Looked around and most other dealers looking for £900 so this looks like a great deal, just a pity i cant justify buying another speaker but i hope it helps someone else.

Remember hi-fi is a damaging addiction that can destroy your wallet. Happiness does not come from walnut veneers over engineered driver units . I am speaking as a hi-fi survivor. I got clean so can you. Be strong

really? you may as well post on a topic about cornflakes and suggest they buy cheese instead.

That must be the reason for all the £2000 amps.

Hot deal !! I'm going to get in ether tomorrow to try these out. Does anyone know if these can be used on their own to start with or do they need satellites to go with it? If they can be used in their own, what do you reckon the sound would be like?

they take care of voice in a 5.1 system, so you need at least 5 more. it only makes sense if you buy the matching stuff.

Hi, thinking the same thing myself - a pair could make an interesting stereo set up.
Looks like Tannoy have discontinued these, hence the sudden price drop. Build quality should be very good.
Worth a go.

I feel obliged to say that this is a high end piece of kit and you need equipment to match, to get anything like the right level of performance. This sounds snobbish but to use this on the back of a £200 amplifier is a bit like putting economy unleaded into a formula one car - it will probably work, to an extent but chances are you would beat that combination using a high performance road car.

an amp is an amp, you are being a snob imo. difference between £200 amp and £1000 amp in terms of sound quality is not much

That analogy is on the extreme side
What you get paying more is a more powerful amplifier. The amount of 7.2 AV's on the market with a 500w power supply is concerning.
Mid/high-end speakers can be damaged with a weak amplifier that can't provide enough power at high volumes. Read up on clipping.
Even though more money may reward extra features, most of time those features require better hardware that costs more.
Which costs money to implement. Read above.
If you can't bi-amp that's fine just connect the speaker the same as any other speaker.
A good set of headphones are great but a high-end sound system is something else, not just more expensive
Don't forged the amplifier and sub. It would sound great

I was looking for a replacement centre speaker for a while for my Q ACOUSTICS
2050 setup. This should do a great fit to the existing setup.
