This deal is instore only but there were quite a few in the Glasgow area when I phoned around to check. Some of them might be open box or returns but the one I picked up this morning was brand new & sealed. Best plan is to phone any random local PC World & ask them to do a search on SKU 107639, they should be able to tell you which other stores have stock.
If you want to root this and keep the warranty intact (i.e. Knox 0x0):
1. Upgrade (or downgrade) the ROM to OC7 using Odin (firmwares here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T700/ ). You might need to do a factory reset if you're downgrading.
2. Install and run Kingroot 4.62 http://agcapk.com/apk-kingroot/ and let it do its stuff
3. (optional) install & run Super-Sume Pro from Google Play to get rid of Kingroot, this will automatically replace it with SuperSU
4. Download the OI1 firmware from sammobile (I used the German one), copy it to your SD card
5. Install & run Flashfire from Google Play and use it to flash the OI1 firmware on your SD card. Make sure the box to inject root is ticked
6. Enjoy your rooted tablet!

This tab is all about the screen, which 'destroys' the Shield in terms of quality.

Primarily because it was a quote. I didn't want people to think I would use such a word in that context, as I didn't want to appear a complete imbecile.
I believe you would finish such a sentence with 'rekt!', correct?

Damn, I waited awhile for this to be reduced again, but I couldn't wait so I bought an Nvidia SHIELD. I recommend anyone looking at tablets in this price bracket to do the same, its an excellent tablet and destroys the tab s in benchmarks

This is the old "S" model so if it's anything like my Samsung tablet is now unlikely to recieve anymore security or OS updates

This will get 6.0, and the Dutch watchdog is taking Samsung to court with regard to software updates. So you might get further updates if Samsung loses.

I've been running CM12.1 on another Tab S which already had the Knox counter tripped when I got it and it's excellent. Currently trying to root this with Kingroot and Super Sume but it's not giving in without a fight!

Use Skipsoft Unified toolkit to root and flash your tab S.

Will Knox be OK doing it this way? I've already used this method to root a Nexus 7 but haven't used it on a Sammy.
