This deal is instore only but there were quite a few in the Glasgow area when I phoned around to check. Some of them might be open box or returns but the one I picked up this morning was brand new & sealed. Best plan is to phone any random local PC World & ask them to do a search on SKU 107639, they should be able to tell you which other stores have stock.
If you want to root this and keep the warranty intact (i.e. Knox 0x0):
1. Upgrade (or downgrade) the ROM to OC7 using Odin (firmwares here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T700/ ). You might need to do a factory reset if you're downgrading.
2. Install and run Kingroot 4.62 http://agcapk.com/apk-kingroot/ and let it do its stuff
3. (optional) install & run Super-Sume Pro from Google Play to get rid of Kingroot, this will automatically replace it with SuperSU
4. Download the OI1 firmware from sammobile (I used the German one), copy it to your SD card
5. Install & run Flashfire from Google Play and use it to flash the OI1 firmware on your SD card. Make sure the box to inject root is ticked
6. Enjoy your rooted tablet!

This tab is all about the screen, which 'destroys' the Shield in terms of quality.

Primarily because it was a quote. I didn't want people to think I would use such a word in that context, as I didn't want to appear a complete imbecile.
I believe you would finish such a sentence with 'rekt!', correct?

Damn, I waited awhile for this to be reduced again, but I couldn't wait so I bought an Nvidia SHIELD. I recommend anyone looking at tablets in this price bracket to do the same, its an excellent tablet and destroys the tab s in benchmarks

Honestly, I came here to read about the item being advertised... yet I'm greeted with all this utter drivel and childish **** above. Can't you all stick to reviews or sod off and troll elsewhere?

You'd have to pretty brave to buy a new tablet then start upgrading the ROM etc, seemingly with little real benefits compared to just buying a Nexus 9 already running official Marshmallow?

Still the best Android tablet after 1 and half years.
I have the 10.5 inch version. I got over 10 hours movie time per charge on 10.5 inch which I am happy. Some people said, the battery on the 8.4 inch even better.

This will get 6.0, and the Dutch watchdog is taking Samsung to court with regard to software updates. So you might get further updates if Samsung loses.

Samsung are good at "rumours" like this but my Pro Tab's never even got Lollipop, a it seems more popular table I'd say there's a 50/50 chance the "S" will get Marshmallow but that'll be it whereas a Nexus 9 will probably get the next 2 updates after MM.
As far as somebody suggesting this is still the best tablet surely the new S2 is better?

You are lying.....either you simply had it TOO BRIGHT or you didn't adjust it properly. The Tab S on the lowest saturation setting is less saturated than an average LCD, and less saturated than a modern iPad. I own Tab S, iPad Air and Note, so I can compare directly.
Try harder.
