Medion aren't typically the best machines around, but I cant find a better price for a machine with a Nvidia 980M in the package. Cant really fault the spec for the price.

Sorry mate but this is wrong, the Nvidia 980M doesn't meet the minimum requirements. GTX 970 is the minimum requirement for Oculus Rift, and anything less than this is risking it. It's a bit confusing but the 'M' laptop versions of Nvidia cards are a lot less powerful than the desktop versions.
In the link they're talking about the Oculus Rift DK2, which only needs to run at 75fps compared to 90fps in the consumer rift. On top of that the consumer rift has a higher resolution. Oculus are only supporting GTX 970+ on their store, and games developed independently like Elite Dangerous have steeper requirements.
You *might* be okay with the 980M, but with VR the lower framerate is a killer. Constant 75+ fps is needed to trick your brain into believing what you're seeing is real, and if fps gets really bad it's a trip to barf town.
Been glued to HUKD hunting for parts to build a rift rig soon, thought I'd warn anybody considering this.

Anyone know if the "M" version of the 980 can run Oculus Rift?
