The play:1 bundles are now £269 in store at Currys Digital as they are clearing stock.
This is in store only but should be nationwide dependant on stock levels, I got mine from Doncaster and they had 4 more packs on the shelf.
Hope this helps someone other then me :)
Can be had for £249 if you use o2 priority thanks to nicky_d00

they are overrated and don't sound great, though for the money they are ok
Its overrated as isheep owners or fashion victims like the look of them, just like this laughably bad devialet speaker/amp

Would rather put my money together and get the new play 5.
Good price tho.

Plenty say 2 x 1''s are better than 1 x 5 for separation etc. Only drawback is less connectivety.

Yeah, I'd forgotten, paid full price and went back later the same day. They were good and refunded the difference!

Do these need to have a Ethernet cable attached or can they work off Wi-Fi? I've been looking at these for a while but am a bit wary as they do not offer Bluetooth. Also can I ask can you get the sound from your TV to come through these?
Cheers.

No need for Ethernet as it can run via wifi. To get tv sound through these I believe you need the playbar which connects via optical cable and connect to the play-1's for surround sound.... (There is probably some fancy way of getting around this...) The play-1's are suitable for music streaming services  e.g Spotify

No sound from your TV with these. You need a Playbar or Play:5 for that (I know you can also do it with the connect line of products but the lag is unbearable)

yes, they work on wireless, however if you want to add a Sub or Surround speakers then you will need a bridge (obsolete) or boost. The Playbar connects to the TV, but make sure the TV outputs 5.1 from the digital optical as most only send out 5.1 from digital freeview, i connect mine direct to the skybox, and when I want to use a DVD player you can either move the cable or use a splitter. this way its 5.1 if the programme is outputting in 5.1.

I'm going to disagree unfortunately. I'm a massive Sonos fan and have it kitted out throughout my house. 2 x Play 1 IMO lacks the bass and can sound a bit soulless in a big room. The single Play 5 (especially the new one) is so much better.
I think if you go 2 x Play 1 with a sub, the separation will come into its own but without it, then the Play 5 wins it.
