I'm not sure whether to get this or the a5100, but this seems like a good deal because the MZukio lens itself is worth £140.

this is is obviously much better value, depends what the features of a5100 are worth to you
to get a similar range zoom costs about 150 for the a5100

If you want out and out IQ then get the Sony a5100, if you want a full zoom setup for ease of use and cheaper startup kit then get this

The more important decision, do you want to have a micro four thirds system, or a sony E-mount. Once you have decided that, then choose the camera you want in the system you want. The first interchangeable lens camera you buy will likely be long gone in a few years time, but you will likely still be using the system - it is expensive to change systems once you have spent a lot of money on lenses, accessories, batteries etc..\
The Sony is a fine system, but the lens selection is better in the micro four thirds world, and the camera / lens combination will be smaller. Take the following for example -
£350 eleswhere with the single lens + £150 extra for 40-150mm Lens.

How good is this compared to the Nikon D3300? (I realise that's a DSLR!)
Thanks

The D3300 will have better image quality due to the larger sensor and lack of AA filter, it also has a viewfinder which is useful for composing shots with. This comes with the second lens though which will give you a much longer zoom range.

I mainly would want to use the camera for video b-roll, but just something cheap to start with. I want to do product reviews and get cool video shots like how HardwareCanucks does, I know that they probably have gear worth thousands but that's the style of video I want to do. The D3300 is about £279, the A5100 was £274 - £279, and so is this. Which would be the best?
