It might be only 5p cheaper than the deal direct from Samsung but it is still cheaper and the bonus is that it is from John Lewis. Also, you can click and collect for free from any Waitrose or John Lewis. Can be bought instore too.
You will need a Samsung Smartphone (models below):
Note5 (may need software update)
S6 edge+ (may need software update)

Voted hot simply in the hope that the other £80 'HUKD Pick' will vanish, as I find the HUKD Picks so annoying!
Problem is, this will probably then become the 'new' HUKD Pick...................................................................

I've had one - bought it before xmas but sold it after a couple of weeks.
I sold it for various reasons which are just my opinion but nonetheless may help other make a decision...
1. pixels - it's noticeable - it's not going to ruin the experience but it's there - this is what's known as the "screen door effect" (or part of it)
2. comfort - No matter what I did, I could not get the headset to be comfortable for more than maybe 20minutes and in that time I'm pretty sure I was altering here and there
3. fogging - unfortunately it fogs due to temperature difference and moisture from your face. You can try pre-heating the lenses slightly with a hair-dryer or not leaving it in a cold room but for the money it's still another issue that just get's in the way of it being immersive.
4. nausea - I may just be one of those that is prone to feeling the effects but I found certain cames left me feeling ill (Temple Run in particular)
5. Field Of View (FOV) - it's not wide enough. It's almost as wide as the Oculus Rift I believe but this still leaves you with the feeling as though you're viewing everything through a ski mask - great for diving simulator games but not brilliant for everything.
6. cost - while I was happy to pay the money, after some time I realised that I was not happy with the experience vs the cost. It's a great bit of kit but with the above issues it wasn't really worth the £80 (especially with Christmas in the way!)
I was running the Gear VR using a Samsung S6 32GB.
I watched (or tried to watch) both 2D and 3D movies in the cinema, played various games and also watched YouTube and used the browser.
I hope this helps - again, just my personal opinion.

How can this go cold when it is cheaper than the previously posted deal?

Judging by the other thread it's because "you can buy Google Cardboard for 99p which is exactly the same", or "Hurr, another doomed technology like 3D TVs!"

Because there are bitter pr*cks who will vote cold because:
a) They can't afford the headset (even though it's dirt cheap for the industry)
b) They can't afford a S6+ Samsung phone
c) They assume a 99p Google Cardboard has the same functionality
d) They hate John Lewis

Maybe nobody gives a toss about 5p?
If the gamble is 5p it's still a better option.

Because you get all the low IQ sub humans voting cold for personal reasons instead of just looking at the facts and then voting honestly.

Samsung Site with free next day delivery plus Quidco £2.40 Cashback which tracked immediately, making it £77.60 direct.

Just because it tracks immediately still doesn't mean it'll pay out.........

been playing with for about a week now. You're going to be blown away with the demos on this thing but left scratching your head about what to do next with this. I suggest downloading the Netflix app.
Also, you can watch your own 3D movies on this by creating some folders in your phone. Inside of the 'Oculus' folder create a folder titled 'Movies' and inside of this create another folder labeled '3D' You'll be able to watch any 3D mp4 files that you have through the Oculus theatre.
Overall, it's a great device, definitely worth the investment if you've got the relevant phone.

I'm struggling with the idea of getting one - I have a relevant phone but the fact that it makes the phone overheat, and it doesn't have lasting appeal is holding me back a bit

I'm really considering getting it now because of what you mentioned about the 3d movie stuff. Is mp4 the only filetype supported, by the way? And silly question but is the 3d comparable to the sort of depth effect you get at the cinema (non-IMAX of course)? Thanks.

Seems like a much better deal after seeing the price of Oculus Rift!
