me £250 of data usage and clearly didn't notify me that I went over. It didn't happen once. It happened twice. I was on a 2gb for £5 per month plan. good price but there's always a trap behind something that sounds too good to be true.

Seems like a great deal. Can I just ask whether they will cap monthly spending so you can't over use the data ?
premierfella
2 Mar 16 #89
Just to balance that, I'm not sure what applied at that time (probably no limit), but now there is a £50 out of allowance default limit. Unless you are roaming or doing something really silly, at 2p/MB I doubt whether many people would be running up £250 bills by accident now with Talkmobile, even if the data reporting lag meant a few days usage in excess of that £50 limit.

On the price hikes mid-term, the T&Cs say that is limited to RPI on out of plan charges.

If you were lucky enough for them to foolishly hike the tariff mid-term, happy days, you'd be able to just get your PAC number and run (so highly unlikely to happen - they're unlikely to do something that stupid) - T&C 8.3

I can only speak as I find but I've been with them since 2012 and haven't had any issues. I've not experienced any price hikes. The times I have contacted them via online Chat I've keep a copy of the transcript 'just in case' as I do as a matter of course for any supplier.
