As someone who has tried both, let me give you my opinion.
I went through a huge effort to get the G4 on this deal, and eventually got it. Got the plastic back, which I wouldn't recommend - feels cheap. Definitely go for the leather if you want one of these. Overall, I wasn't satisfied. The camera was good, but really requires more manual intervention to get the most out of it, something I'm not bothered with (I wanted more of an "out of the box" camera experience). The software is really unrefined I found. It just feels "loose" and not very well thought out, kinda hard to explain. Review videos will tell you exactly the same thing. I found the battery life to be very poor too. So after returning the G4 back to Vodafone (who thankfully took it back along with the top up), I went for the O2 refresh GS6 deal.
So far I've been very happy with my choice. Battery is as good if not better (maybe I had a bad G4!), it's still not great mind you - I have to do some battery optimisations to get it to last me through the day. The lack of expandable storage is not ideal but I don't store lots of stuff on my phone anyway. Everything else is just stellar. Build quality feels miles and miles better than the G4. Design and overall fit and finish is superb. And I'm super impressed with what they've done with Touchwiz; no lag at all, and it all feels very well thought out. Nearly all features are genuinely useful and it's nicely customizable. Other than that, the fingerprint scanner is amazing - I can unlock my phone securely without having to think about it, or have to punch in a code or worry about patterns every time (let's face it, most of us have to look at our phone many times a day - why not make it seemless). The wireless charging is a nice touch too, I've bought one from Amazon and it's nice to just put it down without plugging in at night - will save the port from getting worn down that way too.
I'd say if you really need more storage and a removable battery, maybe think about the G4. But in my experience the GS6 has been far better than the G4 in literally all other areas.
Obviously it's just an opinion, so don't shoot me people - my needs/tastes may be different to yours ^_^

For me its the G4. Bought an S6 and returned it looking at the abysmal battery life. Would not say G4 is great but much better than S6. Of course not to mention the additional benefit of removable battery and sd card.

A great phone on a great deal. The camera is absolutely fantastic and the screen is superb. The battery life may only be average but at least you can swap it out for a new one.

Shame you have to buy a Vodafone sim card. I'll never use it.

You dont have to buy a sim, just select 'Keep your existing sim' at the bottom of the page. Dosen't matter if you are a customer or not, they never check when you order online, ive done this with phones bought from vodafone online before.

The S6 is a better phone by a bit in nearly every respect, screen, camera, processor, build quality. However this does have the leather back, removable battery and micro SD slot it is a very nice phone and well worth the price. I personally went with the LG because it was cheaper and less hassle, but for those that have to have the best phone the S6 is a no brainer. Also note that the LG 4G has been superseded.

I have been looking at this in detail and it does seem to have everything most people would need in a smartphone, plus of course the physical keyboard. Just a shame they won't be doing a dual sim version. Would have thought that's a feature more suited to a business class phone.

It has come down to £250 in the Gulf and reduced also in Canada. It's a new phone, that is why it is so expensive,. You just need to wait a bit- like I am.
