Darn, Just got myself a dell 13, but this looks like a great deal at this price. Backlit keys, touch/ full HD, convertible, 8GB RAM, 256SSD. Although, I wonder if one could install OSX on it easily enough...

You probably have an i7 'm' processor. These are 'u' ultra low power processors, so not a like-for-like comparison. The equivalent now is Intel's 'H' range.
If we look at the Intel Core i7-2760QM, which was listed at $378 by Intel, it scores 6652 in Passmark. The Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ is now listed at $378 by Intel, and comes in with a passmark score of 8043. There is also the Intel® Core™ i7-6820HQ Processor, which is also listed at $378 by Intel, which comes in at 8949.
There are performance parts - and parts that'll perform much more than your 4 year old i7 - but you do need to chose the right laptop to get them. A thin and light convertible is not really where you'll find such things!

It has Intel HD Graphics 5500.
(For comparison, HP Spectre uses Intel HD Graphics 520 and Macbook 12 Intel HD Graphics 5300)

So by that analogy, putting a BMW diesel engine in a rover 75 means its a BMW 75 now? No wonder you're confused with tech, perhaps you should put your laptop back in the box.
Intel have badged it 'U'. Its not exactly something they've just sprung on us, they've been using U,M,T, HQ etc for years.

Just checked PCWorld price and it costs £750 with half-sized SSD, while other shops want over £800...

It's still a good 300 to 400 cheaper than a similar spec Spectre X360 - so a very good deal in my opinion

You are misinformed. This one is not skylake, the spectre is skylake. This one isnt capable of using active pens, the spectre is as it uses synaptics pens although not mentioned in the specs. The spectre is also quad HD and bigger screen and better battery life and the ash grey version just looks so much more premium than lenovo, plus lenovo has had its recent spells of lenovo spyware. I got a 500gb quad hd spectre ash grey copper hinge version for £989 but 250 version was cheaper, Hd version was also cheaper. there are cheaper options than on direct HP website by about £110. Went with the spectre even though had the 500gb lenovo yoga 3 pro in my basket for £499 at black friday weekend

The Spectre x360 is very nice, but it hasn't wowed me like my 2009 MacBook did. The touchpad is pretty crappy.

Has anyone got experience of this device? Reviews are broadly good, but some comments about reliability give concern. Hot for the price.

I was tempted but have seen a lot of complaints about the quality of the device - will hold out for a spectre deal I think...

I bought this model from Currys just before Christmas for £679.99 using a £20 O2 voucher plus the £100 cashback from Lenovo, so £579.99 in total.
I returned the laptop for a full refund for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the screen just wasn't bright enough for me. This might not bother everyone but I really noticed the difference when compared side by side to my old Dell laptop, my Toshiba work laptop, my iPhone and my Samsung Tablet (SM-P600), all of which were considerably brighter than the Lenovo Yoga 3 14". Further online research revealed this point is noted in reviews - the power of hindsight lol! Secondly, the fan drove me mad on this laptop, even with one browser window open, the fan was constantly whirring away, fairly loudly too compared to my other laptops - may well have been a faulty model. Finally, the keyboard, whilst pretty good to type on, seemed to sag a little in the middle for want of a better description. This last point won't bother many as much as it did me, as I tend to hit the keys quite hard and tend to notice any movement in all but the most solid of keyboards, as I happily hammer away at this old Dell keyboard.
Those points aside, the laptop seemed fairly well made and quite quick, certainly for that price. I found the touchscreen pretty good too, although some reviews suggest this can become unresponsive. I was disappointed it didn't quite fit the bill for me as I quite liked the laptop, but those points above just bugged me too much so personally I can't recommend for those reasons. However, there's not much out there for that price with a similar specification, but I've decided to increase my budget to find a laptop that fits my requirements. Hope this is of help.

Something worth mentioning for people looking to customise is that it has a 5mm 2.5" sata and a single DIMM (although replaceable) - no m.2 slot

Lenovo are quoting '256GB SSD M.2' on the spec list....is this an error?

Also worth while mentioning that this is not the "Yoga 3 Pro".
